Ok _________’s, Blair recently put out the August Tool Newsletter. It’s reasonably short, and only really contains a couple of Tool snippets, the most important probably being:
(in regards to the new Tool album) Just when things were rolling along at the loft with the writing and arranging sessions (and what I’ve heard so far sounds truly great!)

So good news then. My mail is that 6 songs are now pretty much ready, though I suspect that we won’t see Tool recording anything in 2011.

Plus, after Puscifer gets off the road come the holidays-all members usually go do their own thing of which I’m sure we’ll see a picture of DC at his table smiling with a feast in front of him. They just need to e-mail all of us a fucking itinerary already so we know what’s up.
If only six songs are “done” after 18 months of writing….it’s not going to be a double.

LOL. Tool needs to email out an itinerary to all its fans. Preferrably in a calendar spreadsheet format that combines all their calendars and planners into one super calendar. It would show us the days in the studio with Tool, puscifer tour times, APC studio time, and each member’s personal shit listed out. I want to know EVERY minute of every day for the next year and a half of what they are doing. Is that so much to ask as a fan??? An Excel spreadsheet of the bands budget in regards to a tour would be nice as well. And the more petty details the better like, “If Adam were a tree, what kind of tree would he be and would Maynard pee on that tree knowing it was Adam?”

It’s pretty much Aussie slang for “my sources indicate”. I would imagine the 6 doesn’t include segues, which I suspect are largely created during the recording process.

I read into that there is likely to be 6 “works in progress” but I don’t think anything is complete as such. Blair isn’t sure if Maynard has been involved yet, nothing he’s heard yet has vocals. That doesn’t mean there aren’t any, though it was suggested that there most likely will be soon. my bet would be that after this new TOOL album comes out w/ some touring. Maynard is done with TOOL and will focus on his wine and puscifer to help with funds. i really don’t see any more TOOL or APC. after TOOL’s new album as far as i know APC or TOOL do not have any more contractual obligations. i hope i’m wrong it’s just the way i see things going.

I’d be hugely surprised if they released an album without a tour. I think people read far to much into Maynard’s “attitude” towards the band.
^ i did say there would be touring and i’m sure it will be a world tour. i don’t think Maynard has an attitude toward the band. i personally think there all kinda brothers.

There’s most likely around six songs being composed plus a bunch of stuff – stuff that will no doubt morph into three or four more tracks (hopefully).
Really puts it into perspective regarding how slow these guys work. I mean…six songs – 18 months of writing. That’s glacial, not just slow! Recording probably not before February ’12.
Still another year or so to wait. Hmmm…what’s coming out in the meantime?: Swans, Skinny Puppy, Soundgarden, Secret Chiefs 3 (maybe), Bjork, Mastodon, Sunn O))) (maybe), Throbbing Gristle, Fantomas (maybe but don’t hold yr breath)…

They are the only band I have to see live each tour, more so than tool. For less tahn obvious reasons.
