It’s the time of year where not only to we swear allegiance to baby Jesus and commercialism, but we also tend to compile best of lists. Last year we had a successful Album of the Year Poll, and this year we shall do the same! Below is an embedded Google Form which will allow you to enter in your favorite albums, from which I shall compile a top 10 based on the number of votes received.
The rules for voting are as follows:
- Only vote for an albums once! I’ll be checking the data for duplicates, so let’s not waste both of our time.
- Albums must be released in 2013. This seems kind of obvious really…
- Please try and use the format
– . For example Laterlaus – Tool. This will make my life easier when I count the votes. - Order is not important. Each nomination received only one vote.
- If you can’t think of 10 albums, then feel free to vote for less.
- Make sure you use the form. Entries made via the comments below won’t be counted!
- No troll votes please. Lists full of Taylor Swifts and Justin Biebers will most likely be ignored.
Here’s the form. If the embedding doesn’t work for you, then visit the poll in a separate window here.
Entries will close on Friday the 13th! Good luck!
What if I genuinely think the new Taylor Swift album was the best of 2013?
*jedi hand wave* this isn’t the poll you are looking for.
i just commented on my cousins r2- d2 photo ”these arent the droids your looking for”

Googled “Albums Released in 2013” and hit the wiki list… I couldn’t even remember what came out this year save for a few albums… What a crap year for music, so how many hash marks for crap years is that now? At least we got Koi No Yokan last year. I’ll come up with 10 but I’m going to review the list of 15 I was able to come up with and weed 5 of them out. Skinny Puppy stays…
The 2013 best album list should begin and end with AM by Arctic Monkeys.

Apparently you’re the only one that thinks so, as it only has one vote so far (out of 77 entries at time of writing)
I was not even a fan of the Arctic Monkeys before I heard the new album (besides loving “I bet you look good on the dance floor”) so it’s not the proverbial fan boy vote.
If you haven’t given AM a spin yet I can’t recommend it enough. Several solid tracks.
I have listened to it actually as a couple of my workmates are big fans. If you like pop music it’s ok I guess.
Ouch! Pop music? Maybe pop means something a bit different over here in the States as I’d classify it as alternative.
BTW, I appreciate you keeping the tool discussions/community going the last fee years HB. I don’t post that much but I visit almost daily. A sincere thank you.

nice about Skinny Puppy! go see them this winter if you can! they are on tour starting late Jan. i dont know new music much of anything anymore. i like SP live though, i really dont listen to them all that much but they are def unique and are great live !!!!
The new Skinny Puppy is definitely my favourite album of the year. I’ll be checking them out in February… can’t wait.
I definitely want to go see Skinny Puppy in March San Fran but I’m coming back from a Hawaii trip 3 days beforehand and the concert is in the middle of the week. I live about 2 hours from SF so if I go it’s going to have to be an out and back because I’m using up all my vacation time for Hawaii so I must work… Bummer….
Tegan and Sara!
ya, i’ll be seeing SP too! cant wait!
What if I want to submit passwords through Google Forms?
Tesseract for the win
I agree. Horrible year for new albums with the lone exception of the Aussie band Karnivool. Asymmetry by far the best album of the year that no one has barely even heard of. If you guys haven’t checked these guys out you really should. Especially their previous effort Sound Awake.
I thought it was a pretty good year for music. There were plenty of disappointing albums from band that I expected better of though.
The Karnivool album was ok, but won’t be making my top 10.
I’ve lurked here for months and finally made an account just to say that 2013 has been one of the best years for music since i’ve been alive (a bit more than two decades) …. I had a hard time narrowing it down to 10.
I feel like there was a lot of good music, but not a lot of great music.
A lot of 7/10 albums, a few 8/10s, but not many albums really ranked higher than that.
My top 10 was hard to put together because there just didn’t seem to be that many albums that I felt really belonged on the list.
i agree with this. a whole bunch of good stuff came out this year. i guess maybe i have a different taste in music than most people on here (i actually like tool, go figure). as far as heavy music that came out this year, i thought there were a bunch of good albums and several made my top ten: sunbather- deafheaven, hesitation marks- nin, memorial- russian circles, soma-windhand, meir- kvelterak and slightly less heavy like clockwork- qotsa.
