Hi Everyone,
You may or may not have noticed that the Fourtheye forums are down at the moment. I need to collect some usage stats for my ISP, and the only way I can do this is to bring the forum down for a couple of days. They will be back, so don’t worry!
In the meantime, the usual Fourtheye news will continue, and you can feel free to comment on the many exciting articles I’m sure to post (or not post) in the next couple of days.
I shall let you know when the forums are back in action!
Cheers,
Hellboy
Anyone experiencing withdrawals yet?

Yeah, pretty much! Let’s hope it is up sooner than later.
Haha, don’t panic guys, we’ll be back. It turn things back in in about 30 hours or so. I should have collected the data I need in that time…

Stay thirsty my friends.”

I miss the boobie thread already 🙁
I’m quickly finding out the Fourtheye forum is yet another vice of mine, complete with withdrawal and everything
@ kittaan STOP POSTING MY PICTURE ON THIS SITE !!!!!

Everything is going just fine here. In fact I think a little break was a great suggestion…

All things going well. Forum is likely to be back up not too long after midnight PST
Just checking in. Good to hear, Hellboy. Cheers.
Gonna be patient and wait it out……….
No one else has posted this so here it goes:
Blair updated Toolband at 12:30PM today saying: “Hence, the guys were able to get more writing done on Monday! ”
Newsbreaker!
@bigboy
Yeah… I guess I have to say “Any news is good news” and just leave it at that.
Agreed that any news is good news. Some people get/act all riled up about them recording/not recording. Personally I don’t care when new material comes out. I am happy with listening to the albums (except 10k days) and bootlegs over and over (still has not gotten “old” in over 10 years now). I just wanted to put it out there to try and foster some discussion while the forum is down. Only thing I am concerned about is when will they tour next? I’m thinking the next time they tour will be the last. Therefore I have been saving my… Read more »
good news i’ll see you all tomm. 🙂
should we be on topic here as well
@bigboy. I’m in no hurry for a new album either, but I don’t see another tour comming until that happens. Btw why don’t you like 10 000 days?
@Undertow00 – Its not that I don’t like it outright, its just that I personally don’t find it very listenable. Most of the time I like upbeat faster tempo music. 10K days is pretty slow IMO. The jams are good, but again I think the album is mostly too slow (understandably since its was heavily influenced by his mothers death). Rosetta Stoned (mostly only during sunsets when I’m driving, weird right?) and the ending of Right in Two are about the only things I listen to off of that album. I’m one of those weird people who like Opiate and… Read more »
Undertow has been my album of choice as of late …. I remember when that shit was brand new .. Woah
Yeah you are right.
Here is how we get back on topic:
Me: This forum upgrade sucks.
You: Yeah it does suck
Me: Well thats about all I have to say. That was a good conversation
You: Yeah I don’t have much else to say about the topic either
Me: Want to talk about the news of the band recording and our opinion on 10K days?
You: insert smartass comment about being on topic here.
@baseball – I have been favoring Undertow as well here of late. But the recording that gets the most play with me is the Dallas night 1 and 2 live capture from this tour. High quality and a good setlist between the two shows.
Ahh the memories I was at those 2 shows and went to the Vegas and Tucson shows as well that first night in Dallas was just POW right in the kisser
It was PowRITK until they decided to pull out of playing Ticks and Leeches.
I didnt get to go to night 2 b/c of the AXS ticker cluster F. I have been waiting since 2001 to hear them play T&L live in person. I thought I was going to get it night 1, then DC had to go and screw up the intro so they went into Sober. That was only time I’ve ever cursed DC’s name.
Yeah, this fucking sucks!! Need my fix!! I never realized how interesting you people are. Sometimes rude, and overly opinionated, but I love it. See you fuckers soon!!
Yea man that was a rough moment…. And that ticket bs pissed me off I didn’t even buy tickets to Dallas because of that stuff but one of my friends couldn’t go and had bought tickets to both nights so I jumped on it …. Mayne for your sake ticks will be on the next tour … Then again probably not
:(…
Random thought : I have the sudden urge for them to bust out crawl away live with the way they sound now
T-minus 4hrs 50 mins if HB hold his word
Won’t be exactly then, but all things going well shouldn’t be much more than an hour or so later.
@bigboy I totally understand your 10000 days theory. It’s definitely good for those long drives! 10 000 days til the next album maybe.
I’m interested in knowing what kind of statistics his hosting company is wanting to have. Statistics that take more than 24 hours to collect? Its data and its all digital, can’t you just upload it all in a few hours?
Looking at resource monitoring to be precise – these figures are generated over a 24 hour period.
Today has been the slowest day ever. I need my boobie thread.
Resource monitoring to help fix the lag problem? or just random data collection
Holy crap look how young maynard looks here: Metal Edge Magazine Pull out poster
Fourtheye uses shared hosting (for now) and the ISP is complaining that resource usage is too high for this kind of environment. What I’m trying to determine is now much of the usage is due to the new forum, and the best way to do this is to disable access to it for about 24 hours so I can get a clear picture of the usage change over time. Doing it for an hour isn’t as effective, as only a portion of the world uses the site at any given time, 24 hours gives a better image of what happens… Read more »

Made this … Don’t know if the link works tho haha
That was a good explanation for those of us not in the computer/networking world. Thanks for laying it out that way, it makes much more sense now. Were you ever able to determine during the user purge how many actual active users we have as opposed to a total user number? Also if you can/are willing to say, how much traffic was the site getting during the last tour, and what kind of page loads/hour does the site get now compared to during the tour? Does your hosting company offer those neat little maps that show where the traffic is… Read more »
I’ve had a range of web stat tools running on Fourtheye over the years, some of which did what you suggest. At the moment though Google Analytics is the only tool collecting stats (excluding whatever tools the ISP have set up on the server).
Pre-tour, we averaged around 5,000 pageviews per day. During the tour at it’s peak Fourtheye was getting about 40,000. That’s settled down a bit since, then, but we now average around 9-10,000 per day, more if there’s an interesting Tool article blogged.
wow 40K page views during a tour is not too shabby for a “non official” fan site.
I cant imagine toolband gets anywhere close to that (mostly b/c it is useless) before, during, or after a tour
thanks for the stats knowledge
i wonder how many of the 40K were for the tit page…
Thanks for your hardwork Hellboy!!!
I’m 1
Titty posts aren’t gonna be tolerated on the blog. Wait another couple of hours before fapping… (HB)
Another vague Blair update. Tool is writing. Okay we already knew that but thanks. Some kind of update as to how far along they are would have been nice. April is right around the corner. Coming up on 6 years since 10,000 Days. Tons of fans out here ready and waiting to spend lots of money on all things Tool related.
