Looks like Tool have made the switch this morning from their old Toolband site to the new Full Screen Direct service. There seem to be a number of problems (a few usability issues, some 404’s invalid SSL certificates) but otherwise seems to work for the most part. I haven’t had much of a chance to delve into the social aspect of the site, or the Toolarmy “bits” so will render final judgement for later.
A couple of interesting points:
- The old Toolarmy now seems to be completely gone. I would have preferred to see it archived personally. RIP Toolarmy!
- 10,000 Days still isn’t mentioned in the releases section. Decoy album confirmed?
Interested to hear your collective thoughts on the update?
Speechless…..just..wow. It’s finally over. End of an era.
Has anyone found the newsletters?
By the beard of Zeus… The motherfucking newsletters are gone.
Curveball exposed!!
I really like the look of the site and it has a mobile version too! BUT the site isn’t secured. I’d be pretty hard pressed to save any personal information there because of this until they at least enable https. They may switch to a secure site when you go through with purchasing something but I have yet to do that on this new redesign so someone will have to confirm that.
Ahhhhh great to see some new stuff gearing up,.. but I was just thinking , what ever happened to the golden ticket winners with the opiate reissue? What did they win ? What happened with that whole deal?
They won a customised version of the Opiate reissue – kinda like a gold record type framed thing. I think I’ve posted about it on Fourtheye in the past.
As HB mentioned, 10.000 Days is still not listed in the releases section.
This can only mean one thing 😉 :
The real reason why the new album isn’t out yet is due to 10.000 days being a decoy album. The infamous 10.000 days PUZZLE provides the link to the REAL album which still has not been found. Tool won’t release any new material until the real 10.000 days album is found by someone.
Makes sense?
New album in June confirmed!
^^
Confirmed by who?
Confirmed by shitty logic, mostly
(my post was a joke by the way)
Funny that you need to point out that you were joking 🙂
Yeah, I thought it was obvious. I wouldn’t announce huge news like an album launch by burying it in the comments!
Sorry, that went totally over my head. 🙂 I will refrain from being a useful idiot next time. heheh
BTW, when I read your responses HB, I add an Aussie accent, which is totally cool.
No worries mate! Throw another shrimp on the barbie!
Wasn’t 10K listed on the old site? I remember this being the case.
10,000 Days was not listed on the old site: neither in the Albums nor the Lyrics section.
Huh, that’s curious. I could’ve sworn I’d seen it.
Oh well.
‘10,000 Days’ is now listed in the Releases section. No lyrics, but the artwork and track list are up.
Looks fine. Not exactly revolutionary – this should have been done 10 years ago! My main issue is that the animated graphic at the top of the page is too clunky and stop-start. It should run seamlessly. Also the glaring security issue.
Seems to still be in the process of being built. Maybe 10000 days not being on there is just to create a talking point? Or maybe they really were not that happy with it – hence only 1 video and no vinyl. Wonder who did the artwork for the skeleton – looks more like new Opiate bloke than Alex Grey…
10KD isn’t on there cuz they lazily didn’t add it. Shocking.
I just bought tickets to the San Bernadino show. That should be pretty awesome!
The new website is beautiful and I had no issues with lag on the animation as someone had mentioned here.
It is curious indeed that 10,000 Days is not listed in releases… Interesting…
Does anybody know, does this round of VIP experience include a ticket to the show? It’s worded a little funny on the website.
VIP does include a ticket to the show.
Newsletters are there. Just impressively obfuscated.
Very impressive, I must say.
where are they?
I had a feeling last year that they would update their website. However, it is weird that 10,000 Days is not in the releases.
They need to secure their website ASAP.
I like the new look over-all besides a few small issues.
Hey, hellboy1975, what’s up with the FAQ section on the website? It’s all in Latin, and from I can tell, it’s just a bunch of gibberish.
probably http://www.lipsum.com/
It looks secure to me?
https://www.toolband.com
Why does Lateralus have 2017 above it, while the other releases have their actual release date?
It wasn’t secure at launch – it seems as though they’ve fixed that particular concern.
I’m sure they are still in the process of completing it. The one major difference I see is that it has lyrics written out. Didn’t they usually never use to release these? It’s nice to see something new though. I’ll always take Any progress with this band!
The old site had lyrics, though not for 10k Days.

If you have not created a webstore login, what happens to your old Tool Army password?
I logged in using the email and passwords associated with my ToolArmy account.
If that doesn’t work for you I’d try the Forgot Password option.
You might also try the following website: https://www.fullscreendirect.com/contact
If they can’t help you, they may be able to forward it to whomever is overseeing the Tool website transition.
Thanks, I’ll try emailing them. I couldn’t get it to work, even with forgot password option.
erm Chris Cornell is dead…
So you can comment and like posts on the tool website now?
Oh wow I just finalized the transaction for the VIP experience in Sacramento… Oh wow…. awesome!
I’ll let you guys know how it goes.
At risk of sounding like a professional jackass … Nothing new except some graphics and everything being linked to full screen direct. Actually a whole lot more was removed than anything being added. I posted to Full Screen Direct MONTHS ago. So we have a glorified/unified and nerfed website. Hopefully, there’s a lot more coming other than handing the keys over to full screen. At least Dissectional is still there … for now.
My guess would be they intend to add some things. I feel like it’s good cause to get excited because a move has been made now. Let’s hope for momentum to continue.
All valid points, however I think it’s fair to expect that the first iteration of a new website contain mostly just the basics. I’m expecting (with some trepidation) that more features will be added sometime in the next 80 years.
woah, now. Being a bit too optimistic there.
New graphic at the top / intro page is dope AFFFFF imo! I hope they elaborate on that style & theme in the new art & videos… psychedelic steampunky kinda. Alex is a little bit lacking subtlety these days…
I think the layout is a bit cluttered. The curvy background lines don’t integrate seamlessly and the placing / formatting of the dates is weird. Nit pick though. Have only looked at the front page.
Can’t help but take an update as a sign of things moving behind the scenes (june release confirmed). Progress m80
