Travis Shinn Photography

Random Girl emailed me today to tell me that Travis Shinn’s website seems to have a few stereoscopic pictures of Tool members that didn’t make the 10,000 Days album cover. It also contains his photos from the Revolver article, as well as shots of other good (and not so good) bands.

For the stereoscopic ones, make sure you visit the Single section.

Lifted from a post on Toolarmy:

Ok so here’s the deal guys. At shred school there were maybe a 100, no more than 150, people there. The day started with aguy walking on to the stage which was about 18” high, very small stage. He gave us a quick over draft of what we were to sort of expect through out the day. No pictures or video were allowed while people were on stage. That was only allowed during the autograph sessions. So the day started with Dean Deleo of STP and Army of Anyone doing Q and A. He did show us the “real” chord progression to Interstate Love Song. That was about it for him, he signed autographs, did pictures and answered more questions.

Next was some douche bag that works at guitar center that was supposed to tlk about gear, but it was more like him talking about what its like to sell fucking guitars at guitar center, and a lot of “yeah dude, i’ll give you my card and you can down and try out some gear.” Totally fucking gay.

Then John 5 cam out and played some new song from his latest record the Devil Knows my Name. Fucking bad ass it was. I’m a big fan of this guy and it was rfeally cool to see him play these songs.

The there was the “artist pannel” which consisted of John 5, the guys from Avenged 7fold, and Stephan Carpenter. Most questions were directed to the Avenged guys, there were a lot of 7fold fans there.

    It was lunch time.

Then there was the Q and A with rthe guys from Avenged 7fold. I like those guys, but I would rather see them play than talk about what its like to be in a band from the O.C.

And then “industry pannel”. Guys that are A/R guys and record lable dudes. They had some cool stuff to say, but not much that i already didn’t know about the buisiness. I did have to laugh when the one guy said he was going to shoot himself if he recieved another demo of a shitty emo band. Kudos to that.

Then Herman lee from dragon force came out. He shredded his ass of and it was bad ass. I totally loved it. He talked a lot about porno and masterbating. It was entertaining to say the least.

Ok so the part you have all been waiting for. Adam Jones.
Adam came out and made everyone come up to the fron of the stage and sit down. It was amazing. Inever thought in a million years that i would bee sitting in front of him like a kindergarten kid watching him play Tool songs and showing us his technique and how he goes about writing and playing these songs. he played The Pot, some bits of Lateralus and Stinkfist. Most of enema, wings/10,000 day. he shows how he came up with the intro to Vicarious. he used his Line 6 delay pedal on the loop setting. Started it off playing in 5/4 with the loop, and then over the section in 5 he plays in 7. Enema went in hand with the playing 3 on 4 thing he always mentions in interviews as the “pass the god damn butter.” He did play us a bit of a new song that they were working on. It sounded like jambi and other things that were going on on the 10,000 days album. he talked about drugs for a few minutes, saying that he doesn’t really do drugs and that rosetta stoned was about a friend of maynards that took some acid and went to area 51 and was like “woah, i’m tripping balls, and look at that alien. Its real” and how drugs usually cause one of two experiences, good and bad. That song was about a bad experience. They were kind of making fun of the dude for being an idiot. i almost felt as if he was alluding to Tool fans really over analyzing song meanings. I think that most are about sort of inside joke type things. he brought some video props and scultures with him. The little guy for Parabola, the executive from parabola, the head from schism that the ear gets pulled from, and the sculture from the Peach album cover. Sorry i could get more pics, i would have atken a camera full of them had i been allowed. I hope i answered most of what you guys wanted to hear. I’m more than happy to answer what else you might have to ask. once again if you want to see what pics. i have go check out my myspace at myspace.com/lespaul462 check out my music page too at myspace.com/ryanseelbachmusic.
