Please tell me what time you got those doodles in Seattle. I waited forever and they
never showed up! Was Tool on stage when you got them?? Very good score by the way!

I saw the OKC poster in Vancouver and decided if it was still there in Seattle I would get it. It was and I did.
As for what time the Seattle poster appeared, both the Seattle and Vancouver shows they came out right about 7:30ish. We got there when the gates opened and camped out at the main merch booth until they showed up. The main both is/was the one with the OKC poster.
    Thanks everybody…

Just curious: do they accept plastic, or just ca$h money? I don’t think I can justify dropping that kind of cash, but if presented with the opportunity, and if the poster and doodle kicked major arse, I might pull the trigger… although it’s doubtful.

Thanks for sharing and enjoy your swag.

While I don’t think its shitty, I do agree that all the other ones are way better thus far. BTW, the extra doodle poster never surfaced at the Xcel Energy Center. They must have something against Minnesotans or something

  10. BurlyIvesNo Gravatar | July 12th, 2010 at 1:38 pm

Wow! I was at the wrong booth!! The guy was telling me they were on the way the whole time! Would you mind telling me what the doodles cost? Also I know this is probably a
stupid question, but would you consider selling me one? I could throw in an autographed Seattle poster, and both of the Justin posters autographed plus WAY more money than what you payed for it. I’m just totally crushed I didn’t get one. Happy for you though
    bro.

  11. kittaanNo Gravatar | July 12th, 2010 at 1:47 pm

From recent posts on the other tour poster thread, they started out at $450, I believe (unframed) and then increased to $500, then $600, then most recently noted was $900 framed. I am not sure if any of that is gospel, but that’s what I remember reading.

There’s no way in hell I’m paying $900 for a doodled poster. $450 is bad enough…

Of course, they will increase in value, but I have no interest in buying it as an investment.

No dude, I didnt get one. :( Like I said, I had the same problem you did, they never came out. And thats weird I didnt run into you at the show cus I was traveling back and forth between every booth before the show asking everyone, a lot of merch people had their head up their ass, but some did know what I was talking about and most of them told me if they did it be brought to the main one. One lady security guard person told me he was drawing them now. I was the first to get let in and one of the last to leave. No doodle poster ever came and I had 450 in my pocket. So Idk? maybe he didnt think it was cool enough. The lady did say they may have been to valuable to bring out. So maybe its in some display case or something at Xcel? Who knows.

How much was the OKC in Seattle?

  14. grinchbcNo Gravatar | July 12th, 2010 at 9:55 pm

That’s what I would like to know as well Ben. $900 was too steep a price and the frame job was basic. It would’ve had to be redone. A second doodle showed up when the show finished as well, same price. Different show poster, can’t remeber which one though. But it was a similar complex doodle like the OKC one.

  15. lachrymologistNo Gravatar | July 12th, 2010 at 11:30 pm

I paid 300 for a simple Adam doodle in St Louis! While these NEW doodles are the bees knees, triple the price is not very reasonable!

And we are very happy with our $200 Houston Adam doodle!

  17. kmkennNo Gravatar | July 13th, 2010 at 1:58 am

Yeah, the OKC was $900 in Vancouver and Seattle. I needed the extra day to rationalize the purchase. The Vancouver and Seattle doodles were $300. They had 3 for each show and the doodles were all very similar. I was able to get my pick of both lots. Prices have really gone up however. I have an Adam “doodle” from the winter 2007 tour. That one was painted like the OKC (although the illustration was smaller then OKC) but that was “only” $250. Now he is “just” drawing with a sharpie and they are $300. Between the time we left the merch booth in Vancouver to watch the show and the time we checked back at the end, they did come out with another $900 poster for the OKC show. That one had a similar guy like mine but in red and kind of laying at the bottom. Blair posted a pic of the head on the Tool Army site.

Fucking embossments, how do they work?

  27. badkittygothgirlNo Gravatar | July 13th, 2010 at 1:34 pm

Definitions of embossment on the Web:

    * imprint: an impression produced by pressure or printing

Man the seattle poster is BAD ASS

  29. spiralout247No Gravatar | July 14th, 2010 at 6:06 pm

man, the san francisco show was bad ass! (and so was bumping into justin chancellor outside the bill graham before the show and getting to say “hey justin!” and “ROCK IT TONIGHT!!!”  his response, was “hey man, how’s it going?”  verbatim. cost me a lot less than these outrageously priced doodles did… but hey, capitalism is evil…blah blah blah… i dont think jello biafra called anyone out in tool on it during his siiiiiick set. hmmm… i’m weighing a free 3 seconds of face time with a member of the least fan-accessible band on the planet versus up to a $900 dollar/highest bidder framed memory… idk. what i do know is, the show @ bill graham on monday night was BY FAR THE GREATEST CONCERT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. PERIOD. and i can live with that. got to be there with all my brothers, stood dead center in the middle of the floor all night, crossed the threshold, levitated spiritually, and stepped through the shadow…somehow lived to share part of the story. pretty happy about that! 8~)

I got a signed Vancouve poster number 53/400 but it is missing the embossment. I know it’s legit because I bought it at the show from the merch booth. Does anyone know anything about or have any thoughts about this?

  33. badkittygothgirlNo Gravatar | July 20th, 2010 at 2:01 pm

NOMAD has said that Adam embosses the posters when he gets them. I know this may sound strange, but turn the poster over and look for it. One of our posters was embossed backwards (you could tell b/c the 2010 was backwards) and another poster was barely embossed on the front side and when we turned it over, it was clear as day. If you still don’t find it, he may have missed that one.

Well it looks like he missed this one cause there is definatly no embossment. it may hurt resale value but whatever I have no plans of selling.

  35. badkittygothgirlNo Gravatar | July 20th, 2010 at 2:59 pm

Than why do you care about resale value? Or do you have no intention of selling it now that you have realized there is no embossment?

I never had any intension to sell. That was just my first reaction when I saw it was missing the embossment. I really don’t care about the resale value. I’m just happy I got a signed one. Vancouver is my favorite poster from the tour.

Sometimes the embossing is just really hard to see. Turn over the poster and scan the back. You might not be missing it.

For those interested in buying an unsigned Saskatchewan, Canada poster, there is one being auctioned on eBay:

the embossment is a nice kind of novelty item to have on a poster. Do any other bands use their own seal and stamp on 400 posters a night?

It depended on the venue. It wasn’t until Red Rocks, I think, that they upped the order to 400. Both St. Charles and NOLA only had 250 posters.
