Blair adds further clarity to studio issue

Blair took some time out from thanking Obama today to give us some insight into the recent Tool/Motörhead scandal, and advises us that it’s likely to be one of the following scenarios:

A) The members of Tool that the guys in Motorhead saw and interacted with in the studio were actually the DECOY members of the band , who have started tracking tunes for the new DECOY Tool album.

B) Rather than tracking tunes for the next Tool record, the (real) members of the band have begun tracking (real) tunes for the Tool album that is to be released AFTER the next Tool album is released.

C) Rather than tracking anything, the members of the band were in the studio mixing music that was recorded sometime ago, which might not have anything to do with the next Tool album (which is still in the writing/arranging process), but might be used for another Tool project that has been in the works for a while, of which I am currently not at liberty to add any further details.

D) All of the above.

Seeing as I expect the first two are unlikely, I imagine C is the most likely option. Maybe one day we’ll even get some details on what this actually is!

Could it be the that they are finally moving ahead with “The Pot” video?

The riff Adam plays in the Facebook video kind of sounds like the outro.

In light of this new info, Blair’s Feb 12th post might be hinting at that. He stated that he couldn’t provide detailed information “due to soporific side-effects” [a possible side-effect of weed]…”or maybe [his] “Almuchefi” wasn’t adequately blank” [due to smoke in the room?].

Why would they need to be in a recording studio to work on a video clip for a song that was released in 2006…

i figure C is the most likely option as well. and maynard thinking were gullible..hes an asshole so who cares what he thinks. FYI i didnt think the motorhead thing was a sure sign they were recording but im speaking on behalf of the more hopeful/take it at face value perhaps. 🙂

I’ll take A for $400 Alex. Dude, everyone knows they’re aliens; that’s not news to anyone. And Blair, he’s either a Man in Black or a Reptilian. Common knowledge.

Perhaps, it means a double album ? Maybe they recorded first part a while ago and now they recording the second album. I mean : “Decoy album”, “TOOL album that is to be released AFTER the next Tool album is released”. He is referring to next tool album. That could mean the current album(first part) is technically finished(writing and recorded) and that the “next tool” album is the second album of the double album?

Long time since posted last but believe, I’ve been watching. I believe the answer is C. Blair mentioned “soporific side-effects” which are common when taking sedatives and often-times induce sleep. He also mentions “Almuchefi” which is what Roger Bacon called his “enchanted mirror”. Bacon, a “gifted seer”, was making prophecies 300 years before Nostradamus with pretty good accuracy. So in trying to tie these together, I believe Blair is saying that if he could remember the detailed information, it would reveal what lies in the future, therefore giving away the secret.

“realizing that millions of you need to get back to shoveling the snow off of your houses ”

^^^ not that this has anything to do with the recent studio video clusterfuck, but on the nightly news tonight they showed a guy with a snowblower on the TOP of his his house. Pretty wild.

Carry on with non-Tool news/commence the bitching.

I dunno about anyone else, but I can’t help but wonder what has gone on in these guy’s lives over the last few years to provoke the strange behaviour of late. I’m not talking about lawsuits, and issues with songwriting and procrastination.
More just about the way they have been dealing with how they address the media/fans.
It’s ceased to be intriguiging.
The Motorhead video, and then Maynard’s comment about it, then this post by Blair… seems so pointless.

Hahaha Blair tells everyone what is going on but because he puts A. B. C. D. Everyone starts speculating and picking an answer..

you know what this reminds me of at this point ? its like sifting thru the garbage to find sometihing you accidentally threw out. like a retainer when your a kid or something along those lines. im just done with it. not enough to not say anything but im not attached to any of this like i might of been years and years ago. they win if you feed into their b.s messages. dont let them!

What if none of these choices are correct, since he did say “most likely correct”?
Could we get our ‘curveball’ soon?
ill get back to shoveling now.

Indeed, Blair is being coy (probably one is most likely correct); I suspect it is none of the above.

Focus on science.

Pretty sure I know the name of the album: it’s called “Speculation”

Think you need not look into things so much. Waste of time and energy to keep pretending like we might think we maybe know about a hint that’s possibly materializing, because of a vague clue written in all caps by Blair on a windy day in February, because the wind speed sort of possibly aligns with the real Riemann Hypothesis. It’s all bullshit. We’ll see an album when we see one. Or not.

Fortunately I don’t have any fucking snow, so I am going to pass on shoveling.

i dont know if bato was directing his comment towards anyone specificallyy, but i’ll respond.

I love this band and i love speculating whats next.
f*ck me, right? i still love the vagueness this band permiates, i enjoy Blairs writing… its fun. When its no longer fun, ill stop.

this is absolutely not a waste of time and energy, because i like it. Thanks 🙂

And now im gonna donate to fourtheye to spite Bato and keep this site up! Yea!!!

