For that price there better be a golden ticket inside the packaging that actually SPECIFIES what its purpose is. For example, the owner of this overpriced opiate cd has 3 options with your golden ticket:

1.) Perform drums on stage during Lateralus
2.) Take Blair's job on Toolband for life
3.) Pick your own setlist of 10 songs to be performed at tonight's show

Not really, I asked Blair and he never really came back to me with an answer. Not sure if it's supposed to be a secret, something to happening the future, or if there's just nothing happening.

Yeah, I have been waiting for more as well. I am wondering if he's now laying low after the recording thing, or just recuperating from the loooong trip. The sleep deprivation from just hitting 2 shows and working the next days put me down for quite a while...

What about your review of SD while you're at it, Poop?

I'll get around to it at some point in the next couple of days. Gotta first catch up on all the porn I missed out on looking at yesterday. #Priorities

I seem to remember that prices tend to go down toward the end of the tour for certain bands and their merchandise.
I can tell you NIN/Queens did the opposite on this Oz Tour ... limited artist signed run of 350 (with only half for sale at the show). 5 of those 175 were signed by both bands and randomly replaced into the stock ... no mark up for those, just a bit of luck. Cost $30.

The remaining batch to be sold by the artist/outlet: $50

So these bands seemingly put in all the up front effort for very little reward beside maybe giving their fans a cool token of the show ... and they are very high quality for 30 bucks. I'd even consider the 50 per the artist is asking is fair for the quality and originality of the print.

Not to mention their ticket price combined was less than tool tix alone.

That is completely insane.

Apparently it was $2,000 in SF. The night before: $2,500.

I got that info from the post on Facebook badkitty just put up, so it might not be completely true.
this is unbelievable and totally overpriced
btw, you can get all of them:
Autographed Opiate Signed 21st Anniversary All 5 Versions Unopened
US $2,999.99
http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOOL-ARMY-Autog ... 43c674828e
or even cheaper:
US $1,179.00
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tool-Opiate-Lim ... 2336973baf

but 1.200$ just for the one cd? this is insane
- You like noisy music?
- Yes. The louder the better. Stops me from thinking.

- Never thought about it.

If I was a millionaire and didn't really care about a little increase in money or not (ie. 1200$ split 4 ways) and If I had a fan base of my own that MIGHT buy a cd for 1200$, I would sell it for that too.

If no one buys the cd, no biggie, they aren't hurting. But if someone does pay for that cd, well score I got some extra money.

Bottom line, they sell shit at a way overpriced amount because there are people that will pay it. Simple as that

I don't know if this is the case, and I'm not trying to justify anything here, but I imagine that EBay markups have a lot to do with it. Say they sell that doodled Opiate CD for $200... Somebody will absolutely snap it up and sell it at a much higher price, maybe even $1,200. So Tool made $50, and EBay Charlie reaped the other grand. If I'm Tool, I say "Fuck that shit - I'll ream my fan personally, thank you!"

And let's be honest... anybody who buys that shit for $1,200... a fool and his money are soon parted. They deserve it.

REALLY surprised that so many of you have such positive reviews from this tour..

Vegas was my 13th Tool show. I've seen them play epic gigs at Red Rocks, Radio City, intimate 10k days mini tour, etc etc. Always been mindblowing.

The ONLY redeeming factors from the Vegas show was Lateralus and the epic version of Opiate. Opening with HWAP, 46&2, and Schism??? Really guys? Really.

I've always defended tools setlist choices every step of the way during the 8 year 10,000 days tour. But this shit was just plain ridiculous. a 12 minute intermission? Got to be fucking kidding me. Trent Reznor can play 35 fucking songs drowning in his own sweat, but they need a break after intension? C'mon.

And we know Danny is a beast on the drums. We get it. His solos aren't even very cohesive in my opinion. If he wants to do a solo performance, how about something a bit tribal, something funky. (Thinking something a bit Triad-ish..)

Oh, and I'd like to add this was the FIRST time I had ever gone into a show WITHOUT knowing the setlist. I was so stoked for some surprises. What a kick in the balls.

And then there are the people who say "well they play the same shit because that's what Maynard can sing these days". Bullshit. He fuckin owns even on the 2014 Third Eye version. There is NO REASON at all that they cant belt out The Grudge or Eulogy, or even H. How fuckin hard on the vocal chords can H be except for the "I don't mind". Half of the song is whispered for fuck sake.

Stinkfist is an atrocious ending song btw.

No flow whatsoever. Glad I at least got to see the Lateralus tour and even the 2006-2010 10K days tour.

Sorry but I had to get that off my chest.
This is gonna be cool, heh heh heh.

Glad at least one person agrees with me lol. Well, at least with MOST of it anyway. If I may ask, what in particular do you not agree with? Just wondering, I'd like to hear more of your thoughts on the subject..

Also, I suppose I could have posted that in the Grudge thread, but being that it is a general summary of my Tool tour thoughts, I assumed the "general tour discussion" thread was a good choice for my venting about this lame excuse of a "tour"..
This is gonna be cool, heh heh heh.

Fair enough.

Specifically the part about "people say" Maynard picks the set. It came directly from Adam in multiple VIP Q&A's. I do however agree its a shitty excuse and have said so elsewhere on here.

Is there a possibility the album is further along than we think but they haven't practiced the tracks enough to perform them live while sounding good? I mean in a recent (recent being last July) Danny said they are working on a 20 min+ track, that involves multiple time sigs, And the interviewer reminded him that he would have to play it live and Danny laughed and put his face in his hands lol.

Just an idea
