Melvins Earthquake Update

As I’m sure most of you know by now, Christchurch in New Zealand suffered from a devastating earthquake yesterday afternoon, resulting in a great deal of pain and damage for it’s residents.  The Melvins were in town having just played a series of gigs on the south island, and as the airport was closed were stuck in Christchurch last night unable to make it to their Wellington gig.  Details on… Read More »Melvins Earthquake Update

April Tool’s Day with Alex Grey

A recent post by Blair on Toolband refers to an event called April Tool’s Day to be held at the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors.  This even hosted by Alex Grey will feature a talk about Tool, as well as screenings of Vicarious and Parabola.  It’ll also feature a set from a local Tool cover band Schism.  Sounds like an interesting evening!

Tool Big Day Out Posters

I’ve dropped a few hints in the forums in regards to Tool Big Day Out Posters possibly being available online following the tour, and tonight I received the news that this is indeed the case.  Melbourne printers Beyond The Pale printed all of the posters for the 2011 tour (excluding Hawaii I think) and the leftovers, all unsigned are available from their website. Maynard in Wine Week part 2

Part 2 of the Wine Week interview with Maynard is now available on Youtube: Maynard on Wine Week part 2 An interesting interview for wine fans, Maynard talks about obviously the wine, how it effects touring, and also that he has no plans to export the wine to Australia (or presumably elsewhere).

Buzz talks Aussie tour

Buzz from the Melvins was recently interviewed by the AU Review, and the results are good: AU: My first question is, are you looking forward to Soundwave and do you like coming down to Australia? B: No, I hate everything about Soundwave and I hate everything about Australia. AU: That’s good. Glad to hear someone who’s honest. Most bands just suck up. B: No I’m kidding. I’m looking forward to… Read More »Buzz talks Aussie tour

January Tool Newsletter

One last post before I hit the road – Blair has posted the January Newsletter on Toolband, which contains plenty of references to the current tour.  It’s full of spoilers for those who are yet to see them live so consider yourself warned!

On The Road

Well, the time has come for me to hit the road and check out a couple of Tool shows.  As a result I’ll be largely offline the next couple of days, however via the wonders of mobile technology I will probably tweet now and then. The first A Perfect Circle gig in the USA for 2011 has just been announced at the Rock On The Range Festival in Ohio.  As… Read More »On The Road

Maynard speaks winemaking with 1 Wine Dude

Maynard tweeted this afternoon an interview that he recorded with the 1 Wine Dude.  It’s reasonable long (over 40 minutes) but I’ve just listened to the whole thing, and it’s well worth checking out, as Maynard touches on a range of subjects, including how wine making works in with his various band commitments.
