Adam posted on Facebook a little while ago a summary of his experiences at the WWE gig:
~Wow! What a blast.
Triple H and his wife Stephanie are big tool fans and asked me to open the show on live international television. Pretty FN crazy.
Vince McMahon ask for a demo so i emailed him one. How cool is that?
All the Wrestlers i met that night were so encouraging and supportive (thanx!).
John Cena joked "just dont pull a Christina Aguilera…"
And with that said, i apologize about the flub up in the first verse.
Some of the camera guys ran by me so close that i thought something was wrong.
Totally broke my concentration.
But to me the rest was a Home Run! The crowd was great. And i will now demand that at the end of any future solo i do

Sounds like he enjoyed it, and no doubt it would have been a fun event to play at. While there appear to be plenty of readers who dislike the idea of Adam “lowering” himself to play such an event (no doubt these same haters would have no objection if he played at their event of choice) I personally don’t mind it. If we put people up on pedestals then the only way they can fall is down…
If there us a demo you can be damn sure Maynards got a copy and is driving around in his car playing it and makin up lyrics. He said that’s how he writes with Billy when he’s on the road with other projects. I want that demo!
I imagine the demo was just of him playing Star Spangled Banner, not the new album.
Doubtful, if the guys in a Grammy award winning band as has wrestlers that vouched for his talent so I’m not sure Adam would record a demo to “qualify” to play a two minute very simple piece of music. It’s literally the first som I learned on guitar and I wrote my own version based on memory of all the notes.

Can somebody please upload the footage of Alberto Del Rio coming out ? Towards the end of the anthem he comes out and demands that Adam “Shut this noise up”. Then he picks Adam up and gets ready to give him a Hammerlock Front Power Slam when Danny jumps out and delivers a flying double-kick back breaker to Del Rio and then slams him through a Marshall Stack ?

the thing that i just cannot get over is that adam is soooooo secretive about everything he does. he almost never comments on anything on facebook, almost never makes posts with words on facebook, and now all of the sudden he is gushing over professional wrestling!?! i could care less one way or the other for wrestling, i just cannot understand why this is the thing that he chooses to make a statement with. i am seriously not trying to be a hater, although i am sure i sound like one. it’s just the simple fact that i am in shock.… Read more »

Doesn’t bother me in the slightest & it doesn’t change my opinion one iota of the band or the members but you do make a fair enough point.
For me as long as the music is good, then it really doesn’t bother me what they do in their spare time.
Yeah but lets be honest, tool are more than just music, and I think Adam doing something like this does contradict their message a little. Doesn’t bother me all that much though, it is more just a little confusing thank anything (like ebackwardse outlined)
It’s strange to see this much backlash… Since this band was formed, it seems they have taken great care to put the focus on their music. Very little interviews compared to similar artist’s with a large following, music videos featuring everything BUT the band members, and a stage presence that most of the time takes your attention away from them and on some other visual aspect of the stage. Am I the only one NOT surprised by this? Seems like if you’ve paid attention over the years this isn’t shocking at all. Adam is a well-known sports fan*, video game junkie, etc. It’s really not that far outside the realm of likely scenarios. Some people act like the band members are these monks sequestered in a holy chapel year round doing nothing but drawing sigils, smoking DMT and communing with the “angels” when they’re not busy nosing through a Crowley book (something that’s really more Danny’s thing than anyone’s from what I gather). How does Adam doing this “contradict” Tool’s message. This wasn’t Tool doing anything, it was Adam. These guys can’t have interests outside of the occult, and Crowley, turning off tvs, and shit like that? They can’t enjoy some goofiness at all? I’m sure everyone would’ve probably thought it was soooooo cool if Adam would’ve done this at like Arrowhead Stadium before a Chiefs game or something, because it’s football and not lowly wrestling. I find it hilarious that, people are taking offense to something that adam did in his spare time for some friends. Next thing you know Maynard will sing at a video game party, or be a in a commercial, or will sell you wine with help from his image, or maybe Danny will even partner with a drum company and do ads for his products, or Adam could get the licensing to a commercial comic book and start writing something based off a TV show, or maybe Tool will collectively license their songs for video games and movies…..oh wait ……….

That would kinda be adick thing to say…I imagine it would be an honor if asked and I think most people would say yes….I’ve performed our anthem a lot and also i sang Oh Canada once, in a bar, in front of a lot of people because I lost a bet but I still nailed the hell outta that one, baby…:P
