According to a recent post on the Tool Hotline, it’s been confirmed in the Team Puscifer message boards that there will be a West Coast A Perfect Circle tour.
No details have been announced in regards to dates and venues, or who will actually be in the band. It’s safe to say that Maynard, Billy and Josh Freese will be involved, but the rest of the bands makeup seems to be open at this stage. My guess is we’ll see some Ashes Divide members fill the slots.
Maybe I am reading too literally into this, but if the recording of whatever A Perfect Circle is doing is not finished, then according to the above quote, the recording of the new TOOL album would already be finished.
The new TOOL album may be ready to be recorded, but what hellboy quoted sounds like something is close to/is finished (On 8/17 they announced on WMMS in Cleveland recording for the new album is already FINISHED), so they can start touring in support of it (They are also launching a small world tour afterwards, which may or may not be expanded later).
Do you think TOOL is done recording their new album that they would be considering a small world tour around so soon after a previous tour?
Why do i get the feeling that shit rumors are being spilled out by people close to Tool and/or APC just to confuse the hell out of us all? eh… I’ll take what I can get I suppose.

Firstly, I don’t think Tool have recorded anything, and that corresponds with what I’ve heard from several sources.
I find it very hard to believe that APC have recorded a full album, I just don’t see when Maynard has had time, unless they’ve been sitting on a stack of material for some time now.
As I’ve seen/heard, the timeline is something like this:
<div>In response to elusives rumours comment – I definitely haven’t ruled this out. While I have no reason to doubt these sources, but the way they happened made me think twice, hence why I haven’t made a big song and dance about it. Also, I’m not convinced that Tool would tour at all in between recording and releasing an album, let alone to Australia.</div>
someone said the song “Watching” by Tash (me) sounded like 3Libras. I’m pissed cause i wanted it to be original but if its not i couldnt think of a better song for it to sound like….oh the frustrations of being an artist
Ok… let’s clarify. WMMS is one of the oldest, most reputable rock radio stations based out of Cleveland Ohio. The announcement was made at 11:45 pm on 8/17 on the “Big Rig Show” (I remember this because I was driving back to my office after an event). Teased as “breaking APC news” before “Judith” was played, they announced after the song that “Maynard has back-burnered his project with Trent Reznor for the time being , as the timing isn’t right. Trent is too busy working on a project with his girlfriend. Maynard said he has already recorded the new APC tracks, and will be heading to the studio to place the finishing touches on them as soon as he gets off the road with Tool. The new APC album will be out by the end of the year. After that, APC will do a small world-wide tour starting in January 2011, that may or may not be expanded later. And after the tour wraps up, he will then be heading back to the studio with Reznor for a new project. Great things are happening“. That’s the whole statement. There was NO mention of anything with Tool. It sounds like his focus is now APC again (for the time being) and then will be doing something new again.
Nice thanks for the info
I totally called it.

This basically more or less confirms Tool will be touring again soon most likely in Australia because he is quoted saying that he will go into the studio to put the finishing touches on the record when he gets off the road with Tool. Well heres the thing. This interview was don on 8-17 well after he got off the road with Tool so that means he meant when he gets off the road with Tool next time. Does that make sense?

Thanks for the clarification. I still find it hard to believe APC have recorded an album.

Quite a few months back Maynard said that Billy had all the instrumentals done and at that point he was just listening to the tracks in the car “waiting for things to fall into place” So it would not suprise me if Billy and the guys from Ashes have recorded an album of material and waiting for the final piece.
Damnit, im going to need a second job.
what project with TR!? Can’t be talking about Tapeworm cuz that was supposed to be dead way before this year no!?

what project with TR!? Can’t be talking about Tapeworm cuz that was supposed to be dead way before this year no!?
Yeah Tapeworm is dead and it will stay that, as i know.
So i guess this new project is “Tapeworm 2.0″, and they might revive and release finally those old demos! Damn, this autumn & winter & next spring is the shit for a mainly Maynard but also Tool fan! (for me it’s more, coz i’m a Trent Reznor fanatic as well)
Same here, HTDA was a disappointment. The girl’s voice makes it too damn poppy.
Hey everyone,
Apologies if this has been mentioned already, but Maynard did an short interview that appeared on Fox news (I believe this interview was from awhile back, possibly a year ago??) and MJK mentions (at the very end of the interview) that he “enjoys some travel, but that he doesn’t think his body can handle much more of it”. He is referring directly to touring, apparently. YouTube video can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SM8BjLw87o&p=65449E0664808463&playnext=1&index=47
So, there you go, we heard it straight from the horse’s mouth. MJK is getting on in years, and we should expect things to slow down on the touring side of things (more studio releases perhaps?). I expect this will be gradual.
I mention all of this in response to the sudden spur of activity all MJK-related projects are showing. My little humble opinion is that he is looking to wind down for sure, and by doing a whole spat of stuff, he’ll keep the fans satisfied… for awhile, but that the focus will be more and more on the wine making as years go by. Just an interpretation. I could be so wrong.
Thoughts?
i agree with you.
New project with Reznor?!
New APC album already recorded!?
Ahhhhhhh I’ll be so disappointed when these rumors prove false.
Another lurker (I assume) makes their first post! Welcome, and don’t be a stranger.
Yeah, I could see that happening, but I hope you’re not entirely correct in your assumptions. I would have close to zero problem with no more PussyFur or APC projects materializing in the future, but I don’t just want more TººL, I need it… to blah, to blah, to blah blah blah!
Addendum: after re-reading what I posted above about PussyFur and APC… I have to revise that. I was being too harsh. I do dig both projects, but to a much lesser degree than TººL. PussyFur was quite enjoyable live, as was APC. I enjoy much of the studio APC as well, but not the PussyFur for the most part. I’ve said it before, and still feel that his excessive use of vocal effects and electronic drums detracted greatly from the PussyFur material. Live, you begin to recognize the potential of what he’s doing. I’m really glad I kept an open mind and gave it a chance live.
the tour section of aperfectcircle.com has been updated. the dates for 2004 used to be under the “current” tab. theyve been moved to the “past” tab. making room for the new dates!

