Ok, I’m back! Thanks to Foamy for holding the fort while I was away for a couple of days. As I expected shit hit the fan and Vicarious was leaked. I’m currently giving it a listen right now, and it sounds pretty to me, though it’s probably not going to be my favorite Tool song.

little depth, simple breakdowns that could be anybody (not above most as per tool norm) and tra la la…! he never had a problem writing lyrics before!

Hey, you guys should update your news. Tool has a new gateway page on their site playing a sample of Vicarious and centering on the theme of 10,000 Days. It’s pretty fucking cool.

It is the radio song, the single, and the most commercial. I don’t consider tool “nu-metal,” so that’s kind of a moot point you’re making, but hopefully the entire album leaks soon and puts to rest some of the concerns I have with the new direction.

Yeah, you are right, by quoting what you said, I kind of threw you in with the same category of people that are saying that now Tool are just using some repetitive nu-metal riffs. I was actually trying to make two separate points, so I should have just split it up to make it more clear. Sorry about that.
tool are not a fuckin nu metal band. There a combination of art rock, prog rock, psychedelic rock and metal. And vicarious kicks ass.
I THINK THIS IS AWESOME. its dark. has an awesome Groove. builds in to parts perfectly. flows and sounds really interesting. and has some very nice vocal harmonies.

Great track. those who rag on it need to let it sink and try to follow all the polyrythms and time changes. A very mature and progressive tool has been unveiled. Cant wait for Coachella and May 2nd.
well i was very lucky to be at the melbourne listening party and i kinda find it very unfair that a few people seem to be already critising one song that they’ve heard, and have it in their heads that the rest of the album is shit. Well as much as i try not to be bias I really do think Tool have once again evolved from Lateralus, as they have done with all their previous albums. I have spun Vicarious non stop for two days and I am still trying to take it all in. My ONLY complaint thus far; I am not sure about Maynards vocals. SOunds like he’s half assing it. But who knows, it might hit me like a ton of bricks when I buy the album. Peace.
you lot dont know what youre talking about. the dont know what youre talking about. no ones ‘half-assing’ anything. the way he is singing is appropriate for the topic. the topic is very relevant to the times. listen to it a couple of times – REALLY listen to it. dont do anything else, just shut your eyes and play it loud. it will give you goose bumps. its broken into three parts – discern them and you have successfully ‘heard’ the song. and what about the crazy scales and shit at the end!? its incredible!
