The first Sydney Big Day Out seemed to sell out pretty quick, so they’ve announced a second one in the 27th of January – same bands, same venue, same bat channel. Tickets go on sale on the 11th of October. In other related news Gold Coast Big Day Out tickets go on sale midnight tonight! Get on it Banana Benders!

A little, it happened last year when Muse headlined, and happened in the past when Metallica headlined. The Sydney Big Day Out almost always sells out, I guess now they feel that it’s worthwhile having a second show. Not sure why they don’t just announce two shows in the first place…
When Tool played back in 2007 it sold out super fast too, but I guess they didn’t see the need for a second show back then.

I’d imagine tool would’ve known about it? Surely they couldnt just add another date, which could potentially conflict with scheduling…
Do you think there will still be time to play some sideshows if they start announcing these 2nd day BDO’s? they might feel that this fulfills their obligation to the aussie crowd.. 🙁

While I think there will be sideshows, to not buy tickets that will probably sell out based on that assumption seems silly…

yea mate i gotta agree with Hellboy, i’m not risking not seeing Tool at all. we dont get many chances to see them down here and although i’d prefer a full show…and i have a contact that may be able to get me a ticket to one of the side shows, should they happen…..i’m still not risking it!

looking at the gap between Melb and Ade, it seems they’ve left more than enough time for a Melb Sideshow *fingers crossed*, whereas with the additional Sydney show, knowing tool like to have a night off fairly often, it would be quite a squeeze to fit the sideshow in… obviously only suggesting this from past experience and hoping for the alternate for everyone
Less of an assumption more to do with finances (just booked a holiday last week) which is why I won’t buy BDO tickets, not now anyways. There’s always a way of getting into BDO if need be, there’s that friend who wants to sell their ticket, the BDO announces way more ticket sales, and then the more frowned upon ways. While I understand that I’m going to have to get my shit together if there isn’t sideshows, it just makes more sense to me to wait and see what happens.

They don’t announce 2 Sydney shows for the simple reason to sell out the 1st show fast and have people buzzing.

Junior, cast your mind back to Auckland BDO ’07 not your department but what happend with the screens? they didnt start working until the third song of the set which was Jambi if i recall…FAIL! 🙂

I think considering they only get an hour after the last band finishes they do a pretty good job…

Being realistic once more, it appears to me it’s selling out at around the same speed as the last BDO.

We would have probably stalled the start of the show if they weren’t working and we had intended to use… Read more »

Yeah, I remember the same thing happening in Sydney both at the show and the BDO. The screens didnt really kick in until Jambi.
started work at 530 am yesterday, my alarm went off at midnight and i slept through it… then tried at 9am today to get tickets through ticketbastard and at 9:01 already had a 15 minute wait, on my iphone, battery died, No BDO.
