Blair’s October 2011 Tool newsletter has been released, and it’s the Samhain/Halloween edition! A relatively short one, but touches on the bands apparently commitment to getting the next album done, as well as a range of other interesting (or irrelevant depending on your point of view) topics.
Apparently in the next newsletter there might be some news on the new Tool website.
Don’t forget that tonight Blair will be playing some tunes on Children of Saturn, and Puscifer will be appearing on David Letterman playing Conditions of My Parole.
You forgot to mention practically begging everyone to get some sort of Winter Tour rumors started.
Sorry if this isn’t really ontopic but is there a way to see the Letterman Show live online?
^ Not that I know of, although I’m sure it will be on the interwebs soon after it has aired.
I heard that Tool was goona be in NYC for the ball drop live with Ryan Seacrest.
Damn, I was wrong…turns out David Freese’s song wasn’t Stinkfist…
😉
I don’t think anyone wants to start a rumour about a Winter Tour, as that would only delay the album further…
Unless we’re talking a southern hemisphere winter, or winter 2012/13, in which case it’s not even worth rumouring – it’s not rocket science to figure out that after the album there will be a tour!
….do we really need another 10,000 days tour?….hell no…. we need the next tool album… and hopefully blueray ….and another tool album.. it has been this way for aeons ….
I’d be happy to blow some $$$ to support a Winter Tool Tour!
this, as long as setlist is similar to last year and not 3 years ago haha
At this point I would gladly shell out a hundred bucks for a seat to see the 2007 setlist
Vicarious
46n2
Stinkfist
Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned
Schism
Wings 1&2
Lateralus
Jambi
Whats the problem with that setlist again????
Agreed. I enjoyed that show and would love to see wings 1&2 live again.

I expect most complainers fall into one of two categories:
Some shows they played Flood
🙂
And Again..
;-}~
Let’s be honest though, would you guys rather another tour, or an album in 2012?
Both!
Both!
The best solution for those that want both is to hope for a late 2012 tour rather than an early one…
They did in Dallas! 🙂
Album..
Then “The 2012 End Of The World Tour”
;-}~
So……………..the new album’s doing what now?

Nothing really, they’re just writing some more.
Its interesting that Blair specified late winter, instead of winter or spring. His prediction seemed fairly specific.

I hear the mainland get pretty cold during the winter and creates things like snow and stuff so they should probably play a place that’s warm.

Florida?
^ see that’s why I like Hellboy. 100% quality smart ass. Gotta respect that. Don’t even talk about snow after that freak October Nor’easter. Of course the fucking conservatives point to that and say there is no such thing as global warming. And of course those silly fucks have absolutely no idea about the science involved. Freak storms are very much a product of global warming. This is meteorology 101. The warmer the atmosphere is the more energy there is available for storm formation. It is about instability. Global warming doesn’t mean winter disappears. It means more severe seasons and… Read more »
Must be hard to write a Tool album. I guess when your older and rich, ,there isn’t much reason either.
@Mog Gimme a break. Man made global warming is a fraud. Meaning that the concept that carbon monoxide has anything to do with climate change in the manner in which see lying politicians and paid off scientists claim is a fucking joke. You obviously only listen to shallow and brainwashed sources. And no, I’m not “right wing” . I’m a human being doesn’t fall for bullshit for very long. You should do the same. Taxing us to death and making us follow the U.N.’s Agenda 21 bullshit is not how you deal with so called climate change. It’s all part… Read more »
Let’s keep this on topic please. Keep your conspiracy theory views for another more appropriate thread.

Climate change is a conspiracy theory? Not sure how that works when 98% of the scientific community all over the world has proven it is a fact. The other two percent are in the oil lobby’s pockets. Do what you want with the posts.

The comment wasn’t to agree or disagree with one view or the other, was more to get you both to stfu.

You should know by now telling me to stfu is a sure fire way to keep me talking. But in your case I actually do respect what you do with Fourtheye so I will play ball. Just be prepared to smuggle me into Australia if Romney or Perry wins the Presidency.

Feel free to debate the climate issue to your hearts content in the appropriate thread. Just not in this one.
Tool album…. I think you Aussies are going to luck out. Late 2012 release, probably November or December, which leads me to think that they would probably start touring around BDO time like they have the last couple of years.

Yeah, I’d say there’s almost no chance we’ll see Tool down here before 2013. Winter here in 2013 would seem somewhat likely, presuming they aren’t doing the Euro festival loop.

Yeah, I’d say there’s almost no chance we’ll see Tool down here before 2013. Tool seems to love playing down there. The setlist(s) you got earlier this year were outstanding. Third Eye and You Lied. I have never witnessed them play You Lied live in all the years of being a Tool fan. I… Read more »
Festivals this spring/summer.

Paul Shaffer solo on Conditions… that was cool!
OK for a studio preformance. i never cared for PS.
Conditions sounded good this evening! Hopefully see Puscifer in December. Cheers!
I dug it.
’’Paul Schaffahhh!’’
As long as Paul Schaffer doesn’t tour with them
good sound
need a new drummer though left handed people got no reason like short people
carina looked delicious
they edited themselves too which i thought was good
did you hear the dude who yelled first when they were introduced
peace sign by Maynard at the end = groovy
It was Jeff Freidl on drums I presume?
Puscifer honestly just killed it. I love that song, one of their hardest. Iv said before it reminds me of “Maynards Dick.” catchy riff. Worth watching. Also, Megadeth playing on jimmy Kimmel. Yes, i would rather see a new Tool album before a tour. However, I am located in Chicago and would hope for a show, with a good set list, which is about the only thing that would make up for it. Lets be honest, I would be stoked. If i was in Australia, I would be rightly so pissed off. But, if they do, they obviously know its… Read more »
I don’t want for them to tour until their new album is put out. I feel like Maynard is disconnected to Tool on stage (playing the same songs they’ve played for years) and some new material may help him come out of his hole and maybe enjoy it like he used to (even in 2006/07).
There is a distinct energy difference between 2009-2011 Tool shows and the recent APC shows from Maynard. He has seemed to have more energy at the APC shows.

Where did you see them? That may make a difference.
At my 2007 they did Wings and he seemed to really get into that song and Vicarious (where he sang the end).
I agree he seemed really animated and vocally on it in 2011. I saw him in Hawaii and he nailed it. I think as it is for a lot of musicians, its a day to day thing, how you feel, mentally and physically. The really really great ones manage to perform. Tool usually does.
FYI, here is a link to the live performance:
