My opinion of May Jay hasn't really changed over the years, I think he's an interesting fellow and I think he's least to blame for the lack of a new Tool album.

But I must admit that I have very little interest in a biography about him. Honestly, for him, it feels a little "jumping the shark" ish.

This dude won't even sing Wings/10K Days or Prison Sex anymore but he'll ok a biography that will reveal so much more personal shit? He could just make stuff up I guess.

I think this is good news. New album could be out by 2017. I was thinking maybe it would be 2018. Apparently, at a Volto show Danny said they were around 2/3 of the way finished. My source, my brother was at the show and he told me to my face in person last week.

2/3 done is about what I'd expect based on what we've been told. The obvious questions is how long will the final third take. Half the time that's already passed? Or a few months of solid work?

Danny's estimation always = "Hopefully in the studio before the end of the year."

I assume "2/3rds done" refers to "the album complete" and not just 2/3rds of writing/arranging - as we already know that Maynard has contributed.

You would expect then that they probably won't hit the studio until late next year at the earliest.

Assume nothing...does anyone remember "The Meathead Perspective" that made fun of Nine Inch Nails back in the day? There needs to be the equivalent of that for Tool...my GOD there's so much to work with...also, the other night in this class I'm taking there was a picture in the textbook of a guy using a Wii Fit wearing a 10k Days-era Tool shirt and I started laughing out loud.

Me either, I guess someone felt it was worth cataloging what I assume are photos from various social media around the place. They got bored of it when it became obvious there were still another 5+ years of songwriting to go...

I remember thinking that the album would be out before 2011. But this album not being released isn't the only thing that's happened I didn't expect. Many curveballs, good and bad. Lol.
