US Tour Sells Out

Looks like all of the US Shows (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong) have sold out, many in a matter of seconds.  This was more or less expected, which explains the general dismay with the lack of Pre-Sales.

Those who missed out, I guess you’ll have to resort to scouring ebay, or as some have done, think about selling your souls…..

A letter I wrote TOOL, snail mail because their email doesn’t work: Hey guy’s, I wonder if you have noticed the majority of your FANS tickets for the upcoming shows on ebay? I read that they sold out in “minutes” though a friend and I tried and failed within 30 seconds at TICKETMASTER, “sold out”. I was prepared to fly to Chicago to see TOOL but not to pay $500 for one balcony seat. New York did it without ticketmaster, WE should never have to again! Been waiting years and WE never had a chance. TOOL and their FANS are… Read more »

I was on the phone and the internet together the moment tickets became avaliable for Las Vegas. I didnt have luck w/ either, and I was refreshing the page on Ticketmaster and was in and told it was sold out within a matter of 5 seconds (No Joke). It seems to me that it was already sold out before they even became avaliable, which makes me think VERY VERY few people other than brokers got tickets. Its very upsetting, and NO I will not give a broker $500 for a ticket so he can make $440 profit on a ticket… Read more »

No and ya know, with such limited seating venues and a total of 14 or so cities hosting before europe tour, is it a big surprise to anyone? Or is TOOL that concerned? They are in high demand RIGHT NOW. I mean when NIN released With Teeth, They Flooded cities with Three seperate tours in 18 months. I saw them twice and rather than going a third, I’d pay more for TOOL, which I’ve never seen plus they have not toured in about five or so years. Are you still in sticker shock? I know I’m going to be one… Read more »

I know what you mean and I did expect a quick sale out but after my 35 min’s of trying to get a Chicago ticket via ticketbastards, I like that, I went to the NY vinue site and HAD two tickets I could of gotten. No, I didn’t get them. I should of and sold them on eBay!!
My point is get rid of ticketmaster and “sale out” in a hour when REAL FANS have a chance.

I was able to get one ticket to Chicago online, but I was surprised. What do you expect? The venues they’re playing are tiny. The Auditorium in Chicago holds something like 3800. With a two ticket limit, that creates roughly 1900 fillable ticket orders. Imagine all the people lined up at ticketmaster outlets, on computers, on the phone, at the venue box office, etc. It makes a lot of sense that the shows sold out as fast as they did.

I stood in line, and was on the phone, and had someone online. No one got a ticket online, it’s tools way of saying get off your lazy ass and go and buy your tickets in person or make a phone call. the line was roughly 20 people long. EVERY SINGLE PERSON got at least 1 ticket in my line, some went through twice to get their second ticket. I got one in person and one on the phone. The secret was not asking for a pair, because after the first 10 seconds, there were no pairs, only singles. quit… Read more »

Dude, you are not listioning! Go to ebay and see where all the tickets are. Don’t forget to check “completed” items also. AND if you look real close you’ll see the SAME broker selling 6 or 7 pairs of tickets. That’s 14 tickets! How did that happen?
Happy that you got one though!

“quit whining about scalpers and how the true fans are being molested by ticketmaster, when really the true fans were up at 8 in the morning, standing in line and waiting.”

Been waiting for you punk who has no clue!
You were up at 8? 8am???? You worked really hard you poor baby. Ever wait in line a WEEK for a Led Zepplin ticket? Though you weren’t alive when TOOL was starting. Before you wank some more go to ebay and see what I’m talking about. Look at the $800 to $1,000+ price tags and THINK…who’s making that money.

Even before tickets went on sale, there were 24 ebay ticket listings for the Chicago show. How did they know they would be getting tickets? Because the fix is in.

Ticketmaster is a crooked organization who has the power to set aside “promotional tickets” and sell them at a larger profit to bloodsucking brokers. Tell me how do all these brokers know in advance that they have these tickets to sell? Ticketmaster is a silent partner in the brokering scams.

How come the May 2nd Seattle show was the only one that limited ticket Sales to the surrounding states. only residents os Wash. Ore. and Idaho could buy tix. no Canadians allowed. something about the show being on the same day as the real album release.

