Puscifer coming soon

According to Maynard’s Myspace site:

greetings from some hotel room in Seoul, Korea.
i know i’ve said it and said it, but it looks like we are about a week or so away from launching www.puscifer.com
just a few finishing touches on the backend, a few MP3 and .gif uploads, some splash page construction, etc… then we launch. Cherie did some .gif photography for the merch section which should be lovely. of course the site will evolve a bit as time goes on. and i will be working on new music over the course of the next year. (nothing finished at the moment, so save your breath.)
thank you for your patience. i’ll hit you all with another note once the site launched.

peace

out

Personally, I’m not holding my breath.  Nothing from Puscifer has impressed me yet, but I’ll check it out when the time comes and see what it turns out like.  Thanks to Panoply for the tip.

Followup to San Diego

Here’s an article I read this morning from SignOnSanDiego talking about the events of the recent San Diego concert, during which 15 people were injured. If found the article to be quite interesting, and talks in depth about the responses by the local authorities, and praise for Maynard and the band in how they dealt with the situation. Sadly it seems that some of these injuries are life threatening, so I’m sure all readers here hope these fans come though alright. There were some reports that there was a death, however I’ve been unable to confirm this on the brief search I did this morning.

Happier news now, The Melvins have a new CD coming out later this year. It’s called A Senile Animal and should be released on the 10th of October. This will be their first album since merging with Big Business and knowing The Melvins, should be well worth checking out. No word on whether Adam makes an appearance, though considering his schedule, I’d be guess he won’t.

Here’s the cover art, done as usual by Buzz’s wife Mackie. In case the style is somewhat familiar to you, Mackie has also done artwork for Tool in the past, including 10,000 Days.

Edit: Actually I should say I presume it’s done by Mackie.  There doesn’t seem to be any confirmation, but it does look like her style.  Eeither way, I like it!

VOLTO!

It would seem that VOLTO! as going to play a show while Danny passes time between tours, this time at the Baked Potato on the 20th of July.  For advanced tickets call 818-980-1615, and from what I understand, due to the size of the venue, they do sell out.

Volto! and JZ

Blair tells us (I think) that there’s a couple of good shows coming up:

Firstly on the 3rd of July, JZ and his Hubcap Corral will be playing at the Baked Potato.  Apparently there’ll be a BBQ out the back, and Tool fans are invited.  Who knows who will show up.

Then, on the 20th of July, Volto! will be playing also at the Baked Potato.  No word on whether or not Danny will be playing, though after looking at the tour dates, there’s no reason he wouldn’t be.

Article + Les

Blksun on Toolarmy sent me some scans of a recent Tool article in Classic Rock UK magazine.  Here’s some links for your enjoyment:

I also found a brief interview with Les Claypool, where he talks about his new solo album “Of Whales and Woe”, Primus recording next year and his desire to follow through with the Adrian Belew and Danny Carey project.  Hopefully this may mean a tour, though considering Tool will be quite busy the next 12 months, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

And for those of you who love Slayer like me, there new single is out, and sounds pretty cool….

Living Colour, Rumours

For those of you who live in Sydney, and have nothing to do on Saturday night (the 20th) make sure you get on over to The Roxy to see one of my favorite bands – Living Colour.  These guys (as well as Tool and Faith No More) we’re probably the biggest influences on me musically when I was younger.  Sadly, they’re touring nowhere near Northern Queensland, so I won’t get to see them.

All four members of the band are at the top of their fields, and music lovers won’t be dissappointed with their skills, and musical talent.  Make sure you support them, so that they feel like coming down here again at a time when I might be able to catch them!

Finally, there’s a bit of a rumour going around about the forthcoming Vicarious DVD.  None of this seems to be based on any evidence I’ve seen, but distortiononline printed it, so I will too:

In other news, a huge rumor regarding the release date and content of the “Vicarious” DVD has surfaced. Supposedly, it will be released on June 6 (06/06/06 aka 666) and will also contain a video for “Wings for Marie/10,000 Days” (18+ mins.) And as another shocker, the rumor states that there will be 4 concert recordings (3 from 2002, 1 from 2006). If this is true, this is fantastic news. -EyeChakra

Think of it what you will……
