Tool February 2017 Newsletter

The Tool February 2017 Newsletter is out, and the first sentence tells you what you need to know:

Being that there is no Tool news that I know of this month, I was going to blow off the FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER until I received the following email.

The important part being that there is no Tool news.  The rest of the newsletter features a question from a fan regarding the Tool chat page, which hasn’t been working for quite some time.

Quite a bit of talk about V.R. and such from Blair… Maybe Adam is ditching the stereoscopic packaging this time around and going full-blown mindfuck experience???

That was my thought as well. If you are into reading between the lines in Blair’s writings, I’d say there is some kind of VR in a future Tool release. Maybe the new album? Maybe the Opiate video? Maybe the “curveball”.

Oh fuck me now its VR? I’m curious, how many times has everyone used the stereoscopic glasses with 10k? I used them maybe once or twice for 2 minutes each before I felt like I was going cross eyed. Quite uncomfortable and little gimmicky don’t you think? And the cd case doesn’t fit anywhere because of it. I kind of hope they don’t do anything like that again. VR isn’t there yet man. Maybe in 10 more years when the album actually comes out. But just like 3d, stereoscopic lenses, vr…it’s very gimmicky and screams, isn’t this thing youll use… Read more »

I call bullshit that you or anybody uses them REGULARLY, over 10 years later. No fucking way. Its a novelty, but im learning you wouldnt ever admit it. It’s cool though. Sorry to intrude on the fan boy party over here and to give the perspective of a longtime fan who doesn’t think tool shits gold. Tool IS for me but I guess I’m learning maybe this site isn’t. Good luck hellboy trying to keep a news website for a band that doesn’t make any new news other than, “another small west coast tour with the same 10 songs split… Read more »

I loved the stereoscopic glasses and had no issues… You do realise Tool are a progressive band right? And not just with their music, the album covers/art work in general is also progressive – that’s what they do. Sounds like you don’t even ‘get’ Tool. “A normal cover with something interesting on it is more than sufficient.” For a “normal” band maybe, which Tool are not. All I ever hear from you on these forums is whinge whinge whine whine. If everything they do upsets you that much why not disappear off this site, stop listening/watching/enjoying their art and go… Read more »

Well said you two. I personally liked the juxtaposition of Hellboy taking the more PC/high road and L-Hol pretty much going fulcrum deep.

I hate to break it to you, but tool IS JUST A NORMAL BAND. Progressive? Some of the time. I don’t let art stress me out bro. I have an opinion that differs from yours and that’s all. I’m allowed that, no? You sound like a typical tool fan…”they are god to me “. No, they are a fucking rock band and that’s all.

Wait? The ones not constantly complaining or being dissatisfied are now the “typical Tool fans?”

Interesting. All this time MJK and others had it completely backwards. But then again, what do we know? Right, bro?

I scanned and converted a couple Tool images so I could view them on my 3DTV and my Nintendo 3DS … WAY better than the glasses and WAY more enjoyable.

I was going to scan all of the images but never got around to it.

I agree the wall-eyed method for viewing 3D is far from optimal.

The chat…
Years ago, some Sundaymorning I visited the Tool website and went into the chat
for the first time, just to see whats going on there.
Maynard was there (yes) and he answered some questions very kind and polite, but mostly I remember all the other douchebags in there, writing stuff like “Maynard, suck my….” all the time.

If I remember correctly, this even was on his birthday…

The post was about someone who used to be engaged then wasnt but now is. Something we think we want will be released April 21st but it might be something different. Now heads up about tour dates next week. Its got to be happening…

I like where your head’s at – hope you’re right!

Is it some type of Freudian slip that every time I see your handle I envision Maynard rocking the flute?

Ha! I want MJK to acknowledge the debt. He sounds just like Ian Anderson on the bit that rocks on 10000 days – “Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance…”
