Just FYI, that 46&2 intro has been in use since the Lateralus tour, and I’m not so sure the Vicarious one is new either. ![]() |

yep, i can attest to that. there were definitely a few new things but at the most were probably 60 seconds long. nothing to be that excited about imo. |

Yeah, I have to agree. I doubt a bunch of synth is “new material”. Maybe for an interlude or something, but who knows. |

I climbed around and found a good spot to listen to the soundcheck for Red Rocks night #2. After rehearsing Intension, Right in Two, and Flood, they played something very interesting for about a minute or two. I can’t say for sure it was new material, but I had never heard it before, definitely not a cover… and it had a distinct “tool” sound. Ive been playing it over and over in my head hoping to hear it on the new album. |

While he might have said that, you only have to listen to ‘Judith’ and ‘Wings for Marie’ back to back to realize how flaky maynard can be in his opinions. Judith seems to me to be more about Maynard’s anger over the fact that his mother was injured and paralyzed. He is saying- look where religion got you- look what god is doing for you now- nothing. But then Wings is a song about how great his mother was- more genuine and better than pseudo-pious fake people who use religion to prey on others. IMO, this is not at all opposing points of view- Maynard is no flake… |

hellboy i have to say i know they have been playing the 46&2 one since 2001 but it still has a chance and they added to the vicarious intro its not the same as the previous tours |

its just like how they played a part of wings before lateralus in 2002 and that was a long ways away from 10,000 days |

Im sorry but why would you even want the 46&2 intro to feature on the new album? It’s just a crappy piece of synth linking songs together… what could be new material from the 2010 tour is the Schism intro, check out the SF bootleg and tell me im wrong. ![]() ![]() |

I wish Maynard would just admit that he’s not into Tool anymore. It’s obvious his vineyard and Puscifer are his passion these days. I’d rather him call it a day with Tool than put out a heartless album with vocals by numbers. Maybe even the other guys should stay together, because they do have amazing chemistry, find a new (hungry) singer and call the band something else and put out music more frequently. Because I don’t think it’s so much the other guys holding up the album. At least from the bits and pieces of interviews I’ve seen here and there. If all of the wine and Puscifer wasn’t evidence enough that Tool was pretty far down on the priority list for Maynard, then starting up things with APC just after a successful Tool tour should be clear to everyone. To me it’s like a slap in the face. Not that I don’t like A Perfect Circle, I love them. But if he REALLY cared about Tool and putting an album out with them, wouldn’t he have taken all the experience of being fresh from a tour, playing with these guys every night, and use that energy to make a record? No, he’d rather stall more and do APC. That’s why as good as this most recent Tool tour was, I think it was yet another cash grab to fund his pet projects while the other Tool guys just wanted to be out doing SOMETHING if it wasn’t going to be doing the album. I love this band and want something to happen or just definitively say it won’t. Stop stalling and leading everyone on. |

Not that there’s really a set path…a defined structure…other than the approximate 5 year intervals…but…I wouldn’t bet on seeing a new album in spring of next year: In August of 2005 Blair was already posting pictures of the guys recording with Joe Barresi, and then the album hit in April 2006. Here we are…August 2010…hoping for an album next year…and…unless Blair and the band are keeping the recording process close to the chest this time around…it’s going to be a while before we have a new release. I’m not complaining…just speculating…preparing myself for a bit of a longer wait. |
