According to reports from Cubanpete, Danny has been on Triple J this morning and mentioned that there will Tool sideshows in Brisbane and Melbourne. According to the release on the Triple J site:

Wed 2 Feb – Sidney Myer Music Bowl, MELBOURNETickets for both shows go on sale Monday November 8. Get more info at bigdayout.com
Big Day Out promoters have said that these will be the only headline shows for the band on this tour.

Also mentioned was that fact that the Williams sisters love Tool!
The tennis star was in Melbourne playing the Australian Open. Carey reports that both Williams sisters are big rock fans and that Tool got invited to watch Serena win that tournament.
"I’m hoping she’s going to do well again this time in the Australian Open and have us down. Last time we had so much fun and we got to watch her whip Sharapova’s ass. It was awesome so we’re kinda hoping that’s going to happen again. Got to do the celebratory dinner with her after with her Mom and her hitting coach…. It was a blast. I hope she comes out to the gig this time. She couldn’t get away last time because she had too much press to do. I know the feeling!"
Update: Also mentioned was that New Zealand’s Jakob will be supporting, which is no huge surprise given that Aaron Harris will be coming with Tool and has done plenty of work with them.

I can’t see any either, though at this stage I’m not sure we need any extra info. I’m pretty sure tickets will go on sale on Ticketmaster most likely at 9am. Pricing I’d guess will be around the $100 mark. If there’s a pre-sale I’ll be pretty surprised.

I’d probably rather Brisbane but airfares there are considerably more expensive than to Melbourne. Neither of the dates jump out as being particularly convenient for me (I was hoping for something closer to a weekend in Melbourne) so I’ll have to see how things go with work holidays…
I’ll probably end up trying to get tickets to both shows and see what happens…

If I were a Tool fan in Sydney I’d be more inclined to go to Brisbane. I imagine the Ent. Centre there is probably a better venue than the Music Bowl

The Gold Coast BDO is on the 23rd, and then the Brisbane sideshow is the 24th (the Gold Coast & Brisbane are about an hour apart)

So any tips or tricks to actually get tickets through ticketek? I used to get lucky with my purchases but have had no luck recently.
Ive tried logging in an hour before but you get logged out..And ive tried loggin in bang on 9am but the website is a grind….
I really dont want to miss out on these!

I’ve had a change of plans. My amigo talked me into going to the BDO.
All it took was Rammstein played extra extra loud and a reminder of how epic they were last time they came out.

Shervo mate, I’m not even sure what I’m doing myself. I’m going both sydney bdo’s bt was lookin to maybe sell them & go to brissie instead but I’ve just recorded my bands ep all weekend and spent more than I budgeted for so I don’t think it’s gonna be a reality for me 🙁
If I manage to sort something & it looks like Im gonna get brissie tix I’ll let ya know but it’s not likely
