Tweakbird to support Tool

According to the Tool Hotline, two-piece rock band Tweak Bird will be supporting Tool on all the non-festival dates:

The Bird Brothers are extremely excited to announce this Independence Day that we will be touring the U.S. and parts of Canada supporting TOOL! We will be playing 13 shows over three weeks so check the tour page for all the show dates. We are sure this will be a most rad time, and when it’s all over we will pour all that professional experience into recording our first full length record. Happy Birthday America…start the van.

These guys are pretty fucking kick ass. Give them a listen. Though they do sound alot tighter live since the cd’s were released.

I definitely recommend catching them so get there early (puff puff), grab a beer, take a seat & enjoy the night.

    Wow, what a shit band.

Thanks for putting up the myspace link so that I could go check out this shit band before hand. and not waste my time with getting to the show early.

    Only two musicians….. wtf?

There awesome collection of 4 songs on their myspace page, somehow to me, all sounded exactly the same. Like shit.

U can only make so many different sounds with two band members. Especially a drummer with only a 4 piece set and two cymbals.

    What a bunch of douchers…. :(

A side note to hellboy: maybe you should have a poll/discussion about what the best opening act for Tool has ever been? In our/your opinions.. just a thought

How about Dream Theater opening for them?? Like 1 1/2hr set list for DT and Tool’s is 3 or 4 hrs (a intermission in the middle of Tool’s set list)

I think we have had a poll on this before, and from memory either King Crimson or the Melvins won. Personally I don’t think they’re terrible, and just because they’re a two-piece doesn’t make them so. Don’t forget that Big Business are a two piece, and I don’t think we had to many complaints then. White Stripe’s aren’t too bad for a two piece. I checked out their tracks on Myspace and didn’t dislike it. I’d generally urge people to check bands out live before making decisions on their worth.

And anyway, who really gets bothered by the support act? Is it really the end of the world that someone you think is sub-par are on before Tool? As far as I see it a good support act is just a bonus, and if they suck, then who cares, have a beer and wait for the main act.

I’m pretty sure Big Business is a trio. Maybe early incarnations were a two piece, but i always thought there were 3…

They play as a 3-piece now, but up to their recent record they were a 2-piece.

Yeah i agree with the dont judge prematurely bit, but IMO the songs on their myspace SHOULD be atleast a semi-complete reflection of the band themselves.

However, IMO all the songs sounded the same. Singer who is whiny and mostly verbally inaudible. Very basic rhythm guitar, yawn. And goddamn drums are so plain 4/4 with an occasional decently composed fill or two. And whats with all their songs being less than 3 mins long? I guess its hard to make something longer when you have no creative power behind you.

As you can probably tell i have an agenda against this band.

I think it centers behind my hatred for all these sissy shitheads who wear girls pants, crazy colored skin tight shirts, and 70′s style accessories.
As to announce to the world. Hey look at me. Im so insecure with my outward perception that I am going to shock and awww you with my shitty taste of clothing and musical style.

    Wow, how gay.

You read way too much into what a person wears.
I don’t disagree with you about the music though.

Ok Hellboy…this poster has a major point here. I know you live “down under” but I’m sure there is an aussie version of the “scene” that bigboy55693 describes. I live in baltimore and let me tell you, there are MORE than plenty of “hipsters” that parade around in their tight girl jeans and their holier than thou attitudes about music, style, image. They try WAY to hard to be “individuals” but all they succeed in doing is conforming to a SHITTY clique that listens to horrible “emo/indie/bullshit” music. They are under the illusion that they are open minded – but in fact their minds are closed like an iron door.

check out this site for a complete satire of this complex social issue…after getting fed up with this stupid baltimore hipster scene I googled “scenes suck” and found this gem:

In terms of TweakBirds music….I would have to agree with what one of my friends said in that we are growing tired of these deconstructed rock bands. Its sheer gimmickry at this point. Although I do like the “big bass balls of fuzz” sound on some of the tracks – The fact that this band is opening is gonna give me and my friends more time to pregame at our hotel before going to the patriot center to see the show.

Hellboy, thanks for doing what you do here.

Sure we have people like that down under, but who cares? How is this any different than making an assumption that all Tool fans a pretentious pricks?
Live and let live is more my motto…

Oh Tool fans can be pretty bad too – I think your missing my point. There sure are a lot of “TOOLBAGS” at the “TOOL” concert, and thats a fact. You cant deny it.

Here is a 3rd party opinion on tool fans now that you’ve brought it up…it’s pretty funny actually…the guy who wrote it is an asshole…I’m pretty sure he claims that the best band of all time is 3 dog night:

    http://www.somethingawful.com/d/your-band-sucks/tool-worst-songs.php

in terms of those tight pants hipsters….you say live and let live…not to interfere or care about what they do…but they are EVERYWHERE around here (baltimore, md)…you cant go to a concert, out to eat, to the bookstore, grocery store, ANYWHERE without interacting with these trendy-ass faux artsy hipster bitches –

here is a nice quote I found:

“wouldn’t it be more of an act of rebellion if you didn’t spend so much time buying blue hair dye and going out to get punky clothes? it seems so petty. stop me if I’m being offensive. you wanna be an individual, right? you look like you’re wearing a uniform. you look like a punk. that’s not rebellion. that’s fashion.”

    - slc punk

I say live and let those trendy motherf***ers die!

By the way…Big Business was a 3 piece when I saw em. It would be cool if tweakbird did a drum AND bass jam on Lateralus….their bassist could hold steady that open d (da-na-na-na, da-na-na-na) and free up justin to layer some sonic textures. I know he’s got to get tired of playing that over and over again…in reading, pa 2007 I saw him chug 6 stella arotis during that part of the song…the stagehand scientists brought one out ever 3-5 minutes.
