Whisp, you got that correct. I have been digging Blue Record since I received it pre-order last month. I grows on you.
Although I never have given Isis a chance, I know that I should. Perhaps in the near future, but there is so much more out there that I have to catch up to.

You raise a good point but completely contradict yourself.

  Whisp, you are quite correct in that statement. I could try and back pedal and explain that it was musical genre vs. playing genre, I won’t.  This is what you get for contributing to a forum at 6:30 in the morning sans caffeine.   However, having said that, I do not hear DC influence in Remission or Leviathon. And to throw another tangent out there, I believe that Baroness’ second song from the Blue Album entitled The Sweetest Curse opens exactly like Mastodon’s first song off of the Remission album entitled Crusher Destroyer.   Everyone rock out today.

 
Hah that’s cool. I’m a guitarist. So when I say it sounds similar on the early albums. (lets include Call of the Mastodon too) I mean I get the same feel from them, in a slower song like trilobyte or trainwreck or something I get a real DC feel, with the fills etc.
