Toolarmy Maynard Artwork on Ebay

One of the 500 limited edition artworks by Maynard (Sieben I believe it was called), available only to Toolarmy members is now available on Ebay.  The item is currently at US$849, not bad for something was originally around the $200 mark initially (if my recollection is accurate).  According to the description:

For auction from 2003 is this Limited Edition Artwork by TOOL front man Maynard James Keenan. I have never seen this up for auction on Ebay before. This Artwork was only available through ToolArmy.com (Tools OFFICIAL Fan Site) in 2003 on a first come first serve basis. This Artwork sold out in under one minute for all available copies. I have copy 64 / 500. The artwork is not printed on white stock, it is an off white cream color. The color in the scans is not discoloration. Just as beautiful as the day it arrived! All 4 corners are CRISP AND SHARP! This piece is MINT!!!

Despite what the seller says, I’m pretty sure it didn’t sell out in under a minute.  It was available for sale for some time, though is no longer.  For those with deep pockets in these tight economic times, a piece I’m sure well worth investing in…

April Newsletter

Blair posted the April Newsletter today, which was pretty short and confirms four tour dates – the three festivals and Salt Lake City.  He mentions that he will be posting other info on Toolarmy for a change.  So far only one post I can find, which suggests he knows the dates for the summer tour, and that there are no LA dates at this stage.  LA fans need not freak out as he mentioned a possible “SoCal venue (a bit off the beaten track)”.

Given that he appears to know the dates now, I’d expect a tour date release to be imminent.

Also to be found on Toolarmy recently are plenty of posts from Jr, one of the Tool Stage Crew.  Nothing revealing as far as dates or releases go, but quite interesting for those curious about how the Tool tour machine works.

Lollapalooza Confirmed?

Blair made a cryptic post on Toolarmy today:

Anyone besides Buzz, Junior and I see that blistering line drive of a foul ball the other night at Dodger Stadium that damn near postponed a certain tour? Easier just to buy one of the damn things. Speaking of baseball (which I love), in planning my… vacation, while in Chi-Town the second week in August (when the weather’s nice), I was hoping to see the Cubs at Wrigley Field (having never been there). A little research would have been nice. Turns out that during that time the Cubs will be on the road – in Colorado, facing our friend Glendon Rusch and the Rockies. So, no Wrigley Field. Oh well, anyone know where I can get a good dog in Chicago. One with a little attitude? I’ve got an extra twenty that I’m saving for the occasion.

Some people read this to be a metaphor in regards to some upcoming Tool dates, including the much rumoured Lollapalooza.  The official lineup is announced tomorrow apparently so we’ll know soon enough.

Don’t Panic!

Toolband and Toolarmy seem to be down at the moment (23:25 AEST) and have been down for a little while now.  No inidication when they might be back up, or why they’re down.  Some might suggest they’re being upgraded, who knows…

Update: woke up and it’s working again.  No changes.  Hooray for technology!

Tool to play Bonnaroo?

Pee from Toolarmy did a search for Tool on the Coast To Coast ticketing site, and it found an entry for the Bonnaroo Festival for the 11th of June.  The Bonnaroo site has a few bands that are playing, but none of them look big enough to be headline acts yet, so Tool could easily fit into the bill.  Given that Tool seem to be joining the festival set this summer, and they’ve played this event in the past, I’d say this is a pretty likely thing.

Would seem to me as though Tool are very much interested in playing festivals at the moment.  If there’s a festival in your part of the US, it’s probably be worth looking into it, and seeing if Tool are a possibility.  Personally, I think the “tour” may just be a collection of festival dates, with maybe a few warm-up shows in LA or something.

Tool January Newsletter

Blair released the Tool January Newletter today, despite the fact it’s February.  It talks about, and includes a picture of a bug found in a readers Vicarious DVD, and includes a vision, which may or may not mean something.  Not sure what to make of it, but the reference to various Toolarmy Ranks and so on could have some meaning.  Change coming to the website soon perhaps?

There’s also a picture of Danny at the recent NBA All-Stars game.  Looks like he could only get a seat in the nosebleed section!

Volto! gig, Pigmy pictures, ‘Busy” band members

Blair posted several updates to Toolband/Army today.  The first lot where a bunch of pictures from the recent Pigmy Love Circus gig.  Some nice work there with several shots take by Danny‘s girlfriend RynneToolarmy members get a close up of Danny in action.

Also mentioned is that there is a Volto! gig coming up on Friday the 6th of March at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood.  Blair mentions it will be the last Volto! gig for a while:

as certain band members might be busy with other projects in the months ahead.

Read into that what you will…

A Toolarmy Exclusive post today from Blair revealed that a hidden stash of Salival DVD‘s has been found in the Tool warehouse, and that 33 of these have been signed by the band recently and will be sold to Toolarmy members this Xmas.  These DVD’s (price unknown at the moment) will go on sale in the Toolarmy Bazaar sometime this Friday.
