Just a final couple of things on the Toolarmy Crowleymas chat.

It will start at 9pm PST (2pm AEST 13th Oct.) and the chat rooms should be back up sometime before then, though as I write this I seemed to be able to login, but not able to do anything.

Guests Include:

  • Adam, Maynard and & Danny. No Justin because he’s away.
  • Alex Grey
  • Aaron from Isis
  • kaRIN and Statik from Collide

See you all there and don’t forget to say hello to me (hellboy)!

The Axl Rose Story

Some time after the August Newsletter, the part regarding Blairs alleged Xmas with Axl Rose was removed. Who knows why, but in case you’re interested in reading it again, here it is:

This was about the time I spent Christmas with Axl Rose. I shit you not. This was a few years ago, I having been invited to the singer’s Malibu home by my friend Chris Pitman (who, at the time, was in Guns N’ Roses – hell, he might still be!). This was no major gathering (to say the least). As I recall there was only Axl, his brother, a female personal assistant, Chris and myself. But I remember that when I arrived, Axl was in the kitchen, peering into the refrigerator, looking for the ingredients to make a crude secret sauce, the color of which reminded me of the gooey stuff slathered on Dog N’ Suds burgers (an all but forgotten Midwest chain of drive-ins with carhops).

This prompted a discussion of gut rumbles from the past, and, in that Axl grew up in the Midwest (from some paradise city in Indiana, I think), he was quite familiar with those rather unremarkable Dog N’ Suds charbroiled burgers all dressed up with their secret sauce (yep, just like those in Fast Times at Ridgemont High). In fact, on this starry Christmas evening, it seemed as if he was maybe even attempting to duplicate the Dog N’ Suds secret. In case you’re wondering, the rest of the evening was fairly
uneventful, no wild drinking, drugs or riots. A traditional X-mas dinner with all the trimmings (traditional save for the fact that the turkey had TWO hearts, a little detail that I wouldn’t be able to share with you had Axl’s people convinced me to sign a confidentiality agreement) was served well after midnight, and then around 3:00 AM (if memory serves me right) lots of presents under the tinsel-festooned tree were opened (many of them being of a robotic nature). There was even a couple under there with my name on them, meaning that Axl had a pretty good personal assistant!

No other particularly exiting Tool news lately, though some fans have speculated that this Axl story is simply a clue laden work of fiction regarding the new CD. Rumours include a Xmas Day release, a Double CD as well as Robot Inspired art work.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see……

Vinyl, Aloke and Daily Grail Updates

Anohter update on Toolband and Toolarmy indicates that:

  • The Autographed Lateralus Vinyl is on it’s way to the printers. Now I’m not an expert on the vinyl printing industry, but I’d suggest that it’d be several weeks before this becomes available. ‘There will be plenty of advance warning’ Blair says (sort of).
  • Aloke Dutta is playing in Norman, Oklahoma on the 19th of August and in Dallas, Texas on the 20th. Put on your 10 gallon hat’s and party with the tabla master.
  • Daily Grail has some Google Earth coordinates for numerous places including Area 51 and Pine Gap. It even looks like Greg from the Daily Grail is an Aussie. Good onya mate! unfortunately no coordinates of Tool members houses. If you have any let me know!
  • For all you Google Earth (or NASA World Wind) fans out there, try and find me in Yeppoon, Queensland!

Lateralus Vinyl – Official

A new post from Blair on the Toolband site confirms that the Lateralus Vinyl Edition will be released some time in August, and that the 23rd ‘sounds pretty good’. This may put to rest the rumours regarding Teleincision coming out in August (presuming of course Teleincicion is a legitimate release at all, which I doubt). More details are to come in the next few days.

… – .. – - . – -

It seems as though Blair has finally given us some Tool information on Toolband. Nothing particularly exciting, just more confirmation that everything is going smoothly, and that the band a being delibertaly quiet regarding the recording process, though as soon as they decide to release further info, it’ll appear on the Tool site rather than some random record store.

Blair also left some code in the post “… – .. – - . – -”, presumable morse code that spells STITTETT. Doesn’t make much sense to me though. Anyone else got any ideas?

BMB Ramblings

Blair has once again made a couple of posts on Toolband/army. A lot of fluff but a few interesting things.

Firstly Volto and Pigmy Love Circus should be playing in August, when Danny is less busy with his other band. Secondly the Pigmy’s seem to have a myspace site here.

Finally, and more importantly to us Tool fans, that he’ll reveal further information on “this ‘Teleincision’ business that I keep getting emails about.”.

Who know’s what’ll be revealed. My instincts tell me that he’ll deny that Teleincision is anything to do with Tool, and that after paragraphs of unrelated stories, possibly involving religious relics, there’s no further information on their new CD/DVD/Range of Designer Backpacks.

Feel free to prove me wrong Blair…..

Prying Open

About two years ago, I discovered RSS feeds. As simple method of streaming information and news from a correctly set up website.

Shortly after that I discovered a Blog, the Living Colour Blog, which outlined the news and events of the band Living Colour. It included an RSS feed, which I find makes life very easy to collect the kind of information I wanted about the band.

Today, as I searched for some information on my favorite band, Tool, I found that there was no such equivalent website/RSS feed. So here it is.

The goals of this Blog include not only collecting Tool news and events, but also the various side projects and other goings on involving the four members of Tool. This will include, but is not restricted to A Perfect Circle, Pigmy Love Circus, etc.

This site is not meant to override any of the other great Tool recources out there, this is simply to provide an RSS link to the information, as well as some possible commentry on the events.

Thanks for joining me on this ride, and feel free to comment at any time, as well as submitting any information that I and any other Tool finds may find useful.
