A concert review of the recent Puscifer show in San Diego has appeared on Spin

What followed felt like an X-rated episode of Hee-Haw, starring two more characters: Keenan as bumpkin crooner Billy Dee (a polyester-clad cross between Charlie Rich and Carl Perkins) and comedian Laura Milligan as his child bride/sidekick Hildy (think sexed-up Dolly Parton). And, for added ambiance, all of this played out on a detailed set of a country-style front porch.

Sounds like a cool show to me!

    It was cool! I was at the Vegas show. Loved ever minute of it. Just awesome and silly.

    I know I’m not the exception, but I absolutely hated this show with a passion. I’ve never been so disappointed in my many years of attending shows. About 20 minutes in to the show people were swearing and yelling in protest over the theatrical nonsense taking place on stage. My girlfriend and I left along with about 30 to 40 others and I’m sure more were to follow. Outside there was a gathering of stunned fans all of whom appeared outraged.
    If you want to spend over a $100 on tickets and have one of your favorite performers play backwoods red neck iterations of all the songs you’ve come to know and love then by all means go to the show. But if you’re like me and completely detest all things country this performance will send you into a fit of rage. I posted a review on Live Nation and have lodged complaints with LN and Ticketmaster in hopes of getting my money back.
    I will glady save my money next time puscifer rolls around.

    It was a GREAT show… The first half (Cuntry) was funny as hell including the new video skits. MJK is one funny mutha… “Shut yo’ mouth”

    Here’s some pics from the Halloween show right before we had to take them off to get in.

    @luminousanubis
    What did you expect, a Tool show? You probably should have researched what you were purchasing tickets for beforehand.

    Agreed.
    I reckon that if one has the means to go online and complain about something then logic dictates they would have had the means to go online and find out what they were in for ahead of time.
    Unless they bought, borrowed, or stole a computer after the fact specifically to get online and complain. In that case, I’ve got nothing.
    If anyone was expecting a “standard rock show”, then they would possibly be disappointed … or pleasantly surprised, depending on their disposition.
    Maynard hasn’t exactly been misleading people into thinking Puscifer was a rock band. He’s been quite vocal about it being something out of the ordinary, even referring to the live show as a “cabaret act”. Acting, comedy, wine…. it’s all mixed in there.
    Also, the country aspect shouldn’t be that much of a surprise. The only existing footage of “Puscifer” that was available prior to a year ago was a weird mix of characters performing “Cuntry Boner”.
    It’s unfortunate that some people felt duped. I don’t think he expects everyone to be into it, but I also don’t think he is trying to piss people off or pull a “switcharoo”.

    Hi Junior.  I’m hitting the Oakland show tomorrow night.  I’ll look for you to say hi.  Totally agree with you and Ibex.  I’m going despite what I’ve heard, and not expecting to be blown away… I’m sure I’ll be entertained though.  It’s an experience.

    Have fun at the show Kittaan.  As Maynard has said from the beginning, “Leave your overinflated expectations at the door”.  Not that your expectations are over inflated by any means, but we all know you and bobage love your musci schnobbery.

    It’s a fun, light hearted show.   Maynard is quite the comedian and I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

    Give Jr a big ol’ hug for me! 8~}

    Why would I expect a Tool show, I went to a Puscifer concert dummy!
    Excuse me for attending and at the very least assuming I’m going to hear what’s being advertised. The country versions of those Puscifer songs totally sucked and really pissed off a lot of people, me included. Just because you worship Maynard as a god does not mean he has free rein to take advantage over his position as an entertainer.
    I did my research, I watched videos on youtube, read previous reviews and was ready to have a Halloween night to remember, but instead I was greeted with backwoods fucking retard music country bumpkins listen to while they fuck their cousins!

    I listen to “D is for Dubby” when i fuck my second cousins…
    I was entertained the whole way through. Listening to the few first songs were pretty cool to see how they changed them up cuntry style. I was happy to hear DoZo again along w/ Undertaker these songs kick ass live.
    luminousanubis – I get your frustration and there’s nothing you can do about it now except hey you’ve been, you didn’t like and you probably won’t go again (extra seats for scalpers next time). I went in not expecting what i saw in the first 4 out of 5 shows and it was cool to see . It was entertaining and different.
    People will always complain no matter what and that will never change.
    Opiate – Who are these guys?
    Undertow – Who are these guys?
    Aenima – Why isn’t he as crazy?
    Lateralus – Why isn’t he painted anymore?
    10,000 Days – Dude! Lateralus was sooooo much better.
    TOOL R.I.P. – “I miss TOOL”
    Kittaan – Have fun at the show
    badkittygothgirl – I agree

    Thank you gnjasmkr!!  I usually try to ignore the whiney bitches, which is what i did here.  If he had taken the time to read it, he would have known I was referring to kittaan’s music schnobbery.  Duh!

    Love you kittaan!
