ccornell from Toolarmy, took some time of from recording Audioslave’s new CD today, to tell us that he heard on the radio that Tool will be playing in Phoenix, Arizona sometime in May.  Details are a bit sketchy on date and location, so don’t go booking your flights just yet.

Looks like you Americans will be getting a few shows before the lads head off to Europe….

sobertoolfan9 on Toolarmy found this snippet on Launch:

Sources have told Launch that TOOL is booking two concert dates in New York City for late May, with the dates and exact venue yet to be announced. The group is also rumored to be hitting several other cities that same month, including Seattle and Oakland. These shows will follow TOOL’s April 30 headlining performance at the Coachella festival in Indio, California, which will be the band’s first live appearance in the U.S. since 2002.

In other news, it would seem that Tool have mastered the art of teleportation and are actually all over the world allowing select fans to hear 10,000 Days.  Wow!

Just a quick note, Fourtheye won’t be resorting to a predictable April Fools Joke this year, so expect everything you read here today to be 100% true!  Good Luck!

Tool at Coachella

Just a quickie….

Blair also writes that he spoke to Danny regarding the Coachella gig, and the Tool will be play at least some of the new CD there. Kinda gives me the impression that it’ll be more of the old show + a couple of new songs, rather than the “new” Tool experience, if indeed there is such a thing.

Oh and there was some crap about the Schism and Parabola Tool videos being shown at obscure Californian movie festivals. Eureka!

Alex Grey Comments, Butcher/Volto/Tool Live

In the recent CoSM Newsletter, it briefly talks about the 10,000 Days artwork. Nothing particularly new though:

Many fans have inquired regarding the album art TOOL has released on Amazon for pre-sale of the album. The cover is an adaptation of Alex Grey’s painting, Net of Being.

Blair on Toolband/Army posts today that Butcher played recently with some disturbing new artwork. He also mentions that Volto are playing in the near future, and that you should catch them now, as they may not be playing again for a while. They’re playing the Knitting Factory on March the 31st and then the La Ve Lee in April sometime. Danny will be too cought up in the machine called Tool to play more shows, so if you want to see them, see them now!

Speaking of Tool, they’re apparently getting ready for Coachella on April 30, and according to Blair “any other shows the might decide to do”…..

Australian Pre-Order, Ticket Sales

March 25th, 2006

Mattw from Toolnavy has told me that 10,000 Days can be pre-ordered at Sanity.com.au. Prices is $31 which seems a little pricey for an Australian release, but the release date seems to be the 1st of May.

Just one quick thing about ticket sales, I normally don’t pay too much attention to when tickets go on sale, especially for non-Australian shows. If any of you have any info regarding ticket sales (especially overseas) send me an email and I’ll happily post them on Fourtheye.

A couple of quick snippets from around the web:

It’s been mentioned in several places, in particular on Toolnavy that US radio will be playing the new single sometime between the 12th and the 17th of April.  Not long to go now.  Of course if memory serves me correctly, Schism was available from the Tool website a good week or so before Triple J played it for the first time here in Australia.  Maybe we’ll be getting it sooner than we think?

According to Blair of Toolband/Army Butcher will be playing on the 29th of March at The Scene with Mother Tongue and Wulf Hammir.  Don’t forget about the upcoming shows with Isis either….

Blair also commented on the recent artwork posted on Toolband, and mentioned that essentially it’s a picture generated to be sent of to website which need to have some form of visual reference for the CD.  This certainly suggests that the actual artwork may something ‘undisplayable’ with a normal picture.  It’s probably a safe bet that it’s not the actual artwork, only an approximation of it.

Finally, according to JB77 on Toolnavy, Triple J confirmed that Tool will be touring Australia shortly after the release of the new album, but no dates have been confirmed.  Though in light of the recent Japanese Festival announcement, it’s most likely to be mid to late August.

Tool in Japan

March 20th, 2006

According to Yaz on Toolarmy, Tool are confirmed at the Summer Sonic Festival in Japan on the 12th and 13th of August.  This certainly clashes with the previously rumoured Australian tour dates. Still is great news, since I very much doubt Tool would go to Japan and then not to Australia and New Zealand.

In other news, Adam is said to be featured in the next issue of Guitar World, coming out on April 11th.  I can’t remember where I read that, probably on Toolnavy.  If I ever figure out who it was who posted it (feel free to tell me if you are!) then I’ll let you all know!

Back home now as well, for those watching the news, I’m too far south to be effected by the cyclone, but it’s still pretty wet and windy here!  There’s about 10,000 Posts on Toolnavy for me to catch up with too, so there may be more news shortly!

Kabir confirms 10,000 Days

March 7th, 2006

Kabir has posted on Toolshed that “A reliable source confirms that the title is ’10,000 Days’”.  For those who don’t know, Kabir is a friend of Maynard, and is usually very reliable.  I know there’ll be plenty of doubters still, but as I’ve said before, I like it.

The songs names I’m not so convinced with.  I’ve heard it suggested that these are working titles, and possibly not the real thing.  Makes sense to me, but given the album name, I’d suggest there will be a song called “Ten Thousand Days”.

Finally, mattw on Toolnavy posted a response from the Sydney Superdome regarding Tool’s booking:

Dear Matthew,

Further to your email below, please be advised that we are currently not in a position to advise if Tool are performing at the Sydney SuperDome on 10th August 2006.

However, may I suggest becoming a Sydney SuperDome online Club Member. Simply go to www.superdome.com.au, click on Member and follow the prompts. The advantage of being of being a Club Member is that you receive automatic email notifications of upcoming events and are provided with the opportunity to order tickets through the Club before they go on sale to the General Public.

Furthermore, Club Membership is currently free of charge.

Regards,

Sydney SuperDome Club Co-ordinator

That’s better than a No, and if you read into it, suggests that they’re not allowed to announce it……Think what you will

New Tool Article

March 7th, 2006

Darkmoogle has brought to my attention a new Tool article. I’m not 100% sure, but it looks like it’s from a magazine called Rock Sound, presumably a British mag since it mentions the Download Festival. There’s a scan of the article below, but in case you don’t feel like squinting:

  • It confirms that 10,000 Days is the name of the CD
  • Tracks include “Rosetta Stoned”, “Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman)” and “Ten Thousand Days”
  • Justin talks about the new sound that Joe Baressi has helped them create, essentially “he (Baressi) helped us achieve something we haven’t been able to up to now in terms of our sound” .
  • Maynard talks about how he wanted to be completely finished with APC before moving onto Tool, and essentially apologises for the delay. He also talks about the lyrics on the new CD being political, but not in your face Green Day style.
  • The article mentions they will also play a London date around the time of the Download Festival.

That’s a lot of info squeezed into a relatively small article. Those track names seem a little strange to me – starting to sound more like a stoner rock album than Tool…..

Edit No you’re not going blind, the article isn’t really below.  Having some technical hitches with images at the moment, so I’ve added a comment with the contents of the article.  Enjoy!
