Reports from the Tool Army Members Facebook page suggest that Tool will be the focus of the next issue of Kerrang Magazine, and will feature Adam Jones on “that new album”. Exactly what we’ll get remains to be seen (the title seems a bit click-baity), but I’d hesitate to suggest it’ll be anything more than “we’re still working diligently on it”…
Maynard did close out the show at the gorge tonight saying he hopes to see us again soon.
So put as much meaning into that as you want.
If I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard that said at a live show I’d have at least $23
Well 9 months ago I think they had 5 songs in the bag. So hopefully we are looking at least 6 done now. Give it another 12 months and it may be 7-8 done and ready to hit the studio in 2018. With a bit of luck we might get a digital release of a re-recorded Opiate/salival type EP this year to tide us over. That’s my prediction!
I truly think they are trying not to get totally fucked by they’re music leaking out early , hence all the misdirection. I think we see it very soon , as in the next 3 months, out of nowhere . New website, new visuals at show., tidbits on twitter, new song snipet being introduced , … watch I’m telling you
No, not going to happen.
I have entertained the same theory before. I think it’s always a possibility. Like I said before bands have been doing this lately to avoid leaks. I won’t rule anything out.
When is it supposed to come out?
June 21st is the release date for the magazine I believe
The Tool machine does seem to be a more active phase. Not sure that means the album is around the corner, but at least it means they are working it out together and haven’t disbanded! Yay!
I’ll see em again on the 23rd. I have an extra ticket if you’re in the Sacramento area this coming Friday!
Well, they’re touring at the moment so not quite sure what you mean by “disbanded”?
That’s what I’m saying. Their tour is longer, finally got a website, appearing in magazines and just more activity in general is a good sign.
I had half expected them to break up, but it looks like they are somewhat “healthy” right now.
some of you guys think too much 🙂
i wont be suprised if the mag kinda sucks.
there is always a possibility we will be pleasantly surprised by ”something” sooner then later..but sooner has become later at this point (which is fine) just sayin’ im not holding my breathe for anything.
im living in the now over this. 🙂
Some people don’t think enough… which is worse?
From what i saw in Vancouver, B.C. , the band put on the tightest most energetic show i have ever seen. They were on point and showed a level of intimacy that showed they all cared.
Maynard did say : “Tonight we dance” , “…..don’t fuck with us!” , “see you soon”.
Ive just read it. Waste of money.
Was it an online copy you read? If so where did you get it?
What was it about?
Yeah, I would like to know what was said in the publication.
“Z-Werewolf Some people don’t think enough… which is worse?”
its just as bad if its going nowhere and annoying everyone 🙂 im kidding sorta but not at the same time.
were did the mag guy go ? guess will find out whats in it soon enough.
HAHA! Yeah I suppose it’s a double edged sword huh?
I live in the UK so picked up a copy from my newsagent. Its just a recap of the Tool story so far plus an interview with Adam Jones from 2015 which doesnt tell us anything new!
Nothing interesting. There is one paragraph on new album from an interview conducted in 2015 where AJ explains that they have been getting very into mathematical aspects and the prog side of things on the new record but don’t want to just focus on that as it’s not very spontaneous or alive, also want to ‘make mistakes’ and make it more natural/impulsive
What’s the point in publishing a two year old interview about and album that still hasn’t come out? Why not print this two years ago instead? Makes no sense.
Adam did mention some things about math in the VIP Sacramento. He said they’ve been playing with some really crazy time signatures and putting odd time signatures together that aren’t normally going to fit… This next album is going to be psychotically awesome I think.
Suprise, suprise.
