Tool US dates to be added?

This morning a Oregon radio station revealed that there would be a Tool date at the Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene on the 9th of March. Another source has suggested that this is legit and that further dates (at least in California and Washington) should be announced soon. Dates will all be before the Mexican shows. No word on how extensive this tour will be, but my guess is it’ll be a short West Coast one rather than a full blown tour.

In other, presumably related news, Blair has posted on Toolband an account of some happenings on January 17 in the past and suggested that on this date he will also have some news to share. Seeing as he mentioned California I’m assuming it’s related to the tour dates:

I was abruptly reminded of the 20th anniversary of the Northridge earthquake (January 17, 1994) at 5:26 this morning when a minor quake centered about two miles west of Studio City once again rattled my bookcases. At the time of the Northridge ‘shaker’, I was VERY close to the epicenter and (hopefully) will never forget the destruction that it caused. I had planned on registering with the Writer’s Guild a screenplay that I wrote about the mystery of Berenger Sauniere and Rennes-le-Chateau that very day (because of the January 17th date), but as the fates would have it, that didn’t happen. With this morning’s little wake up call, I need to keep reminding myself that it’s currently sunny and 86 degrees here in the Valley. (Oh, in case you’re wondering, the world famous Baked Potato wasn’t damaged.) And being that it is January 17, there’s something other than southern California earthquakes that I wanted to share with you…

Maybe 10 dates along the West Coast. I’m near Seattle so if this is true I’m hoping to hit a couple shows.

What he wanted to share is that Tool’s lavishly extended christmas break has now ended, and for the millionth time the dry-erase boards have been brought out for band members to stare intently at. However, they only had time to add one unintelligible squiggle (which Adam later deleted after a heated month-long debate), before packing everything away to start rehearsing for another US-only mini tour.

that was the dumbest thing I’ve ever read in my life. You are one of the Tool fans that has lost hope and faith in Tool. Like their next album isn’t going to be worth the wait. Have they ever disappointed you, besides the meaningless re-issue of Opiate? I will bow down and apologize if their next album is lackluster. I will stand corrected. But when it comes out, and it blows everything you’ve ever expected out of the water, then you will feel like a fucktard, because you already sound like one. Their new album is probably nearly finished… Read more »

I never said anything about their next album being lackluster? I was tongue in cheek making fun of the fact that what Blair wanted to share isn’t going to be any major news- its going to be the same thing that he has said every single January for the last 5 years. I’ve commented numerous times in the forums that I do believe that their album is nearly finished, and yes I was tongue in cheek making fun of their slow writing pace (however effective it might be). On a side note, Tool have disappointed me every single year for… Read more »

Unless they are actually recording the album now in secret with Bottrill, or Barresi, live shows should not be happening.

Yeah I saw that somewhere too, maybe on one of the tool FB pages?

Any who, good stuff on the mini-tour…this time we should see/hear something more than just a schism intro.

t00l could be added late to coachella but this doesn’t seem likely. the mini US tour is interesting…. I figured coachella was a definite given the upcoming Mexico dates but that ended up not panning out. is the rumored mini tour the “curveball” ?

Ugh… COACHELLA LINEUP HAS ALREADY BEEN ANNOUNCED. Just go to the web site, it’s set. And if a band is to be added it surely won’t be a headliner (outside of something catastrophic happening to a current headliner of course).

yeah. we know… some of us has been attending since inception. back when the festival didn’t make money and they needed rage and t00l to generate attendance. oh the good ol’days…. also line ups change all the time. RHCP was booked at the 11th hour.

If matthew knight arena hasnt posted this show on their calendar, then does that mean that this radio station obtained some leaked info?
Whats the radio stations name?
Who is this mysteriously casual source confirming more dates?

Another cliffhanger.

I am guessing it was KNRQ here in Eugene. If not them, there is only one other station that would have released it, and that is KFLY from Eugene.

Keeping my fingers crossed and trying to stay patient here in Washington State.

Interesting.

I guess if that show doesn’t happen, it seems possible that they could play here in Austin. 2 days for travel is plenty.

Could it be?

I also have it on good authority (a source which is similar to HB’s in that I can’t name them or the info will stop) that they will be making it down Texas way as well for this March mini-tour.

Well looks like your special authority top secret Texas source was wrong, wasn’t he?

Not necessarily toolband.com has released dates in waves before as they get 100% confirmation. Those shows go on sale soon so they had to let the fans know. Or we could wrong and this is all we get but I hope not

The venues in Oregon are much bigger than those they usually do when they have done the mini tour in the past. The Moda center is where the Portland Trailblazers play, so it is pretty big. The Matthew Knight Arena is also about the same size.

HAHAHAHA! I’m smack in between Reno and San Fran. I can go to either or both shows. Awesome. Right after my Hawaii trip and Skinny Puppy in Frisco too… what a great year.

Actually… I think I’m going to skip this set of touring for TOOL… I’ve seen the show three times already and already know what it’s about. When the new music comes out I’ll go to that tour. I haven’t seen Skinny Puppy once so that’s taking priority. Don’t know why I felt the need to share this with you folks but there it’s done.
