Anaphoria tweeted me that at the Volto! show over the weekend, John Z mentioned that there will be a Tool show in Los Angeles on the 20th of July.
In other news I found an interview with King Buzzo from the Melvins on Metalsucks.

Of course they’ll play LA. It gives Maynard a great opportunity to talk sh*t.
I hope they make it down this way…I totally slept through yesterday morning’s SF ticket sale…so much for that grand plan.
Any guesses as to where they would play in LA? I was hoping for hollywood bowl, but the bowl is booked that day.
Forum, LA Live, Staples?
Or they could take it OGT and play the Celebrity Center…..
My guess would be the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. There’s nothing on their event calendar for July 20th. If they’re playing in SF on the 12th though I’m not sure what they’re going to be doing until the 20th. Maybe they’ll make a stop in Sacramento? But it doesn’t really make any sense that they’d wait eight days to show up in L.A.
And…it’s not gonna be the Staples Center because they’re booked in July. I hope they don’t play the Bowl. If you’ve got good seats it’s a great place to be, but if you don’t have seats in those few good sections it’s just a crap place to experience a rock show. And forget about actually “seeing” anything there. That stage is so far away. As for the Forum, I’m not sure it’s really up to par these days.

I saw them crooked vultures at club nokia, the Nokia theater is the bigger of the 2 correct? Hollywood bowl isnt so bad after the remodel, but if you get to far on the sides, it tends to not be much fun.
I was thinking long beach arena might be a possibility, if i’m not mistaken they ended the lateralus tour there.
The Greek?
How ’bout a little place called DODGER STADIUM! It’s All-Star break for baseball that week(after 7/12 in SF; 7/20 sounds off)and the Dodgers are outta town till the 19th…Friday or Saturday night would be preferable guys, ok?
Yeah…Nokia Theatre L.A. Live is the larger venue…TOOL played there a few years back. That was a great show.
As for the Bowl, I saw Radiohead during the Hail to the Thief tour and it just seemed like the stage was soooooo far away, although I will admit the NIN show I saw there was incredible. But I had great seats for that one.
Yeah…Long Beach arena…APC played there too, with the Mars Volta. That’s a cool place.
The Greek would be pretty amazing too. I believe they’ve got an early curfew though.
Club Nokia- Way too small, I mean Crooked Vultures PACKED the place, Tool would just be a riot
Nokia – Probably the best bet, but please no seats on the floor again. What the fuck was THAT shit?
Staples – someone says it’s booked?
Forum – Oh dear god no
Hollywood Bowl – PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE!? I’ve sat everywhere in the bowl and who cares if you can’t see the band? The only one worth watching is Danny Carey anyway lol. Probably the best sound quality out of any major SoCal venue
Greek – 10pm curfew in July = so fail
I’m anaphoria on twitter who sent the tip and just for the record, at the Volto! show, Danny Carey said to John Z who then relayed the information into the microphone that Tool is playing LA on July 20th. I know some other people at the show made the same comment on the other post. If its coming from Danny Carey, it must be true haha.
As far as a venue, a guy behind me at the show claimed to be DC’s friend and said it was at the Nokia Theater. This may or may not be true, but based on the discussion here, it appears likely.
Excellent! : )
Woo Hoo! Look at that…Sacramento on the 13th! I’m a freakin’ predictor of the freakin’ future. (Thanks for letting me toot my own horn here for a moment.)
So now…I guess the band and crew are gonna chill for bit before hitting L.A.? Or maybe…maybe…two dates in L.A.? Can you put a good word in for us Jr? : )
I saw A Perfect Circle at the Universal Amphitheater.
It was a nice little venue with comfortable stadium seating and decent acoustics, it would be a treat if they played there instead of the larger stadium-style venues that usually are clogged with traffic, poor seating and bad acoustics.
Was that during the 13th Step tour? If so…I was there too. : )
I remember they had a cardboard cut out of Arnold Schwarzenegger…as he’d just been elected as Governor I believe…and they tore his head off and then threw it into the crowd.
I like that venue too. I saw NIN on the Downward Spiral tour there. That was an amazing show.

I was there as well. Paz coming out to play was a surprise. Mini Kiss was awesome!
Either one would be great
Mini-Kiss was terrible, but not as bad as Melt Banana.
Nothing is as bad as melt banana.

I know this is a little off topic, but do you all remember what happened after the show? I remember there were people banging on trash cans and chain link fences a little ways further from the outside of the venue yelling the lyrics from TOOL – Disgustipated.
What day will tickets be on sale for Tool in Sacramento. I dont see it on Ticketmaster yet
