Tool Newsletter June 2009
Blair, Tool July 2nd, 2009
Blair has released the latest Tool newsletter on Toolband/Army. This time around he talks about a recent trip to Area 51 to capture some new footage for Rosetta Stoned. Other than that there’s nothing much there in regards to Tool information. One for Blair fans only.

Well so much for them changing the setlist. This twelve to fourteen minute depending on the intro song is a big time waster. At least Ill be able to say I told you so. If the band is just now rehearsing and the crew is just now joining together for baby showers with the first show just less than three weeks away. Dont expect much change. I predict one new old song and them dropping wings and maybe a new outfit or hairstyle for the lame lead singer and you got yourseld a tour.
You can get all that from just the fact that they’ve done some new Rosetta Stoned footage?
Having said that I agree, I don’t think we’ll see much change, maybe a couple of songs included/excluded, but for the sake of a three week mini-tour I can’t see Tool changing things too much (nor should they either in my opinion).
I agree. The reason why i have been listening to TOOL for half of my life is because they always do what they feel like doing. And still everyone bitches around about the setlist..
Anyway, i live in Europe so i won’t be seeing them in the near future.

Well maybe if you were attending a concert and this tour you would be bitching about the setlist. Especially if you saw the same setlist three times on the last tour. Hear me out, I dig tool I would still attend their shows if they played the exact same setlist for years to come because I mean come on they are tool. They could just hang on stage and fart and I would go to the show and enjoy it so long as the fart songs had great graphics playing in the backaround that synced up to each fart. However… It is hard to collect bootlegs of tool because every night was the same exact shit. They need to make small changes to keep it interesting. Every night was the same thing. “good eventing”-Jambi with vicarious as the closer. I mean change to tool means changing the setlist opener from stinkfist to jambi. These guys obviously have some kind of disdain for the fans. I mean look at the melvins, they announced they were going to announce tour dates and did shortly after. What a fucking concept. Here we are two and a half weeks away from the first stool show and we dont even know if they are done announcing them so people can make summer plans.
-End rant
Well maybe if you were attending a concert…..-End rant
I’m not sure that the band have a responsibility to pander for the 1% of people that attend more than one show to be honest.

So 99% Percent of people that attend tool shows are less than casual fans and only attended the show because they had nothing better to do and because they like stinkfist?
No, 99% of people that attend Tool shows only see them once, and therefore set variety is moot.
Lets just look at other bands for example. They promise dates, they deliver dates. Not the case with tool. Other bands make their live shows different, not the case with tool. I just dont understand the lack of frustration on the part of tool fans and that people just jump to defend a band that does not care about the true fans. I mean they promise presales if you join their stupid site for an expensive fee and no such presales usually occur and the fans get hacked by hackers. Why does no one seem to care>?
It’s not that I don’t care, it’s more that in the grand scheme of life there are far more important things to worry about…
Finally I am so stoked! It was nice of Blair to finally release the last tour date.
For……….
……….
Volto!
Fuck you tool fans with summer plans on hold!
Honestly….I can see if you do love Tool quite a bit how you can be pretty upset with seeing the same setlists. Keep this in mind though…They said they were getting footage at area 51 for rosetta stoned. This doesn’t have to have anything to do with the tour. This could be a video for rosetta stoned. They don’t have to play that on tour.
On a personal note, I’d love to see The Grudge or some more stuff off Lateralus.
PS: I just got my tix to the Atlanta Show!
