Not trying to bag on anyone here, but just out of curiosity- what’s up with Meshuggah getting a lot of pub on this site? I realize they were an opener for Tool many tours ago but I see bands with similar musical styles get looked down upon here to some extent.
And don’t get me wrong- they’re pretty good for that style and talented, I like them (although far from the list of personal faves), just wondering out loud I guess.
To put it bluntly, I’m biased and am a big fan of Meshuggah.
Also I thought this tour would be of plenty of interest to Tool fans.
Lots of interest by me, but alas Pittsburgh is often overlooked as hell when it comes to tours of this nature.
They hit NYC, Philly, and then either Cleveland and Columbus or both but all of those are a pretty significant drive for me.
Ah well… I would love to see Meshuggah live and I would sit in awe of Animals As Leaders for the whole set… those guys have some talent. Haven’t really seen much of them with the new drummer though.
That’s kind of what I was getting at- do others here simply like them because of the Tool tie in? I don’t see quite the mention of other bands in the same genre here.
And will send pics if I hit that Chicago date. :p
I was first exposed to them via Tool. I also enjoy a few other bands in the genre, but usually don’t post about them unless they have a link with Tool.
I may consider seeing them. Hopefully they announce another date closer to where I live. Not sure if I want to drive 5 and a half hours to go see them. Though it is near my birthday so maybe I’ll make an exception.
I will be there. Meshuggah and AAL. Wow. It get’s no better than that. Good venue as well. Fucking hell yes.
It’s not on a weekday is it?
Correct. Nice to finally catch a show on the weekend with two of my favorite bands. Intronaut meh but it is going to be a helluva show.
My wife and I are going to the Roseland, NYC show. Bought the tickets within 15 minutes of seeing the announcement. 29.99 per ticket was a steal for that line up..my gosh. Crazy excited!
@ Mog – I dug Intronaut live (opened for Tool in January), give them a chance. Really hoping they add SF, which seems like a no-brainer since they list Sacramento and LA. The only bummer there is that the dates don’t seem to allow for it. If they don’t add SF, I would consider going to Sac, but that’s a fuck of a drive. At least it’s a Friday.
Ticket Ordered. Meshuggah and AAL right on.
@Naattik – I will definetly give Intronaut another listen. Opened for Tool and now for Meshuggah and AAL, gotta be talent there.
This is going to be an amazing tour.
If you even remotely like metal, you have to go to one of these shows.
Intronaut is so good, give prehistoricisms a listen, and if you want a more proggresive record, give valley of smoke a listen.