Why is there the assumption that Freese will be drumming? His website updated early in July: “Things are still be worked out in the fall as far as gigs go (for both DEVO and Weezer) and I’ll do my best to make it all work and keep you informed.” He’s pretty busy playing live shows with 2 big name groups already.
It makes more sense to me that Puscifer drummer Tim “Herb” Alexander might take up the skins this time around. Aside from having toured with MJK’s solo project fairly extensively, consider: 1) TA was APC’s original drummer and 2) TA is NOT appearing on the current Primus Oddity Faire tour, duties taken on by their original drummer Jay Lane; Alexander was their primary drummer for two separate 7-year stints, and relieving himself of that duty was probably not an easy decision to make. Some more touring with an MJK project, maybe?
Slave I
Mainly because Freese has been tweeting about it
How could Freese not drum for APC? The band would not be the same without him. Not sure if I would even go see them live if they replaced him. Unless Danny or Tim A. filled in for him.
Freese is just as integral to the identity of A Perfect Circle as Howerdel & Keenan, in my opinion.
I’m very happy to hear that APC is going to return. I’m a HUGE fan of both Maynard and Billy. I don’t know if they’ll play any new tracks . Regardless, I’ll be there. Both Maynard and Billy mean so much to me that what ever they do I’ll be supportive regardless. Thank you Maynard and Billy for this fantastic reunion! I look forward to the shows.

Puscifer demonstrates that MJK is perfectly willing to collaborate with a number of artists on a single project.
…Freese has been tweeting about it.
Couldn’t find exactly where he said he’d be involved for sure. I think the final lineup is very much up in the air still. Also, if Twitter is to be our guide for the potential future of APC, then we can presume the band would have Matt McJunkins, Jeordie White and Paz Lenchantin on bass, Troy Van Leeuwen and James Iha on rhtyhm guitar, and Danny Lohner on everything – in addition to Freese, Billy and MJK. The fact that all of the previous figures have been featured on the APC twitter signals to me that MJK and Billy want to move forward and don’t have a firm group put together.
who wants a meet up before the Vegas shows?
Is anyone doing anything before/for the Avalon, Hollywood show?
Party on, Garth.
I’m trying to plan a big meet up at Rula Bula before the Tempe show..
check it out http://www.rulabula.com/
from what I gather, I already have about 26 confirmed people to show up there around 4ish..who knows where we’ll end up the next 2 nights..can’t wait!!
Any ideas as to who will be the opening act?
no opening act. its an evening with a perfect circle.
no shit…this is why the ticket stub says “an Evening with”
thanks
I am so stoked for November, I already know the A Perfect Circle show will trump the other two concerts I will be going to weeks before (Stone Temple Pilots and Massive Attack).
I will be getting a poster for sure but I might be open to getting more.
which shows are you goin to? just got my plane ticket to phoenix a couple days ago. we’re flying in a day early and hittin the caduceus winery and the puscifer store. maybe the grand canyon. its gonna be so awesome. 3 more weeks!
If you read up, I was only able to get tickets to the first Avalon, Hollywood show where they will play Mer de Noms.
Hey I’ll be driving to Phoenix from TX and we were thinking about hitting up Jerome as well to visit the winery and Puscifer store. Got tix to all three shows. This will be the longest month ever.
If you use Facebook, there are a bunch of fan meet and greets being scheduled before each show date in all of the cities where A Perfect Circle is performing.
My friend and I will probably be attending the meet and greet scheduled below.

7 days…the countdown is in effect.. going to Jerome this Saturday (Oct. 30) to grab some wine for the shows, if anyone in the area wants to meet up and just hang out for the day…cheers!
Man, heres hoping that tool isnt finished with their writing when they come back from NZ/AUSTRALIA….that would allow maybe some time for APC to hit up the East Coast…..but if danny’s interview is correct and they finish writing before the mini tour in Jan….then its most likely maynard will be consumed with the recording/mastering of the new TOOL album and with his vineyard and not have room to spare for APC East Coast Tour…
