Stuff

A few snippets of info the last couple of days.

CorpseGrindeR (who’s definitely NOT Gay) on Toolarmy posted a few links to some nice Tool photos yesterday. No idea who took them, but they appear to have been taken by someone in the crowd at the recent Tempe show. Dial-up users take not, they’re big pictures!

Toolband/Army has confirmed that Tool are playing the Street Scene festival in San Diego on the 5th of August.

Finally, here’s a picture of Maynard which is the Chartattack photo of the week!

Street Scene 06

Apparently Tool are playing at the Street Scene Festival in San Diego on the 4th or 5th of August. Looks like Tool will be all over the place around then. San Diego early AUgust, Japan in the middle (plus Oz/NZ?) and then back to the US for their arena tour. Good way to build up the frequent flyer points I suppose!

Other bands on the gig include Queens of the Stone Age, Tricky, Bad Religion and a whole stack of presumably crap bands starting with “The”.

MTV Interview Justin

Here’s an interview on the MTV website, with and interview with Justin.  He comments on 10,000 Days reaching number 1, internet leaks, winemaking, touring and my favorite:

(Tool) are in talks to be featured in the forthcoming “Guitar Hero 2″ video game

It also mentions that Tool are gearing up for an 8-week US tour in August/September.  All in one foul swoop, my plans of seeing Tool in Australia in August, and then in the US in October are (probably) dashed!

Very interesting reading, make sure you check it out!

Coachella, Rage, Sunrise

There’s plenty of bits and pieces floating around regarding the recent Coachella show.  A couple of guys at Toolnavy has posted some pictures of the show (though the one’s I’ve seen aren’t of great quality) and Distortion Online seems to have a few mp3s.

Just a reminder that Tool are appearing on Rage this weekend as guest programmers.  The Rage website has a little preview video of Danny and Maynard hamming it up for you to enjoy.  For those people who aren’t Australian, Rage allows guest to come in and pick a selection of videos, ususally around 30 or so.  Rage isn’t televised over the net, but I know that several members are planning on recording the show.

Finally, just in case you are interested, 10,000 Days was mentioned and show briefly on Sunrise this morning by Molly Meldrum.  Nothing exciting was said, more that both them and Pearl Jam have been released this weekend, and that it’ll be interesting to see who claims the #1 spot on the charts.  My money is still on Tool…..

Snippets

Just a couple of little bits and pieces from the web the last couple of days:

  • Some Signed Lateralus Vinyl is up on eBay at the moment.  Price is up to US$355 right at the moment….
  • Here’s a little interview with Maynard and Justin from the NZ Herald.  Speaks of rumours of a tour in November, but apart from that isn’t much different from the last 50 or so articles.  Thanks to xpandnz from Toolnavy for that.
  • I’m going to update the Signed Lateralus Gallery later today…….
  • Blair says that Kevin Willis and Camilla will be taking pics of Coachella, and other small shows and that they will be posted on Toolband/Army
  • 10,000 Days was available in Rockhampton Saturday morning, much to my surprise….
  • There are some reports of shortages around the place, but it seems more like some stores are running out, while others have plenty.  Luckily mine is in the mail!
  • Spiralysys tells me that he has a copy of the recent video interview with Danny and Maynard on MTV hosted on his site.

More UK Shows, COSM, Coachella

Several posts from Blair on Toolband/Army this morning.  Most importantly, the tour dates for the UK have been confirmed, and apparently more European dates will be confirmed soon:

6-11-06 GLASGOW, SCOTLAND/ACADEMY
6-13-06 HAMMERSMITH, UK/APOLLO
6-14-06 HAMMERSMITH, UK/APOLLO

Blair also had the chance to watch Tool rehearse recently in an LA sound stage, and got to see, not only the news songs and set list, but also the visuals that will be coming with the show.  Fans going to see them at Coachella this weekend will NOT be dissappointed.  Damn, wish I was there…..

Finally, it looks like the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors is having a couple of sales, mainly of prints of the “Net of Being” artwork which is being used for the 10,000 Days cover.  Tool have also provided Alex with some 10,000 Days CD’s which he has autographed and is selling for $20.  The other thing Blair doesn’t mention, is that COSM are running a competition for some live tickets for Tool in New York.  Each $5 donation will give you one chance to win, so get your chequebooks out.

Tool Interview with Beat

James sent me the link to this interview with Tool today from the Australian Beat website. Quite an interesting interview. Suggests that Alex Grey is working with Adam on the new video, which was something I was unaware of, though not particularly surprising either.

Also talks about an Australian tour, and while nothing has been booked, they’d like to be here this year, but if not will definitely be here in the next 12 months.

Melbourne at Midnight, Shirts, More Tours, TA Member Tickets…

Chris emailed me this link this morning, which tells us about the existing 10,000 Days Midnight Sales in Australia, but also mentions a new one in Melbourne. So all you Victorians can now hear 10,000 Days at 12:01. Oh, it’s at HMV in Bourke Street by the way.

SlickNickShady on Toolnavy seems to have purchased some of the new Tool T-Shirts. Here’s a couple of links to the pictures:

Toolarmy was quite busy this morning, with Blair posting several news items, including some words from Maynard talking about ticket sales, and how you shouldn’t buy from scalpers. Easier said than done for most fans I’d presume. He also says “We’re doing a full on tour at the end of the summer which goes almost everywhere. And in the new year, we’ll go almost everywhere else.”. Does this mean we may not see them in Australia until 2007? Hope not, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

It would also seem that some Toolarmy member are being given the opportunity to purchase tickets for the warm-up shows after all. From what I’ reading, it appears that members are being selected by the council for these tickets, so if you’ve been a bad boy/girl, that low Karma score could be coming to bite you in the arse.
