Tool sales wrap-up, APC do Arizona

Ticket sales for the two side shows have now pretty much wrapped up, with Melbourne sold out, and Brisbane being close to it – at time of writing there were some silver tickets only left, all single seats.  Ticketek sales for the Brisbane show went pretty smoothly, and Ticketmaster for Melbourne not so.  My experience this morning with Ticketmaster was that at about 9:00:15 there were only GA tickets left, and by 9:03:00 they were all gone.

No point going again into the debacle that was the Ticketmaster/Toolarmy Pre-sale, but I hope everyone has been able to get a ticket to the show they desire, even if it wasn’t in the seating position of their liking.  As usual, scalpers will be making a killing, with GA Melbourne tickets at around $250 online, and Gold tickets anywhere between $350-$900.  Take care if you are planning on heading down this route, and be aware that any tickets you try to buy and sell on Fourtheye must be at face value plus reasonable postage costs.  Leave the scalping for Ebay.  If you are looking at trading tickets, then please use the trading thread I’ve just created.

A Perfect Circle have kicked off their West Coast US Tour with the first three dates in Arizona.  Talking to people who attended the shows, it was a great, although short experience, as the band played their nominated album on the night, and not much else.  Don’t go expecting a two hour (or even 90 minute) set and you won’t be disappointed.  Here’s a review plus a couple of photos for those interested.

Pre-Sale Wrap Up, Adam Jones Interview

Well the pre-sales happened earlier today. Brisbane went about as smoothly as you’d hope. Tickets may even still be available if you haven’t got them already. Melbourne on the other handle was a cock up of epic proportions. In between wrong passwords, My Ticketmaster pre-sales and the late availablilty of Gold Tickets, there’s a wide range of fans, myself included who feel a little pissed that they missed out. Good news it that we at least have Monday to try again, and getting lawn tickets at the back wasn’t all that hard. Anyone who wants to help me out with with a gold ticket should let me know.

Some are hoping there might be some kind of second pre-sale to make up for the mistakes made on the first. I think this is pretty unlikely to happen, so don’t go getting your hopes up.

In more interesting news, there’s a short interview with Adam on Gun Shy Assassin where he talks about Faith No More amongst other things…

I ask Adam if he’d please tour with Faith No More. Then, I get the answer I wanted to hear. “I’m up for anything,” Jones tells Gun Shy. “I’m the guy in the band who wants to tour, who will drop what he’s doing and hit the books. But there’s just…you know, I’m married to three other guys and we’re all very different, so…I am [down to tour with Faith No More], and if something like that happened, it would be amazing but…hey, it is what it is.”

A Faith No More/Tool tour would be the greatest tour in history.

Toolarmy Store gets an update

Chris emailed me today to let me know that the Toolarmy store has had an update recently.  Even better news is that there are a couple of new designs in the shirts section.  Well, at least a couple I don’t recognize anyway.

Just to comment a little, I don’t think this is any indication of a new site.  it just looks to me like they’ve installed a shopping cart app and whacked a theme on it.  Still I don’t want to sound too negative, as it is good to actually see some kind of progress on the site.  It’s also accessible to Non-Toolarmy members as well, so I guess if you wanted to order a shirt and didn’t want to join up, you probably can now.

“Toolarmy need your help” Clarification

I received an email from Alan Jones last night (Adam’s brother and Tool’s attorney) who confirmed that yesterdays request for Tool  advertising material is 100% legitimate.  He mentioned that it is for a legal problem regarding litigation with the insurance industry as a fallout of the case against Cam De Leon.

Edit: Alan wanted to let you all know that this is definitely no reflection on Cam.  Tool have buried the hatchet with him and that case is long over.

Basically what they are after are examples of pure advertising (Tool show posters, newspaper and magazine ads) that contain those specific pieces of Cam-Tool related artwork.  Note that Tool have copies of the art themselves – they are particularly interested in it being used in advertising.

If you do have any of the following, the please visit this site and submit them:

  • Tool Wrench
  • The eye from the cover of Aenima
  • The picture of the white box on the back of Aenima
  • The Opiate Priest that appears on the cover of the Opiate
  • The Stinkfist characters
  • The Prison Sex characters
  • Novus Opiate Seclorum
  • Medicine Man
  • Infiniteeth

Alternatively, if you really don’t want to submit your information on that site, send the scans to me and I’ll email them to Alan directly.

Tool Army need your help

An email came out today from Toolarmy (I didn’t seem to get a copy, despite being a member), asking for help in locating some specific pieces of Tool art.  If you have any thing listed below in your collection, then please check out the website mentioned and submit it.

Dear Tool Army,

The band would greatly appreciate a little help. We are looking for samples of advertisements that contain certain artwork that were used in advertising Tool shows and merchandising. Specifically, we are looking for flyers, posters, magazine ads, newspaper ads, etc., that advertise Tool and contain any of the following artwork. – Tool Wrench
- The eye from the cover of Aenima
- The picture of the white box on the back of Aenima
- The Opiate Priest that appears on the cover of the Opiate
- The Stinkfist characters
- The Prison Sex characters
- Novus Opiate Seclorum
- Medicine Man
- Infiniteeth
If you have anything like this, please scan and send the picture of the whole ad to us athttp://www.pure-eng.com/~toolemail/. If you know when and where the ad was posted – that’s even better.
Visit Our Website Thanks for your support!

Feel free to speculate on what this is really about below!  Thanks to funguy for the tip!

Update: There is some speculation that this may be a scam.  I don’t think it is, but have sent an email to Alan Jones  (Adam’s brother, and Tool’s attorney mentioned in the email) for a comment.  In the meantime, if you’re especially protective of your email address, don’t submit anything.

Update 2: It’s not a scam

Toolarmy Returns

Toolarmy is back online.  Thankfully my prediction of it being permanently down turned out to be false.  You can all stop spamming my comments boards now ;) I hope you all enjoyed your visit – come back every now and then!

Update: It’s back, but seems a little borked.  I couldn’t post a comment for example.

Update 2: Blair has the following to say about the fiasco:

Obviously the websites are back online. However, unfortunately, the “MESSAGE BOARDS” and features related to them are still currently undergoing maintenance and will be unavailable until further notice. Now that I can once again post, let me clear up something about my earlier announcement regarding Tool Army going dark for a while: I posted this moments after receiving the news, myself, but didn’t expect the TOOL BAND site to ALSO be shut down (obviously!).

To be fair, I don’t think there’s any point blaming Blair for any of this.  Kinda like blame Tool for not playing a gig when the power is out…

Toolarmy Update

Word from a semi-official source tells me that in regards to the Tool/Toolarmy servers:

  • The maintenance is planned, and it will be back “soon”
  • Don’t expect any upgrades (yet)

Update: The following message was seen on Toolband moments before the downtime commenced:

27 October, 2009

TOOL ARMY GOING DARK FOR A WHILE

Please be advised that any time now the ToolArmy site will be shut down while we deal with some maintenance issues. As of now, I’m not sure how long it will take to make the necessary adjustments. Thanks for your patience and continued support.
