Tool February 2012 Newsletter

Just to keep you all on your toes, Blair has posted the February Tool Newsletter for 2012. It doesn’t contain anything too exciting, but it does contain an apparent answer to the 10,000 Days puzzle.

Let the complaining commence!

Also, there’s a great photo of Justin!

Tool songwriting in progress...

<blockquote cite=”comment-52359″>Yep. Although a degree in neuroscience doesn’t make them a scientist. They probably just have a BSc in neuroscience. I doubt anyone who works professionally as a scientist in a lab would a) have the time to read up on such bullshit in depth or b) have the mentality to even take an interest in that bullshit. So yes, I assume they are some random stoner who happens to hold a degree.

Seriously? The guy started comparing the Pot to a fucking benzene ring. Jesus. Every word of that email is grade A shit.

Another person that doesn’t know what “troll” means.
God dammit, do we have to refer to the examples?

AVC: Do you ever jump online to read fans’ interpretations of your songs?

    MJK: Oh, God, no.

AVC: It’s amazing, the depth that people go into. The general idea seems to be that you’re gradually revealing clues with each new album.

MJK: Isn’t that great? They’re playing it backwards, and they’re like, “You’ve got to get a Slurpee, but only half-full, and when you’re drinking the Slurpee, right at that last slurp, the rhythm of the slurp coincides with…” My God. Are you kidding me?

AVC: Some people think there are three tracks on 10,000 Days that supposedly form one hidden track that’s the key to the whole album. It’s as if people want to believe there’s going to be some ultimate aesthetic payoff.

MJK: [Laughs.] We can barely decide whether we’re going to do a baseball cap or a beanie. You know what I mean? Now, granted, if you subscribe to the whole spiritual, energetic level, when you get into that weird, meditative state… I’m trying to think of the word… Sufis? I don’t remember—the whirling dervishes. When you get into that weird state, at some point, your body clicks out, and you have a weird out-of-body experience, and so you can tap into those things unconsciously. So if people are reading into those kind of things that basically had nothing to do with us, that are just us clicking in a moment and being true to that whirling-dervish process of emoting with each other, some of that stuff just might naturally, accidentally come out. But it’s not in any way a product of our design.

Great post on Trolling. Where it really started, what it was originally used for, ect.
If you don’t get it, you probably cant, and that’s the beauty of it.

    Absolutely beautiful.
I commend you for your find and then take away my commendation due to you belonging to that shitty LoL community.

I actually was linked to that from an old Warcraft III buddie. I do play LoL, but that community is terrible. I wish they had a /ignore all function i would use it almost every game.

If people treated SECRET CHIEF 3 songs the same way they do TOOL, this would be a better world.

The amount of analysis that goes into TOOL songs is utterly fucking ridiculous.

I mean, weed is great, sure, but there comes a point where you have to put the bong down, open your door, and step the fuck outside.

personally I think the whole puzzle BS is just that…
its just BS from Blair pulling strings and playing puppet master to the Tool masses.
either way I could care less about a supposed puzzle or the tree of life.
I enjoy the music/art and will continue to enjoy it regardless

I just got DOTA2 a few days ago. So far it’s been hard for me to get into.

If you’re ever looking to play either LoL or DOTA2 feel free to add me.

BlindandCynical on both Steam and LoL

Peoplee Sure get pretty insecure and insulting when their somethings posted that’s beyond their capabilities of understanding..

For a bunch of supposed Tool fans, there sure are a lot of negative and judgemental a$$ holes on here.

Tool fans are generally a bunch of negative and judgmental assholes.

By the way, we’re big boys, we can use swear words.

^ I disagree with “generally”. That bunch is just the loudest….online of course.

In my opinion online Tool fans are the most bearable.

I’ve never seen so many shit heads in one place than at a Tool concert.

  15. newb

I agree that Tool concerts have more than their fair share of douche bags, but for the most part those tend to be “fans” there cause they wanna hear Sober and nothing else. Same as any other band and their most famous song.

  16. Lord Muck

You’ve got those meatheads and then you have the weirdos that look like they’re going to shoot up the place.

Great job, and it only took a neuroscientist to figure this out. Thanks, my friend!

  21. newb

Thanks Cheese, it would not let me get on Toolband as it kept redirecting me to join toolarmy instead. I guess defaulted over and over to toolarmy instead of toolband. Figured it out though and thanks for not responding like Fuckface crow.

Crow for someone who has been all butt hurt about the way some people have responded to you here you sure don’t mind dishing it out.

Good job Polar Bear and Crow, you caught that I misspelled “there” while typing real fast at work, your editing skills are amazing. I guess I was one of those unimaginable tool fans that actually has time to have a graduate degree and a real job that is still able to find time to listen to tool all the time and try to whatever ignorance I can listen and look for insights in their music and lyrics..
Thanks for proving the negative ASSHOLE part though, and yes I am a big boy as well, but at work have to watch what I type.
    Peace and cheers to all..
