It may seem like they are not trying to insult the intelligence of the bidders, but if you try to bid on the item it will automatically over bid your bid. The seller of some of these ‘cheap’ tour posters have set them all up at low starting bids, but have set an auto counter bid that will always out bid you until it gets to the profiteer prices, so don’t be fooled by the .99 cent starting bid….

you don’t even need a “Fake” profile, you just need your friend(s) or boyfriend/girlfriend to up the bid. there are a few ways that people can jack up the prices of shit on ebay : its LAME.

All the posts are on one page for me and there is no picture sorry for asking. lachrymologist I think you out bid me on ebay in the final seconds on that signed San Diego poster. I almost cried when I lost it. Hopefully another one will com on ebay in the coming weeks. Congrats on the win I guess.
newb
I shall try this again….
^That is my favorite poster of all them that I have. It’s a wonderful piece.
^Those are all my 2009 posters. There are 3 signed (phx, san anton, toronto – the three best (all red) in the 2009 series imo).
I wonder why nomad changed it up from 2009 to 2010. To my knowledge none of the ’10 posters were as big (and light) as the 2009 ones, especially the early ones from 09. anyone else notice that?
newb
Does anyone think Adam will sell some of the extra art posters that
are left over from this tour on Tool Army? just a thought…

There are some leftover posters from last years tour in the shopping bazaar so I would think they would do the same for this tour.

ebay does not work that way. How automatic bidding works
When you place a bid, you enter the maximum amount you’re willing to pay for the item. The seller and other bidders don’t know your maximum bid.
We’ll place bids on your behalf using the automatic bid increment amount, which is based on the current high bid. We’ll bid only as much as necessary to make sure that you remain the high bidder, or to meet the reserve price, up to your maximum amount.
If another bidder places the same maximum bid or higher, we’ll notify you so you can place another bid. Your maximum bid is kept confidential until it is exceeded by another bidder.
There is no such thing as an auto-counter bid!

But there is such a thing as using friends to up the bids thereby inflating the price.

I’m waiting to post pics of my posters till after they come back from my friend who just so happens to be a custom framer. He is doing my St Charles and Lollapalooza ones right now.
I snagged an LA night 2 signed poster on ebay yesterday for $155!!!!! quite a steal if you ask me. Is there anyone out there with an extra signed or unsigned LA night one that would like to make a deal? I’d love to be able to get those framed together. I’m willing to pay more than what was paid at the show.
Let me know: flawlessutensil@yahoo.com
newb
Yea im in the same boat, i’ll post my entire collection once I get my new jems back from my framer..Likewise I have a friend that owns a framing studio and has done all my pieces throughout the years..He does a great job, and hooks up the price…still aint cheap but well worth it! I had a rule i’d only collect prints from the shows i’ve been to, but might have to break it after some of the pieces this year! 20 plus shows over 15 years would be overkill anyway. I dont think the band was doing many one-off’s in the mid-late 90′s to early 00′s for every show, shitty promos yes..

The Sacro print is gonna look much better when matted and framed. The mat I picked def makes the colors pop more! It’s embossed to, which is funny if its true Adam does it himself, why do it then pull all the posters last min??

…….umm, let me explain.
Lets say a person bids $50 for an item. The item started at 99 cents. So the auction will show the bid is at 99 cents (It won’t show that its at $50) The 99 cents is a minimal bid the seller picks.
So if you bid, lets say $5, its going to show the bid is now at $6 ($1 more than your bid). If you bid $10, its going to jump to $11 immediately after you putting in your bid.
Why?
Because the initial bidder entered $50 for his maximum bid. Unless you bid MORE than $50, it’s going to incrementally increase every time you enter a bid until you hit that $50 mark, that the previous bidder is willing to pay for the item.
Again, your competing with people from all over the world. If you’re not willing to pay more than everybody else is for the item, odds are you aren’t going to win the item. Its an auction, not a first-come first served type of system.
The top bidder wins. It’s not the thrift store. While you can find deals, hot items will have a premium on them, lots of times higher than retail.
While I understand the frustration with people buying stuff, then marking it up to make a profit, at least there is an opportunity for you to find items that you would have missed out on otherwise. This is America. Thats the name of the game, for better or worse.
I purchased the Red Rocks – night 2 poster for $50 from the merch both ($20 more than I should have paid at the very same merch booth)
I then went on ebay and purchased a signed Red Rocks poster – night 1 for $200.
Of course there was a mark up, however I was willing to pay that mark up for something I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to purchase otherwise.
Trust me, I’d love to have been able to purchase ALL of the nights posters for $30.
But low supply and high demand equals value and higher cost. Point blank period.
I’d suggest purchasing now. In a few years you’re only going to see these things go up in value.

can anyone out there tell me if TOOL had a concert poster for street scene 06?

I don’t think there was a poster for Street Scene, as the Print Mafia posters were showing up in 2007 (got the L.A. Nokia Theatre and the two Vegas ones). I don’t recall any posters for shows prior to that during the 10,000 Days tour.

As pointed out, it’s no loophole, just built in functionality with the Maximum Bid tool that Ebay supply
Personally I don’t buy most Ebay conspiracy theories. It’s easy enough to set a reserve on an Ebay auction, so I’m not sure why a seller would feel the need to have someone pumping the price for them, unless they fraudulently promoting the item as having No Reserve.

That is exactly why they do it!
Regardless, somebody ELSE still has to be willing to purchase the item. I think in most cases, you’re bidding against other people that probably want the item more than you, and are willing to shell out a few more bucks than you (not you spefically).
If for some reason the seller is “pumping” the price up through alternate ebay id’s, somebody out there still has to be willing to pay more than the “pumped up” price or the seller is going to pay ebay fee’s on an item he sold…to himself.
You’ve got to be realistic about things.
There is a small supply of these posters (highest run was 400), and hundreds of thousands of fans wanting them. The fact that they were sold for only $30, how can you not expect there to be an after-market for them?
I think if you get past the conspiracy issues, and can come to terms with the capitalistic nature of ebay(and every other store/restaurant/gas station/etc in America), you can find some great items. Now just start saving up those pennies.

Just got my Adam Jones Melvins poster in the mail and it is awesome. I also bought a signed San Diego poster on Ebay and I can’t wait until it’s here. Once they’re framed I’ll post them all together.

Wicked, I really like seeing everyones posters matted and framed… it makes them look very good and with the creativity of the colors chosen for the matts, it cool to see how they turn out…keep the pics coming!
BTW I have 1 night one LA unsigned poster and 1 night two LA unsigned poster and would like to trade them for two other unsigned posters…PM me please…
Cheers

anybody know the possibility of getting my hands on a poster from the September 28, 2006 show in Camden, New Jersey? the only link i found was a seemingly upscale, possibly shady, auction website–and it was sold almost four years ago!
