LOL

That hilariously kinda made me not like this band anymore.

Wow. LOLOL

“How do they sleep at night??”

More expensive than the Opiate re-release……. because reasons.

To me the pillows were way way dumber.

I don’t understand hating on the price of something, don’t like it, don’t buy it. I certainly won’t, just like the Opiate re-issue, just like the pillows.

I always had a feeling that the “curve ball” BMB spoke of would be an offcially licensed, recycled t-shirt blanket.

It makes it worse for me that it’s not even made or of blanket material. Who would want a blanket made out of t-shirts??

The price is the way it is because that is the price of thw amount of shirts it took to make the blanket. Duh.

Some merch guy was looking at a bunch of boxes of old tour shirts that have no prospect of ever selling, and remembered the online diplay ad that made tshirts into quilts for $99. He wanted 56% margin.

I’m sure the band doesn’t even know about the blanket.

On a speculative note, maybe he was trying to make room in the warehouse for NEW tour tshirt inventory.

I’m trying to cast my mind back to the time before 10,000 days was released, some of you (at least those who haven’t dropped too much acid hehe) may be able to shed some light on this: What did we know before it was made official by Blair on toolband that the new album was to be released and what the track listing was? I forget if we knew that they were in the studio, tracking, or what? I mean, there’s so much speculation about where this new album is up to right now and I just wondered whether pre… Read more »

^^ Tool entered the recording studio in August 2005 for about 3 weeks to officially record 10,000 days. Around this time, the Lateralus vinyl was also mentioned & Toolarmy members were first able to purchase one of only about 300 signed Lateralus vinyls in late October 2005 (i bought one – it’s awesome) for $100. The Lateralus vinyl was on sale throughout late 2005 leading up to Christmas but we were also told that the Schism & Parabola DVDs would be out in December 2005 just in time for Christmas. In early February 2006, Blair mentioned that the band members… Read more »

“Hopefully that answers your question”

I think you pretty much covered and then some my friend.

I bought advanced 2015 VooDoo Fest tix last year in hopes that Tool would get the album completed and headline so my fingers are definitely crossed that the album gets done this year.

Sold out huh? Is there any confirmation that anybody bought one? I’m going to have to go with, no… This wasn’t up for sale… it’s a time reference……… I initially thought CD’s could hold 78 minutes of music which would be 156 minutes for a double album… but it’s only 74 minutes… 15/6 June 2015… seems legit. I can’t imagine anybody would buy this shitty blanket for $156…

Like the way you’re thinking here, a decoy blanket of sorts. If it were up for sale, would guess it was the wife of Merch or something looking to make a few bucks, but only one was made.

Saliva was released in December of 2000, with a sticker that said “new studio album out April 17th- Maynard’s bday. Lateralus ended up getting pushed back too May. Tool is a methodical band. My guess is Salival II or whatever will be called will be a pre-cursor to the new album. I’m sure they have plenty of extra material recorded during Lateralus/10,000 days sessions that could be put out, especially after the whole Motörhead studio thing. The new album probably won’t be out for another year, but if we get a Salival II release it could definitely be a more… Read more »

Furthermore,

The blanket was posted 02/20/2015 @ 5:18PM Price $156
02/20/2015 @ 3:52PM Limited Number of Salival DVD Box Sets Were Posted For Sale (didn’t see price)…

These times and postings may not have any relevance but we can’t overlook the obvious.

Also, there’s speculative theory around another Salival type release… 1. Salival Boxset Posted for sale 2. Then some shitty blanket with a strange price tag…

Do they have correlation? That’s a good question…

Over thinking, over analyzing….

It’s just a “shrewd” method to get rid of some T-shirt inventory that wasn’t selling otherwise. Nothing more, nothing less IMO.

Thanks Matt, I remember all of that listening party stuff on triple J and them saying how under wraps that all was, my guess is though that they will release whatever new material is being created in a much different way. On that note, I’d like to ask what you all think this new material is going to sound like- I know it’s what we are all wondering but there is more talk here about when, how, and if but not much about what we are going to hear.. My personal opinion is that it will be the heaviest album… Read more »

I remember looking back at the news archives before May 2006 & Blair actually did a good job updating the site on the band recording. If I recall there were even pictures of them in the studio. I think we’ll know when they start legitimately tracking the album, I don’t think Blair thinks it’s a big enough secret to mask by putting it in the price of the blanket. The guys just don’t know when they’ll start yet. It blows my mind that Danny Carey, probably the most down to earth, straight-foward member thought they’d be in the studio by… Read more »

Totally agree with the comment above about new artwork or a different theme etc. Looking back, despite the stereoscopic lenses & pictures being really cool, I was actually kinda disappointed some of Alex Grey artwork was used again. Please don’t interpret this as a criticism of the band though, just my personal preference for brand new ideas. The ‘web of being’ and repeated use of all those eyes kinda seemed like a repeat for me. I actually really enjoyed how much different Lateralus was in artwork from Aenima so I would like to see a similar change in style with… Read more »

^^ Just realised I added short songs from 10,000 days rather than Schism from Lateralus so please don’t kill me. But yeah 5 or 6 minute songs early on, a couple of 7 or 8 mintues halfway through and then finish with some longer 9 to 13 minute tracks. That would be awesome.

Barresi didn’t actually produce 10,000 Days though. He just mixed and engineered it. A minor distinction but an important one nonetheless.

if it helps put money towards the band as a whole , then I fully support TOOL . Adam did say in the VIP that it takes a lot of money to make a ‘MOVIE’….so maybe its a way of raising money towards future tool projects…..or the new album…..

Which is why they should drop millions of their own money to make you a movie. As if creating a profit off a project should take back seat to pumping gluttons full of grubs and maggots. Sick of all the bitching and moaning. It’s a fact: this site (while well intentioned) is a Tool hate site and brings down the overall enjoyableness of anything Tool creates or puts out. Might as well be called http://www.fucktool(band).net or http://www.4thecrybabies.net. Yet someone will jump to these whiny bitches defense. And what’s not to hate on? We’ve been through the ringer with that fucking Blair for long enough!!! Seriously, how many times have we heard from him something about a “curveball”, or there’s something in the pipeline that “Tool enthusiasts should enjoy”, or back in 2013 when he said we “might see an album in 2014”, or all this Problem 8 nonsense? The band doesn’t owe us shit, they do what they do, but for them to leave all their so-called “news” in the hands of BMB is getting tiresome. The guy seems to get his jollies from fucking with… Read more »

^^Just wondering where the “estimated net worth of around 40 million dollars” comes from… is this just a guess or has this been reported somewhere?

If it’s true, can you let me know where the numbers are etc. Cheers!

Otherwise, with regard to this site, nothing is bigger than ‘internet muscles’. People just love to bitch & moan so I just don’t let it bother me or get involved arguing/trolling. Still love this band, even if it has been a long time between drinks… all good

I think the $40 million estimate comes from this 2012 article an assuming that they’re all worth what Mr. Carey is worth; not likely!! He has lots of endorsements. But the point is well taken that they all have plenty of money if they wanted to make a movie. However, they could make a MUCH better one with some independent financial backing. But making a CD is proving difficult enough for now.

Each member of Tool banks around 50 Thousand dollars a concert.
And I’m being conservative with that value.
Trust that they would have over 20 million each in the bank.

I’m pretty sure those celebrity net worth estimates are a total of what they believe they have earned over the course of their career. For example if you have had a job that pays $100k a year for ten years, that site estimates you have 1 million dollars. It says Trent Reznor’s NW is $70 million- I doubt he has that laying around in some vault.
