An email found it’s way into my inbox today carrying the following pictures for a Ultimate Edition of Tool’s Salival. According to the packaging, it contains the usual Salival stuff, as well as the Vicarious, Schism and Parabola clips. Funny that it mentions “Includes over 70 minutes” and then at the bottom says “duration: Approx. 58 min.”
No word from Tool about this at all, so I imagine it’s extremely likely this is a bootleg of some kind, so buyer beware…

Like Tool will ever put up LIMITED EDITION that big on anything they make….
August 14, 2010 at 9:00 pm
nice looking fake though
August 14, 2010 at 11:45 pm
…not to mention a certain notable band member left out of the photography at the top.

Ænema*
August 15, 2010 at 10:54 am
LOL…ya think Tool would probably spell the titles of their own songs correctly, eh?
August 16, 2010 at 12:37 am
Well there is the misspelled Laterlis….and they misspelled Aloke Dutta on the Salival credits.
August 16, 2010 at 3:04 am
any tool fan could have done a better job then that…
August 16, 2010 at 6:29 am
I stand corrected–maybe this *is* legit. 😉

I thought you were being sarcastic!
I couldn’t
August 16, 2010 at 7:51 am
Wait..what? I was being sarcastic about the set being legit…but I was serious about them spelling their own song titles correctly. I had no idea there was a history of misspellings on CDs..haha.
August 16, 2010 at 8:13 am
I like that the same title was mispelled on the same page or cover or whatever. Maybe if it was misspeled once they were going for authenticity, but twice, clear ignorance.
August 16, 2010 at 9:53 am
I love how they put a fake bar code on to make it seem more authentic
August 16, 2010 at 12:06 pm
I DEMAND to know who sent you those pictures of my Limited Edition Tool dvd..
;-}~

The guy who leaked it to me made me swear on Blair’s latest book to keep his identity hidden…
August 16, 2010 at 12:51 pm
Screw Blair’s book… This leaker must go !!
Some crazy person might try to steal it from me..
You know how Jealous these Tool fans are.. LOL
August 16, 2010 at 11:53 pm
The “ULTIMATE EDITION” on the front was the first giveaway. Made me chuckle a lil.
August 16, 2010 at 11:54 pm
I’m not seeing “Salival” anywhere on that thing. It’s just called “Limited Edition”.
August 17, 2010 at 12:05 am
The first supposed Salival “LTD” is fake.
Analyzing the second picture reveals a copyright date of 2009 on the bottom. Doing a UPC database search on that UPC number came up cold, no results. Aside from that, there are too many inconsistencies on the back for it to be authentic. It is most definitely a bootleg.
As for the second one… I have thoroughly analyzed the year printed on that disc, and I believe it says “2000”.
Theres my 2 cents.

@ AZB – CSI FourthEye. Nicely done.
August 17, 2010 at 3:36 am
the TOOL logo isn’t right either.. the T and L are off

fake
real

August 17, 2010 at 7:57 am
The lack of attention to detail made this attempt at a Salival bootleg a complete failure.
August 17, 2010 at 8:27 am
I enjoy how it seems like on the back, with the track listing, it looks like they tried to do a photo each, of each band member, except it looks like they didn’t know what they were doing and used 2 photos of Adam.
Yet another fail, for this “limited edition” Tool product.
August 18, 2010 at 6:31 am
The first thing that popped out for me was “What a terrible looking band logo.” They could also get into some legal trouble for putting the Dissectional copyright on there…call Adam’s brother!

Any word on this or other strange TOOL bootlegs? I haven’t seen anything like this on eBay so far, it seems like someone just designed, printed and packaged their own Salival bootleg just for the attention of a feature on FourthEye.

I found this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370510401578&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
In my opinion, even it’s fake (and it’s like 100% fake ;p), I like it 🙂
