Maynard “still hopeful” of a Tool album

It looks like Maynard hasn’t given up hope of a new Tool album, at least according to a recent interview with WMMR (a radio station in Philadelphia I believe).  You can listen to the whole interview below, Maynard comes online at about the 1:46 mark.  It’s an ok interview, nothing you haven’t really heard before though (though I did discover Al Bundy has a black belt):

When asked about Tool news he responded:

“No, not really. They’re still doing what they do, and I’m still hopeful.”

So there you have it. No real news. Maybe one day we’ll get some actual news…

Ed O’Neill is actually a pretty interesting dude.

He seems very uninterested in anything Tool. Has done for a while. Even if we do get a new album. His lack of enthusiasm over the last few years, concerns me that it will be any good.

MJK November 2013 Maynard James Keenan on Next Tool Album: ‘A Very Tedious Process’ ‘You don’t want to become a greatest hits version of yourself,’ says frontman of touring But his biggest project, Tool, hasn’t released an album since 2006’s 10,000 Days. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Keenan opened up about what’s taken so long. “I don’t write the music. They write the music,” he says of his bandmates. “I wait for them to bring music to me. They tend to go back over and over stuff. It’s a long process. For a person like me, it can… Read more »

Oct . 2015 So there was a conversation you had a couple weeks back with one of our writers, and he asked about the progress of the new Tool album, and you mentioned that there was no music to work with. And last year, another Rolling Stone writer talked to Danny and Adam, and they said that there was some new material. Can you help us get to the bottom of where you’re at with the new record?
Do I seem like a lazy person to you?

Of course not.
OK — that’s all I can really say.

Considering the level of exaggeration Mano is prone to, I’m assuming he has interpreted them in an overly negative way, thus sees them as proof of Maynard’s lack of enthusiasm to make another Tool album.

No. I interpret them to indicate that Adam can’t make this album happen.

I swear to sweet little baby, diaper-rashed, ginger soul-less Jesus that if this new album contains 5 tracks and 4 filler tracks with electric pulse shit, German occult ranting, or psychoactive stifled pussy fart noises… I’m going to fucking mentally breakdown and write a really mean letter.

… a really really mean letter.

Personally, I am absolutely sick and tired of these guys “Waiting” to put out new material!! This 10 year every album BS sucks! If you’re not going to tour again then just come out and say it! On the flip side of the coin, you take bands like Rush that tour all the time with new material and can’t anymore because of Peart’s arthritis. Stop being a bunch of whining lil douchers and get in the studio or have the common courtesy to tell your fans that you’re finished!
