The much antcipated Joe Rogan show with Maynard is now online, and as expected is quite good! It’s a long and interesting conversation where Maynard touches on a range of subjects including Tool, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, Wine making, Martial Arts, Drug experiences, Lateralus, wrestling Tool fans and much more. Well worth the listen.
For those taking notes nothing specific was really mentioned in regards to progress on the new Tool album, though Maynard did talk about the songwriting process.

It almost sounded like at one point when he spoke about his writing process, that he would be writing with the band “this week”, but he stopped himself before actually saying it. LOL.
I think he’s learned to just not talk about the band at all. I guess i don’t blame him when you take into consideration how insane Tool fanatics are.
Yeah, I somehow came to Not give a shit about the album and just follow the people.
Good inspiration, interesting things..blabla, just follow their website and give up the Tool shit, when it’s ready you’ll know it, you’ll love it, you’re gonna masturbate all over it.
^_^

Every fucking part of my un-evolved soul wants to flame, insult, and curse you to hell…every time you post your dribble… Can you please think about that? In the meantime, I’ll go perform some sacred rite to… Read more »
@pflame
Well go ahead and “flame” me. Get it out of your system. You might feel better.
your hatred is born of ignorance, which is what most humans choose in this lifetime. So, im guessing you’re just another predictable douche-siphon that has shitty cloned opinions and naive world views all around. I’d probably die laughing if you had the balls to actually explain why my posts piss you off so much.
Lets try that. Waiting…..
Maynard’s married? What the fuck?
Yeah, like three months ago. They didn’t really make a big spectacle of it, so it was easy to miss. Up until this point, I don’t believe it had really been confirmed.
Has been acknowledges but never really publicised. Here on Fourtheye I choose not to report on personal matters in regards to band members unless there’s a public statement of some form (such as when Justin posted pictures of his wedding on Toolband).
I’m seriously still watching this. The part where they talk about hip tossing the fan had me laughing harder than I have for MONTHS. And then he goes into digital format geekery… This video made my night. Thanks Hellboy for the share. Only 3 hours of the interview left!
We’re having a child and it’s going to be blue!
At first I thought there would be no way in hell I’d listen to a two hour podcast, but I enjoyed the entire thing. It totally changed my opinion on joe R. too. I know Maynard takes a lot of heat around here, but I believe he’s incredibly insightful on numerous levels and his inspirations and philosophies are of such that demand respect and appreciation. He’s very well rounded and it’s his lyrics as much as anything else that drew me to Tool years ago.
great podcast! w00000000t!
Very awesome interview. Maynard seems happy and I’m happy for him. I can’t wait for him to meet up with the guys and start working on the album, but he clearly has other interests and I hope he peruses whatever gives him the most happiness, so that when the album does come along he will be in a good place to make some awesome music.
That was great. I found the Hicks conversation to be my most enjoyable part. “He stopped by Detroit to tap me on the way out”. I liked how he explained how he had that period where he felt out of touch with the world and couldn’t get anything to go right. I have those type of periods every now and then too, where you just feel like an idiot and can’t remember what you were supposed to be doing. Also I liked the insight on how he writes. I had sort of pictured him sitting in a cellar or home… Read more »
