Rivers Edge Music Festival Schedule

The Rivers Edge Music Festival approaches, and they have finally released a schedule for the day, with Tool on stage at 8:45pm and playing for 1 hour and 15 minutes until 10:00pm. Presumably 10:00pm is some kind of noise curfew, and anything pre-8:45 is too light to do the stage show justice Either way, 75 minutes is about standard length for a headline set at a festival (here in Australia at least anyway), and who knows, Tool played past the curfew here in Adelaide, so they may well do so in Minnesota as well.

Plenty of Fourtheye readers seem to be heading to the gig, if you feel like drinking all their beer and smoking all their weed then maybe you should contact them in the forum.

Now here’s a picture of Cakes courtesy of Adam:

Tool not recording on a boat

Maynard was interviewed recently by the Star Tribune in the leadup to the River’s Edge Festival featuring both Tool and Puscifer. He didn’t really have much to add to progress on the new Tool album, but did talk about Tool a little more than in other recent interviews:

On what’s taking so long for the follow-up to Tool’s last album, 2006′s “10,000 Days”: “We’ve been brothers for over 22 years, so the personalities are all in check. If you want more information than that, I’m not giving you a dime, because whatever little bit I say always gets blown up. Like, ‘Hey, I hear you guys are recording on a boat.’ No, I mentioned the word ‘boat,’ and I mentioned ‘recording,’ and they were like seven paragraphs apart. We’re not recording on a boat. So I don’t say anything. When it finally comes to it, you will absolutely know where things are with the band.”

On the benefits and disadvantages of having Tool’s only concert of the summer: “I can’t speak for the rest of the band, but I think a show like this is a nice, exciting challenge for any band, something to keep us on our toes. If you don’t challenge yourselves, it’s easy to get lazy as a band. I can’t actually rehearse with them this time because I’m traveling around, but the other guys will absolutely rehearse. We can’t just go out there unprepared and risk looking like a bunch of clowns.”

He also answers a few questions about Puscifer, but nothing we didn’t already know.

Danny’s Glass Snare

An article on Toolband today reveals a new snare drum in Danny‘s arsenal, this time made of glass. The post reveals:

Aaron Harris shows me Danny’s new prototype GLASS SNARE while dismantling the drum kit that will be used during TOOL’S performance at the RIVER’S EDGE FESTIVAL on St. Paul’s Harriet Island SATURDAY, JUNE 23. Aaron will be Danny’s drum tech for the gig, so let’s hope the damn thing is shatter proof.

Let’s hope it’s stronger than your typical Radiohead stage! Here’s a pic:

In other news Blair posted some stuff about a thing called a Patuxent Monster. I’m sure there’s probably some kind of code hidden away in there somewhere – first one to decipher it gets a free months subscription!

Tool Production Still

Blair has confirmed on Toolband that the arm posted by Adam on Twitter recently is in fact a Tool Production Still:

TOOL PRODUCTION STILL
In case you missed Adam’s recent twitter post, here’s a production still from a new TOOL PROJECT that should be out in the Fall.

No word on what this project may be, I can speculate it is the rumoured video for The Pot, but at this stage information is scarce. Considering it’s due in the Fall, presumable we might get some more concrete details in the coming months.

Adam posts severed arm

I normally don’t get too carried away posting everything that various members of Tool put on social media, but it’s been a slow day so I’m going to make an exception. A few hours ago Adam tweeted the photo blow, which would appear to be a severed arm. What is interesting to me is the “toolband.com” plastered all over it. Image from the rumoured The Pot video perhaps?

Salival, Lateralus and 10,000 Days webcasts now available

Parabolateralus posted in the Fourtheye forums this morning links to three Tool webcasts recorded with Tool in the leadup to Salival, Lateralus and 10,000 Days. From memory these were recorded for Toolarmy members, and have since been lost in the ether (except for the 10,000 Days one, which is still there).

Anyway, if you have a spare couple of hours free, and I know you do, then take a listen to these interesting interviews:

Rare Undertow Studio DAT silent auction

Occasionally I get asked to help sell some rare Tool memorabilia, and last week I was approached Tool collector GNX to help sell a rare Undertow studio DAT. This Digital Audio Tape is one of three mastered recordings – one for the CD, one for the LP and one for cassette. This particular one is the cassette version.

According to GNX it is the same recording as used on Undertow, but sounds much clearer, and you can sounds that aren’t really detectable on the released recording. For example the symbols ring out much more clearly.

Serious offers for this collectible can be emailed to me, and I will pass them onto GNX. I have no idea what the reserve is, so don’t ask, but it’s safe to say this item should go for a reasonable amount to the right buyer.

Note that while I consider GNX to be a reliable seller of Tool collectibles (items of his have appeared on the site in the past) Fourtheye claims no responsibility to the authenticity of items sold. All purchases are at your own risk!

Also, GNX will be watching this thread, so feel free to ask any questions in regards to this item in the comments section.

Danny Carey with the School of Rock house band

I know you all love watching Danny Carey videos, and memphisdj emailed me a new one this morning, where Danny plays with the kids from the School of Rock house band:

Not a bad effort from all involved, and it was great to see Danny rocking out on a relatively small drumkit!

Update: According to Loudwire, Danny also offered an update on the new album:

While the group hasn’t fully returned to recording, he did admit that they “have he framework of at least five good songs,” and that they hope to finish their next album by the end of the year.
