An article on Toolband today reveals a new snare drum in Danny‘s arsenal, this time made of glass. The post reveals:
Aaron Harris shows me Danny’s new prototype GLASS SNARE while dismantling the drum kit that will be used during TOOL’S performance at the RIVER’S EDGE FESTIVAL on St. Paul’s Harriet Island SATURDAY, JUNE 23. Aaron will be Danny’s drum tech for the gig, so let’s hope the damn thing is shatter proof.
Let’s hope it’s stronger than your typical Radiohead stage! Here’s a pic:
In other news Blair posted some stuff about a thing called a Patuxent Monster. I’m sure there’s probably some kind of code hidden away in there somewhere – first one to decipher it gets a free months subscription!
So.. taper roll call for Michigan?
Cant wait to hear this bad boy.
“Let’s hope it’s stronger than your typical Radiohead stage!”
Too soon, man. Too soon.
Gotta love Southern Maryland getting a shout-out on the ‘ol Tool website.
Of course Blair gets his facts a little mixed up about the whole drone crash. Mechanicsville isn’t on the Eastern Shore (where the drone crashed), not even close really. Just had to interject with my home-state facts.
Southern Maryland represent.
Thousands of “drones” are in the sky overhead right now. It’s nothing shocking. We’re living in that brave new world already, just nobody notices or gives a shit.
No hidden message in the Patuxent monster story. Just an interesting read on the bizarre world we live in. Aliens, drones, conspiracy…its better than the movies!
The thing he calls a monster in the pic is really your average Skate (sting ray family, found in almost every coastal area on earth). The skate in the pic has its fins (or wings) cut off.
Someone died very tragically at the Radiohead show, today, and I don’t appreciate your joke.
I know you don’t like them but really…… was the Radiohead joke about someone dying really necessary?
Would you complain if the joke were about Nickleback?
I think making a joke about someone dying who is part of a band that you do or don’t like is absolutely terrible. But to answer your question yes I would.
Yes.
Someone call the karma police
Stop being such a Creep.
Relax on HB about the Radiohead thing. It came off as a tongue in cheek sort of thing and I am sure he was not making light of anyone dying. That glass snare looks incredible. Would love to hear what it sounds like. Still not sure why Aaron from Isis is doing the drum tech gig. Aaron is far too good a drummer to be working as a tech for Danny. That said, DC couldn’t find a better drum tech on the planet. Really looking forward to hearing Aaron’s new band, Palms, with Chino from the Deftones as the singer.… Read more »
How do you know there aren’t going to play anything new?
The fact Maynard said he hadn’t rehearsed with them would suggest there certainly won’t be anything new featuring him singing
I know. I was just being argumentative.
Yea, that was a red flag for me, when he said he wasnt rehearsing, fuuuuuck. Really wanted something new. Better get a rad set list!
Glass drum kit however will be sick. Bet it would look sweet with their light show and screens bouncing off of it!
Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if the setlist is like the standard one from the last US winter tour (which had some awesome songs). Just assuming that since they aren’t all rehearsing together and those songs are probably still freshest in their muscle memories. That glass snare looks gnarly.
That’s a K & S snare. Pretty cool. Not really a prototype though and he’s had it for a while from what I understand. I’d still like to hear it.