I would wager it’s option C. They tend to have a release before the album release. Maybe they’re actually doing something with Problem 8 and perhaps some other old track(s). I think that ANYTHING would be great now. I’d love to hear unreleased old stuff.

No my comments aren’t directed at anyone. Not here to start a pissin’ match; not into that nonsense. Just becoming impatient with the runarounds from the Tool camp. I get the mysteriousness of the band and all and by far they are my favorite band. My “Tool Shrine”: http://i1383.photobucket.com/albums/ah305/Bato367/IMG_1120_zpsmeh7sxwj.jpg Anyways, what I was getting at is if you go back and look at any Tool message board from say 2009 to current, every month of every year people seemed to have it figured out and are so certain the album is coming out in such and such year. Well, it’s… Read more »

The Pot video is done but they re-recorded it in the key of C like they played on live a few tours ago. Hence the mathew santoro bottle swording instagram post. salival 2 it is, maybe that old unreleased song will make it on there too.

just sort of disregard the fact the singer is massively misogynistic and homophobic and listen to Gin by Cobalt. its pretty Tool-y and it only came out FIVE years ago.

Here’s a thought: Blair mentions the decoy album in part A and then mentions the band members making the next disc after the possible new disc in part B, then mentions working on something they’ve already done in part C and finally says “all of the above” in part D. Could this all be a reference to a DOUBLE ALBUM and the the use of the A/B/C/D choices is a reference to ‘Side A/Side B’ on one record or disc of the double album and ‘Side C/Side D’ are the two sides of the second disc of the double album.… Read more »

Maybe 10,000 Days Vinyl? Or Opiate video. Those have actually been mentioned and have a better chance of happening than wild guesses at salival II, and or a double disc. Yes, I want a double disk too, but id bet an arm against it. Unless you want to wait two decades.

Who seriously give a shit about The Pot video… A video on a song that came 9 years ago? This is freaking intellectual masturbation.

From my perspective(fan) , releasing The Pot video now IS intellectual masturbation. A new album is not.

Intellectual masturbation etymology: the mental counterpart to masturbation; i.e. a process that is very pleasurable but hasn’t accomplished anything at the end.

The Pot video is pointless considering it has been 9 years since the last album. To be honest, releasing anything except an new album is pointless really. It doesn’t really bring anything new…

it sounds like youre implying the band is lazy and just rehashing scraps….. and that sort of thinking doesn’t fly on this site. everything this band
does is magickal and they don’t owe you anything…. spiral out.

Like someone said above, a 10,000 Days vinyl could be likely. Vinyl records are often mixed and mastered differently than CD. Also the A/B/C/D thing someone above referenced would tie in to a 10,000 Days vinyl seeing how it would take two records to fit the whole album with an A, B, C and D side. Personally, like every other tease we’ve gotten from Blair in the last 5 years (The Big Thing, The Curveball, The New Website, The Tool Army Beach Towels, ect…), its all bullshit.

Just gotta shake my head at the fact that Danny did mention last year on the radio interview with blair (god help us all) that they were working on a video clip for Opiate. Words escape me for how FUCKING RETARDED that is.

Just gotta shake my head at how fucking retarded it is to get petulant about the free choice of artists and what they output. If you wanna cast judgment before you hear or see it then I’m guessing you’re not the type who’ll appreciate it anyway. And if you’re not willing to play the waiting game then you’re probably not going to appreciate anything they put out whenever it may be either!

I can appreciate an artists work….whatever the medium shall be. time will yield great things. new works from TOOL sounds fucking awesome , whatever it may be.

im certainly not going to put out any negative attitude about the wait. there is so much more other great things to hear from other bands……..tonight for me its ‘HARSH TOKE~plug into the moon’…….its definetly fucking jamming……

my question is why are all you people so bent out of shape? its only art.

Peploune

For all the the persons unable to do the simple abstraction between sounds and pictures(other than they are both art mediums) and agree on the pertinence of a The Pot video, please answer the following questions: 1)Would you spent hours watching a The Pot video ? 2)Would you spent hours listening to a new album ? If you answered: YES to both questions, you might understand the concept of abstraction. You are a dedicated tool fan and endorse their art work in a fanatic way. You basically have no life and no personality. NO to 1 and YES to 2,… Read more »

Are you saying that only true Tool fans would spend hours watching The Pot video? I suppose you said that the person wouldn’t understand the concept of abstraction. Can you explain what you mean?

Personally, I like music videos but I doubt I’d spend hours watching The Pot over and over. I love Tool. I love abstract art in all forms (movies, music, painting, etc.) I do like the song The Pot but for me it’s one of the weakest songs on the album… and it came out 9 years ago.
