Things are moving so slowly in Tool land at the moment, I’ve run out of material (and motivation) for regular posts. So while Tool are in stealth mode (likely for the rest of the year I expect) rather than bombarding you with with stuff that is only somewhat interesting, I’ll do a weekly update. This update will include Tool related stuff, relevant side projects, and even a few updates from bands that have supported Tool, or I feel would generally interest Fourtheye readers.
In this weeks episode:
- Justin gets a new bass
- The Art of Work, with Maynard James Keenan
- The Melvins rate legal weed
Got anything that might interest Fourtheye readers? Let me know!
Justin gets a new bass
Adam posted on Instagram a pic of Justin with his new Warwick bass.
Some of you may notice the whiteboard behind, suggesting that perhaps they’re working on new stuff. Frequent AJ followers on Instagram may have also noticed
The Art of Work, with Maynard James Keenan
Maynard is featuring in a number of short episodes recorded for the Revolver website, in which he discusses a range of topics – mostly about what inspires him to make music and wine.
Part 3 and 4 are yet to arrive, but keep your eyes peeled
The Melvins rate Legal Weed
The Melvins are always good for a laugh, and this interview for Pitchfork media has a few solid chuckles:
Don’t forget they have a newish album A Walk with Love & Death (which isn’t bad). And Dale has a solo album called The Fickle Finger of Fate (which is better).
Good idea. I dig it. Melvins are funny. Now everybody go spin Bullhead.
Tool seem to be in total stealth mode. Not much to say anymore until that fateful day when there is an actual announcement of something official.
I honestly thought they were not working at all at this point. So, I guess it is somewhat encouraging to see that pic of Justin at the loft. I thought they had moved from the loft months ago though, for some reason. Wasn’t there a post about that?
Not sure if I posted about it. From memory I think the move was a temporary one, though I heard some rumblings that perhaps the Loft was going to move, as none of the members of the band live in Hollywood these days. The picture looks like the old Loft to me, but not 100% sure.

Thanks for the link buddy. That little video they did is kind of funny but also kinda cool. That bass… OMG IS SO SEXXXY…
Yeah, I actually made the mistake of post
Yeah, I made the mistake of posting before watching and just assumed it’d have the guitar specs or maybe even Justin talking about or playing it. Amazing guitar but what odd marketing.
HAHA! Yeah I don’t know that they are really marketing it. More so just showing it off really. I doubt this will go to production as a signature bass.
They certainly should have shown Justin playing it or helping develop it or something.
The neck looks very much like his WAL and I’m sure they made that to spec for him because he has been playing that damn thing for so long. Comfortability would certainly play a huge factor in the specs.
“Weekly”
LOL
Actually the date on the title isn’t right – this update actually went out on the 11th. Next update will be tomorrow!
