Blair just published the June 2010 Newsletter on Toolband. It’s a pretty short and straight forward one talking mainly about the tour. Interesting thing to note is that:
- Apparently the band listed on various Tool fansites as the support isn’t correct. We’ll see in under 24 hours if Wovenhand are really playing I guess. We should know who will be supporting all the shows by Monday.
- He doesn’t know what will be played, but noted they’ve been practicing a song each off Aenima and Lateralus that weren’t played last tour. They also practiced and older song but that had a ?? next to it on the setlist.
- Strongly suggested that LA dates are good, just waiting on on-sale date clarification.
- Toolarmy members can look forward to some updates from the Tour Manager, and possibly Junior as well.

Parabola I think is definitely the weakest song off Lateralus. The Grudge would just be awesome. Disposition / Reflection / Triad would be amazing too…
H. is probably my favorite song off Aenima so I’m dying to hear it live, but either that or Third Eye would be killer additions to the set really.

I’ve not seen any decent rumours aside from Wovenhand on any Tool fansite AND the Wovenhand Myspace site mentions the tour, so I’m not so sure Blair is right on this one. As I said in the post we’ll know in less than 24 hours…

H or Pushit and the Grudge. The older song is probably Opiate. They play that one all of the time.
Jimmy and the Grudge (sounds like a band…) I reckon. And Opeth are so over the top they are great – Tool probably share the most rock DNA with them than anybody else! The first track of Ghost Reveries is almost a Tool tribute – however (please dont cry) Akerfeld is a better guitarist than Adam Jones…
If you want great prog rock with synths, then early Marillion (with Fish) is the go.
Opeth’s vocals suck, the guitar solos are weak and generally go only for 20-30 seconds, the synths are so gay sounding its as if I was in an art-noveau film. The only ok thing is the drummer. Opeth..you’re doing it wrong.
How is that science?
Opeth’s earlier work is pioneer in the melodic death metal genre; it’s one thing for a band to suck and another not to be into them.

Opeth are the most singularly overated band in metal history. Their meandering tri-tone infused songs are so stuck to a dull formula it is beyond belief. Nice but badly played acoustic guitar followed by pre-requisite growling have reduced them to the ultimate cliche of prog-death. I mean honestly how can anyone listen to a vocalist who sings in an adequate clean voice then subject themselve to the montrosity that follows. There is no technical leads.
