Monday will be a good day….

…to be an A Perfect Circle fan according to Billy’s Myspace page.  Combined with a Facebook update of “Stay Tuned” we can only guess that tour dates will be announced then.  Or perhaps just some more information regarding their plans.

In other social media related news, Junior posted on Facebook just a little while ago that he’ll be working with Devo the next couple of months.  Possibly importantly for us Aussie fans he mentioned that he’ll be “Done before January. :)”.  I’m pretty much 100% convinced now that Tool will be Big Day Outing.

Oh yeah!!

I really need to start saving. Hope they play a NZ sideshow, but won’t be too disappointed if they don’t.

Shit I’m almost feeling excited.

oh yeah! here comes the announcement of dates. or the announcment of the release of new material. any way, i am siked. i am crossing my fingers for the new material, and a tour with Seattle/Vancouver/Portland being 3 of the cities. i will go to all 3. with Tool in the studio working on a new album, and this, life is good. with new STP, PJ at their best, rumblings from Soundgarden, there is enough music to get me through another 7-10 years with the current state of music in the world being what it is. quite frankly, aside from TOOL/APC/STP/PJ/maybe… Read more »

You aint lookin hard enough

Agreed, there’s plenty of good music out there.  The problem is some people get very set in their ways, and very attached to the music they liked as a teenager.

I can appreciate that, hell, 18 months ago i would have probably been complaining about the state of affairs too… I like funk and dub now… who woulda thunk it?

The Weather is even better in Hawaii that time of year. Plus the venue TOOL played at last time they were here was alot more intimate than a bdo setting.

The current “radio” rock bands….Kings of Pion, Muse, to name a couple…. are not that good. i have tried, probably not hard enough, but if you have any suggestions… Read more »

You are who you are…… if you don’t like something, don’t try and like it. Everone sounds like a god damn hippy. Embrace your bad music filter and listen to the bands that you like. I am sure after 20 listens to Justin Beebs you’d be tapping your foot, snapping your fingers and singing along to all your now favorite Justin Beebs tunes, LOL!!

@ Busty, as for Funk, the Budos Bands are worth a listen, the new album, creatively titled “Budos Band 3” will rip you a funky new one. Funkadelic’s Maggot Brain is a classic, the title track will make you want to bust air guitar porn faces. Gil Scott Herons stuff, in particular “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised”. Public Opinion Afro Orchestra are fun too. Dub, Lee Scratch Perry, anything of his is classic rasta. Half Dub Theory, Dub Pistols, Easystar Allstars (RadioDread and Sgt Peppers are particularly fun) Jah Wobble and the Nippon Dub Ensemble (which if you ever… Read more »

@ Busty – Have you given Lettuce a listen? I dig what they’re doing, even if it’s not strictly Funk. It is Fonky! Here’s an example, Lettuce with Derek Trucks on ridiculous guitar.

Another band that I love, but is not strictly Funk: Fred Green. They’ve got a lot of influences (maybe too many?), and their more recent material is not necessarily my thing, but the older stuff is nasty/dirty/funky good.

If you check them out let me know what you think, good or bad.

Blender, yeah know a fair few of em but there’s also a few unkonowns so I’ll be sure to check em out & let ya know what I think. Cheers mate is much appreciated. If ya haven’t heard any of the bands I listed I can’t recommend any of em enough, especially Fat Freddys Drop. They take a while to truly grow on you but once they do they pretty much never leave your stereo. Fucking amazing band and one of the best live performers I’ve ever seen. Cheers to you kittan as well. Haven’t actually heard of any of… Read more »

@ Busty – Cheers, and glad you’re digging it. I have dabbled with FFD (do you know where the name came from? Great cartoon from the 70’s) but I will delve deeper on that recommendation. Speaking of live acts, both Lettuce and especially Fred Green kill live. Fred blew me away the two times I got to see them in the Bay Area. They are Arizona natives and don’t venture out here often. I would see them every single time I got the chance, they are that good. I’ll let you know my thoughts after checking FFD out some more,… Read more »
