Maynard James Keenan of Tool/Puscifer fame has been hinting in recent interviews that A Perfect Circle may reconvene next year to work on new material and presumably tour in support of it.

Not sure what to think of that.  Personally I’ll believe a significant APC reunion when I see it…

Christophe emailed me to mention that there are several Paul D’Amour bits and pieces floating around on the web these days.  Myspace has some unreleased Feersum Ennjin stuff there, and here’s a few Youtube links:

Finally, according to a recent Tweet from Maynard, Puscifer will be releasing an EP in early November.

For those without patience, here’s an overview:

• Tom Morello wrote Cuntry Boner (was performed with Adam in Electric Sheep originally).  He also hinted it may be played on the next Puscifer tour.
• Mentioned he’d love some of the Alice In Chains guys to join him onstage with Puscifer in Seattle.
• Talks about winemaking, and it’s theraputic value (to him).
• Tool should hopefully do something after the Spring Puscifer tour, once they’ve got their rehearsal space sorted.  He also mentioned doing some more A Perfect Circle.
• Mentioned Bill Hicks, and talked about his time with him and influence.
• Talks about how Puscifer and APC has saved Tool.  Puscifer isn’t about money, he mentioned that if money was what he’s after, then he’d just tour with Tool non-stop.
• Talked about his part in Crank 2.  Turned out to be a much longer scene than anticipated.
• The movie The Other Side Maynard is slated to appear in will probably never happen.

Firstly, Maynard appears in the new movie Crank 2, which also features Danny Lohner, Mike Patton doing the soundtrack, and some dude from Linkin Park.  Thanks to Ziggy and AZB for the tips.

In another movie related item, apparently The Taking of Pelham 123 will have an A Perfect Circle remix appearing on the soundtrack.  Cheers Hurtfrog!

Maynard tweeted a couple of times, alluding to being in certain places at certain times.  Possibly Tool, everything is as vague as you’d expect:

Oakland/Fox Theater? Seattle/Moore Theater? June? Anything is possible.

And

Wine events coming to the Midwest, NorthEast and SouthEast. But No Puscifer shows in those areas yet. Sorry. Soon. Hold please.

And

Possible dates in the NorthWest.

Aaron Harris from Isis confirms the tracks that Adam appears on Wavering Radiant:

Aaron continued to explain the exact contribution Adam Jones did on ‘Waving radiant, “He just did some guitar and its not gonna be that recognizable, its not your typical guitar sounds. I think he used an ebo and effects. But it still has that signature Adam Jones sound to it.”

Now on what tracks does Adam Jones play what Aaron describes as “a whole fading frog sound”? The opening song ‘Hall of the Dead’ and the instrumental title track ‘Waving Radiant’.

“I doubt if we’ll do any touring or, you know, do a full album,” he said. “We might do some one-off shows here and there if the timing’s right and it seems like a good vibe and a smart thing to do. But most likely we’ll just kind of concentrate on, you know, one or two songs at a time, rather than investing all the time and money and effort into making those plastic discs that no one cares about anymore.”

I can never find links to the Pulse of Radio interviews on-line (I suspect it’s some kind of radio station) but I think this came from the same interview I quoted yesterday where Maynard mention he expected Tool to be working together again next year.  Personally I hope Maynard finds more time for Tool sooner, rather than playing around with APC again.

What is the status of Tool and A Perfect Circle.

I don’t know. We’re working on Puscifer right now.

Hard
to say. Those other projects are always in the works. There’s always
something going on. So nothing’s changed. Just as before, every time I
go out with Perfect Circle, people ask me what’s going on with Tool. I
go back to Tool, people ask me what’s going on with Perfect Circle.
They’re still alive.

Personally I hope Tool is more alive than APC, though as long as it’s not another eMotive, I’d welcome a new APC album.

“I don’t know what the future’s going to hold, but all I can see is Ashes Divide now,” he said. “I wouldn’t say APC is dead, but until further notice, we’re not doing a whole lot. We might do a surprise thing here or there, but right now, Ashes Divide will have my full focus.”

Quite an interesting article and worth reading if you’re an APC/Howerdel fan.