Dude a week thats nuts!! I respect that, but I think you should realize tool does not really have to care that this mini-tour sells out in minutes, and scalpers get too many tickets. Many fans in many cities (such as myself) went to the venue to spend their Friday night, and many others waited at ticketmaster outlets. I think we are the true fans, we have tickets, and we have many more tickets then the scalpers. They will tour a few times for this album you will get your chance, and tool will make lots of money. Everybody wins,… Read more »

I had a group of scalpers waiting in line with me for the NYC shows, and when I waited five years ago we were also next to scalpers. While I would not disagree with fact that ticketmaster is a crooked business that fucks over millions of fans a year. Ticket brokers send scalpers (the same ones that sell tickets outside a show) to wait in line for 20+ hours, they know they are getting tickets.

the NYC sale sucked Jack. If you could have gotten tickets you prolly should, becuase i dont know anyone who actually got them. Its no better then ticektmaster. Its worse, there site crashed and their phones died. Now Im gonna be the sucker paying >300 for tickets

I got two for oakland. . . I had three people trying on different computers and I got two after refreshing 7-8 times. Even though it’s the back row of the whole venue. . it’s going to be cool. I know a girl that stood in line at a ticketmaster outlet. She was second in a line of about a hundred and the tickets sold out so fast that the person in the front of the line didn’t even get one. Such Bull shit!!! On Ebay people are selling tickets for the oakland show from Chicago and Canada. . .I… Read more »

“I think you should realize tool does not really have to care that this mini-tour sells out in minutes…”

No, I don’t think they should care but I do think they should care who get’s the tickets and if they don’t they are just trying to make money. I don’t think that’s the case. I think they like their fans but have no other way, with the vinues, to sale them. Like I said before the NY vinue did without TMer.

Actually it was 12 days and the tickets were $10

Here’s what seems to be a SIMPLE solution to get rid of ticket brokers. Print the last 2 digits of the “security number” (the number after the actual CC#) on the back of the credit card used to purchase the tickets on the tickets themselves. Then require that the credit card used to purchase the tix be shown at the show along with the tickets to get in. 2 extra seconds at the door to make sure the numbers match, and NO MORE TICKET BROKERS! You know Ticketmaster won’t do it because they’re in cahoots with the scalpers. But why… Read more »

I don’t know if anybody on here tried for the Minneapolis show but I hopped on the net at noon and had no results for tickets the first 10 times and finally got through for 2 decent balcony tix. I think it was about a minute or two past noon and I still managed to snag two. Then again I do own an Alienware so maybe having a faster computer was key?? There was a line at the local grocerie store and I think only 2 people managed to get tickets from the store. Odd. Anyways, should be a good… Read more »

Busterman, that does seem like a good idea but then again this has been going on for years and nothing has changed and as far as I know nothing is happening to change it.

deadohiosky, Dude, if I wasn’t so flustered about the Chicago show and was thinking properly I would have gotten them, I’m kicking my self now. I only wanted Chiscago because I know people there and don’t in NY.

Brent, good for you! With the small vinues there should not be a bad seat…wish I was you!

At this point Tool has to worry more about the asshole that leaked the album.

That simple solution leaves out an important person: the person that pays in cash!! Good thought though keep trying!!

I think that the scalpers suck, but I think a lot of fans got tickets, more than everybody thinks. I think that price of scalped tickets shows the limited numbers in the hands of scalpers.

To those who didn’t get tickets:

IN FIVE YEARS GO WAIT IN LINE AT THE VENUE, TICKETMASTER SUCKS DO NOT EXPECT THAT TO CHANGE

Just wanted to say, I did get tickets to Toronto show through ticketmaster… so, I guess they’re not 100% crooked. However, I stayed on the phone before they went on sale and I couldn’t get any. how does that make sense??? Like, I said – I am happy that I did manage to get tickets, somehow through the internet, but the presale block of tickets shouldn’t have been so high. People who are REAL fans and dedicated to the the music are now going to miss out on whats sure to be a fantastic show. Well, listen they’ll be back… Read more »

Someone posted that Seattle was the only site that limited to tix buyers to people in surrounding states. This is only party true. They did that online, you could only buy online if you were in the surrounding states. I got my ass up, waited in line and was along until three minutes before they went on sale. but I’m in vancouver canada. me and my buddy got 4 tixs total- the people that lined up behind us…got nothing. It was sold out at the vender in under a minute. but were in canada…and most definitely were able to get… Read more »

Joel, did you wait three days to reply because you couldn’t find your dictionary? Really, I didn’t mean to dump on you I was pissed and I apologize. You defend TM almost like you are an mployee??? Are you? The problem with this system is TM. If they ran it the way it should be the scalpers would only have two tickets to scalp. Imagine if you didn’t get tickets would you wait a week in line for TOOL tickets knowing they were going to be there when you got there? I would, any true fan (idiot) would. Hope no… Read more »

no, not an employee of tm, i own a guitar store…

I understand the frustration. My main beef is the kids who sat at home and tried to log into TM on the internet at 9.59 and get tickets. then act all indignant when they didn’t.

oh well, there will be more tool shows.

I’m just glad i got my tickets, even if my wife is 1 section and 16 rows back from me…

awesome.

and yes you can breathe now.
