Danny has been added to a lineup of drummers that will pay tribute to John Bonham at the Key Club in Hollywood this month.  On the 25th of September Danny will join the following drummers:

  • Steven Adler (GUNS N’ ROSES, ADLER’S APPETITE)
  • Vinny Appice (BLACK SABBATH, HEAVEN & HELL)
  • Kenny Aronoff (JOHN COUGAR, JOHN FOGERTY)
  • Frankie Banali (QUIET RIOT)
  • Bobby Blotzer (RATT)
  • Jason Bonham (LED ZEPPELIN, FOREIGNER)
  • Fred Coury (CINDERELLA)
  • Jimmy D’Anda (BULLETBOYS)
  • James Kottak (SCORPIONS)
  • Abe Laboriel (PAUL MCCARTNEY)
  • Khurt Maier (SALTY DOG)
  • Stephen Perkins (JANE’S ADDICTION)
  • Chris Slade (THE FIRM, AC/DC)
  • Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, CHICKENFOOT)
  • Brian Tichy (WHITESNAKE, FOREIGNER, BILLY IDOL)
  • Joe Travers (ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA, DURAN DURAN)
  • Simon Wright (AC/DC, DIO)
  • Zoe Bonham
  • Danny Carey (TOOL)

Each drummer plays their own Zeppelin song apparently.  No word on what Zeppelin song Danny will perform, but perhaps it’ll be No Quarter.

You can grab tickets for this event at Keyclub.com.

Sweet! This has made up for the mistake I made in buying tickets to the last Dodger game this year…I’ve never been able to show up early enough to catch batting practice and I thought I’d do that for the first time and see Joe Torre’s last game as manager too…only, I just found out they don’t do batting practice on Sundays…WTF!? I just got tix for this show and they came pretty close to the Dodger tix prices…can’t wait for this show…should be a lot of fun…and I’ll be representing with a Tool shirt, of course… btw, anyone wanna… Read more »

Who wants to see the Dodgers anyway? The Fighting Showalters of Baltimore are the hot MLB ticket now.

@ TAoutsider – Yep, it was No Quarter he jammed, just as we all suspected. I wish the audio quality was better, but the video was quite decent. Love that plexi Ludwig kit.

Anybody from 4E hit this show? I would have loved to have checked it out.

RIP JB

@Naattik – I was there…definitely good times…Danny being the highlight for me…but seeing all the other great drummers there was awesome as well…woulda been nice to see Danny give it a go at the end where most of the drummers sat in on Moby Dick for a few moments but, I guess he had to get home and get some rest to save some energy for the studio 😉 All in all a great show even though standing there for 4 hours wears on these getting-old legs…and good to see some Tool shirts there as well…Danny got the biggest/loudest cheer… Read more »

@ LnL37 – VERY cool you were there, and thanks for the response.

How did the house band do overall? There is such a potential for suck covering those classic songs…

While searching for more vid from the show, I came across this clip of Mark Romans jamming on JB’s Green Ludwig kit which I hadn’t see in a long while (I think someone posted it on TA way back). He sounds so damn good. And take a look at the shirt Jeff O’s wearing. 8`)

Musically I thought the house band was pretty good…Brian Tichy organized the whole deal and did the fist song(Immigrant Song)and then went out to play guitar for some songs to get the right sound, I guess. I never heard of the guitarist before, Brent Woods, and he was good but, just seemed like an ass. I was at the very front all the way to the right where a lot of cable was next to a cabinet so I had plenty of space to lean up on the stage and set my drink up there. Somebody directly in between the… Read more »

LnL37 – 3 hours ago  »  I just had an eye exam today and got my pupils dilated so I can’t see too good right now but, is that a DannyCarey.org shirt? Looks like it definitely. Reminds me of the show in LA back in July. Was sitting in my seat before the show when this one guy walks over and asks me about my shirt, wondering if they were selling it at the Merch Booths. I told him the shirt wasn’t (to my knowledge) sold at the Merch Booths and that I got it off Danny’s website a while… Read more »
