Danny recently spoke to The Rock Radio where he talks about the next North American tour in March-April 2007:
“The show in the springtime will definitely be different than the shows that went around this fall in America. Projection ideas will be added and changed, and props and whatnot will all evolve too, I’m sure. You know, it’s just the way our band always works. We work on that kind of thing all the time.”
I’d imagine dates and venues for this tour will be announced sometime in the next couple of months.
I’m trying not to be gay here, but its North, not Norht for the heading
That’s a very homophobic thing to say.
you two are such fags.
thats good news though. i hope they come here. they wont.
hey uh… so there are two countries in australia? i thought it was all one country. do educate
Are you high or something? Because I have no idea what you’re talking about…
picked up a copy of uk mag ‘drummer’ yesterday (september issue). it has danny on the cover and a good little interview. he jumps rope about 5 mins before they hit the stage amongst other things
Panoply… Tasmania (I assume you’re referring to Tasmania anyway) is just another state, although it is an island separate from the mainland. Not many people live there, and fewer care about it.
Hey! I won’t hear a bad word said about Tasmania. It’s one of the most beautiful places in Australia, and as a lover of the great outdoors, there’s no finer place to visit that Tassie.
True Hellboy, it is very beautiful. Sarcasm isn’t best detected through text, even not very funny sarcasm… but it is Tasmania after all.
Forget about the materialistic concepts of the shows, for starters try and differentiate setlists more frequently. That would be a good start Mr. Carey.
Hey Doors you aren’t one of those freaks who feel it’s their God given right to heart Third Eye played at every Tool show, and get all cranky and upset when they don’t get their way are you? Anyway, I don’t care what you think in this case (and I think most people will agree with me), I’m happy to see them twice, because despite the fact in all likelihood it’ll be the same set both times, they will still feel quite different. And anyone, as a confirmed 10,000 Day’s lover, I have no problems with listening to their new… Read more »
Hellboy this a healthy discussion I like it. We may vary in opinion but either way it’s all love.
Man love.
hey third eye is obviously the best tool song, why wouldnt you be angry if you didnt hear the best tool song. i sure would be angry. 10000 days is spectacular but its no third eye for sure, have they played it at all on their current tour?
Many have speculated that Third Eye was the beginning of the end for Tool. That is the major reason why Paul D’Amour left the band (yes he left, Adam is still bitter about it). He didn’t like the direction the band was heading in. Paul was a monster bass player, he wrote most of the killer songs on Aenima (Eulogy, PuShit,Stinkfist, etc). Paul brought melody, hookiness, and tool songs felt just right (length, arrangement, and composition felt right). I’m not getting that with Justin, that’s just MO. Justin just ‘filled in’ so to speak, although Justin had his highlights too… Read more »
You can tell I’m bored.
third eye beginning of the end? How is that the end when Lateralus was their best album.
Lateralus was not their best album, far from it. That was a piece of shit!
^Doors, as a result of your lengthy post above and previous expressions, I now feel that you don’t enjoy Aenima, think that Lateralus was “not their best album, far from it” and “a piece of shit” and we all know how negatively you view 10,000 days. So my question to you is this: what Tool music do you enjoy? Only Undertow and Opiate? Or do you dig some of the covers on Salival? Surely you must like some of the band’s material from over the years…?
Please help me to understand.
so doors, Rick Wakeman or Patrick Moraz?
Next you’ll be comparing Jon Anderson to MJK.
Now I’m well and truly bored.
Time to kick back, have a little lie down
and put on that “piece of shit” LATERALUS.
Oh and if there are any other “pieces of shit”
that you know about doors, please tell they’re
going on my Xmas wish list.
hasnt doors become the man of the moment. i do have a plan for the gold coast big day out, to hear third eye, but it must remain quiet, otherwise people will copy me and steal my idea, thereby rendering it useless. doors is right, although probably not as empasisized as he put it. i still do think aenima was tool’s best album, its my favourite anyways. not that lateralus and 10000 days are bad, they are just a little below aenima. on a completely unrelated topic. i hope no-one here is one of those OMG I LOVE MJK SO… Read more »
oops i meant to say lateralus didnt really have a days/third eye style of song.
not gonna read.
I didn’t used to like Maynard very much at all, but I’m indifferent now. He can sing much better than I can…
But I suggest replayee, that you read this interview http://www.cdicarlo.com/paper_04maynard.htm It’s actually very interesting, and while you’re there read the “Does God Exist?” lecture as well.
