A few clues have been dropped over Instagram in the last week are pointing to some new Puscifer material being prepared for release. One shows Mat Mitchell tracking something (image below) while another is a video which has a track with both Maynard and Carina singing. It doesn’t sound like an existing Puscifer track or remix to me, so I’m thinking that we may be getting a new EP sometime later this year.
Update: Looks like it’s a false alarm – nxrm has informed us the track is actually Sunflower by Low.
I don’t like this “multimedia project”.
It seems obvious to me that it is his current and perhaps final/ideal way of writing music. He’s surrounded himself with people who apparently hang out in Arizona on the farm with him a lot and they have their own recording studio. He can release EP’s as he wishes and casually tour smaller venues from here on out. He’s proudly stated at all shows I’ve seen them that they are fully funded by themselves (mostly him I’m guessing). Tool will have the final album but perhaps Maynard is more or less along for the ride with the other 3 and… Read more »
Duhhhhhhhhh. You suck.
2 EPs in one year? That’s madness!
I liked what I heard in the video. Neat.
That song is Low’s “Sunflower:” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7Qd0mbji0U
Thanks!
Awesome! Never heard of them.
I said it was madness.
Incidentally, Low’s former bass player is Zak Sally, who happens to be a friend of Adam’s. Zak published Nate Denver’s book “Wait, Your Not a Centaur” which Adam wrote the introduction for:

Clearly, Puscifer is self sustaining. It’s unfortunate that the group of people he’s surrounded with are members of Puscifer (I don’t have a taste for them). Maynard is a hard worker and gets shit done and I guess if he had TOOL members or APC members surrounding him and was writing music with them all the time we might appreciate it less? I do admire his ambitions though, “New Music on all Fronts” is what he posted on Instagram right? I’ve heard of musicians juggling 2 bands as a norm but 3…. wow…
Maynard gets his job done in Tool when he’s called to. It is clear that the process of making tool music is much tougher than it used to be….
In 2014, we will find out just how well they adhere to the chemistry
I agree, Maynard is definitely the man to get the job done. At this point, once they make this album, I don’t know if I’ll want another from them. We’ll see how good it is though because that will certainly solidify my opinion.
I keep wondering though, what direction will Maynard take the content of his lyrics for this album? Part of my distaste for Puscifer is that I’m not particularly impressed with his contribution lyrically.
I hold onto the hope that he’s still got some ‘b’ind ‘m’ending shit up his sleeve. No doubt the other members do musically.
LOW! Things We Lost In the Fire is a great album. Gotta rep my local Minnesota bands. Puscifer never keeps its hooks in me for very long but I’ll always give some new tunes from them a listen.
