Just announced on Fasterlouder is the following cool show on the 3rd of March at The Palais in Melbourne:
Primus fans the world over were thrown into fits of sporadic air-bass when the influential US rockers announced in April that after a five year hiatus they were back in business. It seemed only logical that the band would eventually be nabbed by one of our summer festivals, and Soundwave ended up being the perfect fit.
In addition to their performances at Soundwave the band has just announced that they will be playing a one-off Sidewave in Melbourne as well. Joining the trio on the night will be the Godfathers of Grunge themselves, the Melvins who released their 20th studio album The Bride Screamed Murder in July this year.
Word is that this will be the only Sidewave for these two bands, which I know will piss off at least one Sydney Fourtheye reader.

As amazing a line up that soundwave has, Primus is the only band I’m absolutely gutted to be missing. Wouldve bought a ticket for sydney but kept faith that tool were coming for bdo & could only afford one or the other. Good news everyone! I received a reply from Soundwave on their Facebook page stating that Primus/Melvins will indeed be doing additional sideshows in other cities. Which cities i don’t know but i would like to think Sydney will be one of them. Still holding hope for Brisbane which will make my credit card stop crying like a bitch seeing as i just spent over a grand on tix/flights to G.C,Syd,Syd(2),Melb BDO’s.

I’ve seen the Melvins at least three times (five if you count Fantomas gigs)and I hate Primus….with an undying passion.

REVIEW OF THE MELBOURNE SHOW: The Show took placeat the Palais Theatre in St. Kilda. For those not familiar, it’s a classic style theatre that seats about 3,000, or so. When I say seats, I mean seats… there is no standing allowed, particularly in the front 4 rows of the lounge at the front of the balcony and no alcohol allowed in the seated area. The sound was more than acceptable. I’d definitely be interested in seeing other shows there. The Melvins came on just about on time (7:30) and I thought they were fantastic.