Mars Volta are OK.
Almost good enough to support APC.
not as much with amputechture? i didnt like it all that much at first either but it keeps getting better. it’s a hard listen, but once you get your footing, its a great album. on par with frances for sure. and ive a theory that all the production errors on amputechture are intentional. it’s a buckshot. a rasp of tails. honestly, as things stand right now in my head, amputechture is the best album of 2006 so far. and i know how many people out there hate it. but as far as im concerned, those just couldnt hold on, lost… Read more »
ahhh hold up there panoply. did you torrent amuptecture or not? because i know the one on the internet, the one in all the most popular torrents, is slightly unfinished, not the final copy!
i wouldnt say it was the best album of 2006, i think its on par with 10000 days. do you have a favourite panoply? dont say viscera eyes, i hate that song. i reckon it would have to be meccaamputecture or tetragammation
Can’t get into the Mars Volta. Opeth are standard, the vocalist looks like a pussy and the solos sound like Carlos Santana. And I fucking hate Carlos Santana!
Yeah and Opeth solos are too short.
Doors you know nothing about musicianship and talent. Short solos are great. If they were long, the other 100,000 people that listen would complain. Let’s face facts, you are in a minority and remain a character that plays on people’s emotions. I really don’t believe that you hate Tool, Opeth or Mars Volta.
You are indeed a serial liar. We have now caught you out! So now that’s out in the open where were you sitting for the Tool show’s coming up? Did you choose to see the whole show from the Back or salivate at the front? 🙂
Auckland, 19th Jan.. First performance of the new year after a healthy break and I’m anticipating a gem or two in the setlist. Why wouldn’t they whilst knowing that NZ is the biggest Tool market per capita?
Doors you know nothing about musicianship and talent.-Shervo You don’t know me. I know more about music than all of you cunts combined, I also have better taste in music. Short solos are gay. Listen to Marillion during the Fish era. That’s music..bud. That was a time when Prog Rock was actually done right, instead of this formulaic crap we hear from Mars Volta and Opeth. 5-10 minute songs that bore you to death with the same fucking time changes. It becomes almost predictable. Obviously I’ll take my Opeth over most of the shit that’s current these days. All I’m… Read more »
Listening to Tool all day is not healthy for your mind or your image. Neither is being constantly negative… But I see your point, though the old “back in the old days music was better” argument will never be resolved in any way, shape or form. Music is what the listener makes of it. Some of us like older prog-rock, while other prefer the newer stuff. Some people prefer new Tool stuff, others prefer the older stuff. Arguing on some weirdo’s blog isn’t going to decide any of those arguments. I understand Shervo’s argument though, just because a guitar solo… Read more »
god damn it forget another US tour, a FULL OZ/NZ tour is required with a support band, naked contortionists, projections and most definitely circus clowns 😉
i bought the album, and didnt torrent it. if its not the complete album… then get it. my favourite song right now on it is Days of the Baphomets, cuz it’s just fucking deadly. hear it in its entirety, give it a few tries. viscera eyes is a great song! man i guess peoples musical ear just totally varies. i didnt like it at first though. again, listen to it in its entirety… this album is a mess, as it’s all over the fucking place. a good thing though, i like to discover my music. “…instead of this formulaic crap… Read more »
im gonna take that back actually, the whole album is just crazy, i have not one favourite. Day is a deadly, deadly song though. but i like the album from start to finish the most. I like to dance around to the volts when im cleaning or rolling or something, and Day is good for that.
Gold Coast here we come then Panoply? “Oh and I try not to limit myself to one genre of music, nor the generation it came out like most of you fuckers do. Listening to Tool all day is not healthy for your mind or your image.” Doors I don’t just listen to Tool and Opeth. I support Local and Australian bands more than US bands only because of being slightly patriotic and because there is so many great Australian bands at the moment. Being a musician I have developed a great appreciation for the musical composition of Tool and Opeth.… Read more »
“Arguing on some weirdo’s blog isn’t going to decide any of those arguments.”
he sure is weird 😀
mars volta is definitley more interesting than tool to me right now. i didn’t like amputechture at first, but i fucking love it now. you gotta just give it time and have a lot of patience. de-loused is still my favorite, but amputechture is definitely the best album of 2006.
hehehe thank you.
Ahhhhhhh love…………..boy love.
