Re: Maynard's Drug Years

Yes, but at least rockstars have their fans and their millions to fall back on when times get tough. When yr unemployed, 35 years old, single, have a criminal conviction and most of your friends have deserted you because drugs turned you into an "evil, paranoid cunt", then coming down off...

Re: Maynard's Drug Years

So is the question here that drugs help with creativity, or that drugs are bad for you? There's not much doubt that drugs are "bad" for you (with varying degrees). As for lubricating creativity, it would work for some and not others. Maynard is one it's appeared to work for. I'd suspect t...

Re: Maynard's Drug Years

Drugs are stupid. I watched a bunch of my friends do drugs for the best part of 1997 - 2005 and was constantly reminded by them, at the time, as to how "great" drugs were. Then I spent the best part of the two following years being reprimanded by (ex) friends for "not being there whe...

That was the fatal flaw in Tim Leary's trip. He crashed around America selling "consciousness expansion" without ever giving a thought to the grim meat-hook realities that were lying in wait for all the people who took him seriously... All those pathetically eager acid freaks who thought ...

Re: Maynard's Drug Years

Didnt MJK once say "Spend 10 years doing drugs, then spend the next 10 years trying to get to that place without them" ?? Drugs are definitely a short cut to some experiences that can most probably be achieved through practices such as meditation or marathon running. What if you had arthr...

Re: Movie/TV News

^oh cool is the second episode out? I watched the movie the other night and then the first episode. Couldn't believe old Martin from the office was in it, total shock, and his accent wasn't too bad! Was one of the better pilots I've seen. Hey Hooligan, yes two is most definitely out and yes Freeman...

I think it's more a combination of things, and way more the aspects of your life/being that make you get into certain drugs ALSO makes you... it's hard to find the right word. Not "artistic" or "inspired," but it's a different kind of energy. I honestly wouldn't say that 10K Day...

Don't bother visiting any other threads b/c your saltiness is not welcome there. Oh, and fuck off. I owe you an apology. I had a remarkably trying day. One of the more stressful days I have had in a very long time. My post was uncalled for. I was out of line. There is no excuse for my behavior. I h...

Re: The Book Thread

Mark Lawrence's "Prince Of Thorns" is terrific! I couldn't put it down, and now after a couple of days I am on to his next. Comparisons have been drawn with GOT and certainly Lawrence uses the phrase "game of thrones", twice that I noticed, to describe the political landscape. It...

You're all nuts. That movie is amazing! I agree it was a great film and literally laugh out loud. I enjoyed it more than American Hustle. I honestly did not know going in that it was a comedy. it threw me off, especially because I'm in the business. I also laughed out loud too many times to count. ...

I'm finally getting around to listening to this album. I like. Thanks Hellboy I'll add this to my gig guide. I'll stick by my emo descriptor though. Don't listen to this is life makes you sad.
